Amazing service they are pleasant and the bathrooms and tables are kept clean . Authentic BBQ so good. Loved everything. My favorite was the jalapeno sausage. Had rains and brisket as weak and the e portions were big.

Texas BBQ! Plenty of parking and open on Sunday. Full Texas BBQ experience with the grill and smokers outside where you place your order. Pulled Pork, Brisket, and Jalapeño wrapped shrimp is what I ordered. Baked potato and drink on the side. Regular BBQ sauce is very good and I really enjoyed the pulled pork. Brisket was a bit fatty and the shrimp could have been cooked a little more. Texas size portions! Great service and fun atmosphere.

Texas barbecue is all slightly overhyped in my opinion, and I've definitely had better. But the experience at Hard Eight is enjoyable. It was fun to watch them and pick meats directly off the smokers. Prices are high, which is just the way it is with meat pricing. There's lots of big picnic table seats and fun western decor. Service is good too. I'm a sides person, so I liked the jalapeno creamed corn and the free beans the best! Those beans are spicy and unique. The spicy barbecue sauce is way too thin for me. There are pros and cons, but overall I'm glad we tried it.

Pretty good place for some barbecue. We stayed at a nearby hotel so the uber ride was short. All the meats looked marvelous. I like the joints that show you the meat and you can ask for a sizable cut. Ambience rocked.

I was thrilled we stumbled across this place. As someone who's not a Dallas local and was in town for a work conference, getting away from the convention scene with five coworkers led us to one of the best meals of the trip. There were six of us, and we picked everything from the smoker we could see. The barbecue was everything you hope Texas BBQ will be--beautifully smoked, incredibly tasty. The meat was tender with just and every bite reminded us why Texas has earned its legendary reputation. I know claiming one barbecue joint is better than the rest of Texas is a bold statement, but after this meal, I'm willing to make it. Texas may set the gold standard for barbecue, and this place somehow manages to rise above it. If I'm back in Dallas, this will be one of my first stops. BB

10 oz rib eye with side for $24

Oh, you could smell the smoky barbecue as soon as you pull into the parking lot there was a line that moved pretty quick considering it was lunchtime. They had everything you can think of and more for a barbecue place. My eyes spied a 10 oz ribeye steak with a side for 24 bucks. That was my pic. I needed the protein. I got my steak, medium rare and I got a sweet potato as my side. It was perfect. Totally delicious and melt in your mouth. I will be back for the steak for sure.

I came out to Dallas for the first time as part of a work trip for my new employer. Before my flight home, several coworkers suggested I go to Hard Eight, and I'm glad I did! I've never had BBQ this tasty, and it's on another level compared to the places I've gone to back home. I told the gentleman cooking that this was my first time, and he gave me tips on getting smaller portions so I could try more offerings. I'm glad I did because I wanted to focus on the meat! As I worked my way down the line, everyone was helpful with asking if I wanted bread, what deserts were worth trying, and closing the transaction. The workers who clean off the tables are also amazing. I was able to practice my Spanish with them. Thank you Hard Eight BBQ for making me feel welcome. I'll definitely come by again when I'm in town!

We came here for the first time. The setup is somewhere between a buffet and a regular restaurant. You walk in, choose your meats, they plate them for you, then you go through and pick your sides, pay for everything, grab your tray and find a spot to sit. Very cool experience overall. The meat was divine. Brisket was incredible. Sausage was so juicy and good. Pulled pork was a little dry for me personally but I don't like adding sauces to my meat, so that's on me. My husband loved his pulled pork sandwich. Only thing I would say is the buns could be higher quality, they didn't match the level of the meat. Corn was great. Sides were great. Sauces were great. Service was very quick. Inside was decently loud but we moved to the covered patio area, half outside but sheltered, and it was much quieter out there. We took our time and really enjoyed it. Would absolutely come back. That meat was divine. P.S. My ratings are based on whether I believe I could make a better or healthier version at home. If food/drinks/service impress me, I'll be happy to come back. If not, the stars reflect that.

