Overall: I have been wanting to try all of the sub shops around town and this was next on the list. Service: The people seemed nice enough... maybe just a little unhappy... but not rude. Anyway, they made my sandwich. Wasn't too happy that they don't ask before toasting it, because I like my Italian meats cold. I guess you have to know that it's a hot sandwich, which I didn't, or I would have requested it cold. Food: I got the Italian sandwich, which was very bland to me. I requested oil and vinegar but it just wasn't right. I didn't even finish it and that says something. I also got some chili and mac and cheese to try.... The chili was just ok... again bland to me. But the mac and cheese was good. Overall: This wasn't my favorite, but not bad either. I'm sure everyone has their favorite sandwich shop, so come try this one and see if it's yours. read more

Updating my poor review to say that Firehouse Subs management did contact me on their own about the problem, and did refund my money. This was unexpected after talking to the person at the restaurant who basically told me it was not their problem. So I thank the management of the company for that. I just made a second order from Firehouse Subs. This is it, I could order everything on the menu, and as time goes on, I probably will. Unfortunately, I can't speak to ambiance, this was a delivery order. Ambiance at my house is comfortable tho! LOL. The Thanksgiving Sub is superb, the NY Steamers was a dream and the corned beef brisket will be in my dreams tonite! I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I received on December 9th, 2025, at the Firehouse Subs located at 225 Palm Bay Rd, Melbourne, FL 32909. At approximately 4:55 PM, my partner and I entered the establishment and, after waiting in line, placed an order totaling over $32.00. When I attempted to pay with a fifty-dollar bill, the cashier informed me that the restaurant does not accept fifty-dollar bills after 5:00 PM. I showed her that I only had fifty-dollar bills in my wallet and explained that it was only a few minutes after five pm. I don't believe this is a policy because it is not posted anywhere. The worst customer service. The manager lady with glasses is rude to customers and employees. She's losing her temper and getting physical grabbing little plastic cups out of my hand because I grabbed the 'wrong cups' even though they're right there on the counter to grab. Previous time she got snappy with her own employee and pulled her off the register mid order to clean the bathroom. Time prior to that she was rude with another customer because they were out of the product the customer wanted. It was founded in 1994 by brothers (and former firefighters) Chris and Robin Sorensen. The American based restaurant chain boasts over 1,200 locations in 46 states, with additional locations in Puerto Rico and Canada. Florida houses the majority of these with 179 locales. It's a rarity when I have an opportunity to conduct a second review for the same restaurant, or in this instance, the same chain. Toward that end, the West Melbourne location (in Hammock Landing) presented just such an occasion. It's also worthy of note that my previous rating was made, when service was given more weight in the process, in a time when service mattered. However, as the metric has now changed, wherein presently, my score is largely determined based upon the quality of the food, so too has my review, and it's certainly for the better. Allow me to digress for a moment, however. I simply must mention that Julian, the counter help, did an outstanding job. Since several additional restaurants were on the itinerary, I restricted my order to two, four-inch subs: a steak and cheese, and a Jamaican jerk turkey. Are these two anything special? No. Are either likely to garner a culinary award, or win a prize for prettiest bellibone? No. However, if I were staring down a Jersey Mike's, a Subway, or a Firehouse, I'd happily choose the latter. I must stress that I've eaten Firehouse Subs before, though I have never eaten in any of their restaurants. I always had them outside either at parties, get-together events, or delivered from friends. Ergo, my first time eating at a Firehouse Subs joint was the one located in Palm Bay at Hammock Landing where an Italian place that closed down used to be. The atmosphere of the Firehouse Subs seems to be nothing particularly special to me, but it does fit the concept of a firehouse in which everything seems to match a color scheme associated with fire trucks, firefighter suits, and the like (a lot of red and yellow). The place was also very clean but maybe it is because there were like two guests eating in the dining area given it was like 4 p.m. in the afternoon. I ordered my food, in which I got a combo complete with sweet tea, and waited. One of the flaws of this located was the wait time. I was surprised it took awhile for my food to be made given there was no queue or line and I was the only order they were working on at the time. Maybe it was an off day but I did take their slow service into account. The food was good, nothing bad to report there. But the price is a bit too high for my preference. Seriously, I can get subs that are just as good at Subways or even Jimmy Johns. I will even go as far as to say that the specific subs and sandwiches are better individually at particular locations at a cheaper price. I am not saying that Firehouse Subs is a terrible choice for subs, it is just I would be eating at such a place if I had money to burn or if I so happen have a hankering specifically for subs at Firehouse Subs. read more

I'm currently visiting from the west coast and have been to a few Firehouse Sub locations over there. It was disappointing to visit this one and face the negativity I faced by this guy with a mustache. I came in to pick up an order and he looked at me as if he had a problem. He couldn't even answer me like a man as to where I can pick up this order. Maybe he assumed I'm from this area and I should know. Nope. I'm not. The Firehouse Sub locations I've been to usually have the orders done and waiting for pick up on the racks by the door. Not this location. They have them behind the register. I didn't know and asked him to which he had an attitude. As I walked away he was whispering like a little coward with the kid with dreads laughing. If he was a real man, he would say what he needed to say out loud so I can properly respond, but cowards will be cowards. I should contact corporate and file a formal complaint but I can tell he's a pathetic little boy who hasn't grown up. Maybe being a prick brightens up his day. Firehouse Subs in Palm Bay is a great place to stop for lunch or a light dinner. I always get the Italian Grilled Chicken salad after a workout and the staff is always friendly and it's always clean! Second time trying Firehouse, first was in another state. Very friendly staff upon entrance, lol, all of the line employees say "welcome to FS" I think 1 person would be plenty but I'm sure it's company policy. Ordered the Hook and Ladder Light, no onion. Only took about 5 minutes and the guy brought it to our table. Hot, not soggy, delicious! Almost had a sweet flavor to it, which was either the honey ham or the bread. Lots of melted Monterey Jack cheese and a pickle on the side. Decided to eat there because of the young man holding the sign on the corner by the Target. We had never noticed this place in that plaza although we have been to 5 Guys numerous times, so the advertising worked! After we ate while waiting for traffic, we saw the young man with the sign helping an elderly lady to cross Norfolk Pkwy probably to get to FS. Kudos to that young man! when my wife and i want subs this is our favorite. the food is fresh and the bread is soft when heated up. we love the greeting we get upon entering and i was surprised that they remembered my name. yes the prices are a little higher than some other shops but like the saying goes "you get what you pay for. i don't mind the extra money for a clean,friendly,and efficient service. they have yet to get our order wrong. the manager is quick to thank you for visiting and great to talk to!! read more