Very spacious restaurants with a wide of bbq menu options. The jalapeño sausage is the best. They do run out of some items so I recommend having backup options. Beef and pork brisket are pretty decent, especially the beef one. Lots of side the corn on cob and coleslaw. They do have drinks and some non alcoholic beverages too. I really like the interior design, recommend to stop by if you're around

The only Texas bbq I've had so can't really compare. Got some of everything though: lean brisket, some ribs and spicy sausage. It was busy, got in and out very fast though! Nice atmosphere and cool how you can watch them cook it!

I really wanted to like this place. We read great reviews about Hard Eight BBQ. I think I got too hyped to have great BBQ. Honestly, it was mediocre at best. The ribs had decent enough flavor and were tender. Why the harsh review then? Any BBQ joint that doesn't remove the membrane from their ribs automatically loses a star from me. It's mind numbingly simple to remove the membrane from a rack of ribs. It drives me mad when a place is too lazy to do something so simple. Our brisket was mainly gristle unfortunately. The sides were "meh." My favorite thing was the fried okra. It's pretty hard to mess up fried okra. There really isn't much service involved here. Tell the guy at the pit what you want and he shovels it onto your tray. Then move down the line to pick what sides you want off the buffet bar. The inside of the restaurant is decorated well and has a nice smokehouse feel to it. There was lots of seating inside. I would like to try out one of their other locations in the future. Maybe we just went at a bad time?

Delicious

First time having barbecue from here, it was amazing! As soon as you get to the parking lot you can see and smell the smoke and the pit master is right there as soon as you walk in and they are super friendly and knowledgeable! Great service throughout the entire experience! Is everyone in Texas this friendly? You must try this place!

My first time back to hard eight after several years and they still impress every time. Service is fast and friendly and the food is fantastic. Everything was amazing. This was my first time getting the ribs and they were amazing. Perfect chew, great rub, and plenty of meat on the bone. Wish I came to DFW more often to enjoy this amazing BBQ

Hard Eight BBQ Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Hard Eight BBQ

Is the Coppell location air conditioned?

Yes, once you get inside after grabbing your tray of meat. But standing outside in the line to get it, you will sweat your a** off. They are cooking the meat right there in front of you.

I have 10 people in my group, can you accommodate that many people?

Yes that place is bigger enough for larger parties

Does hard eight serve liquor?

Yes. They have a full bar

Do you sell beer and cocktails at the Coppell location or is it BYOB?

Yes they have beer and wine

Do you have high chairs?

Yes but you may have to ask for them

Am I allowed to bring my pet?

They have outdoor seating, however I've never seen a pet on premises.

Is there a long wait for take out? (Thursday night)

Not usually. Even on the weekends (Saturday night) I've never waited in line more than 20 min.

Are there TVs?

Yup

How much would be enough for a family of 4? We want to try the brisket, sausage, and ribs. We also want to get mac&cheese and potato salad.

It depends on how much you get as the price depends on the total weight if the meat. But I'd say roughly $100.

Is this place Dog friendly?

Hi Julie! Service animals are welcome but no pets.

Is this place halal?

No we are not.

Are you guys will open on Wednesday 26th December?

Yes! We will be closed on December 25th but we will be open normal business hours on December 26th.

Is there long wait on weekdays dinner around 7pm?

On weekends only

Is there long line at 11am Saturdays?

Sometimes and it depends on the time. It's worth the wait and long line.

Do they ship?

Yes, they do. Check it out at http://hardeightbbq.mybigcommerce.com/

Even though the employee had yet to interact with me, I am prompted for a gratuity. The photos showcasing the menu items were not helpful. For instance, the photo for the Kalua Combo showed a chicken dish and Kalua Pork. When I was prompted for a chicken item, there were no photos. I could not select the chicken shown in the entree. Unlike the online menu which included Teriyaki Chicken, I only recall BBQ Chicken and Chicken Katsu as options. Fortunately, I opted for the Chicken Katsu. For my beverage, I chose a Hawaiian Sun canned drink. My order was served within 9 minutes. The service already did not match the gratuity. When I asked about my drink, I was pointed to the display case by the kiosk. Sadly, beverage delivery was neither one of her responsibilities nor included service. On their menu, "veggies" was included in various entrees. Veggie would have been a better description as the only vegetable was cabbage leaves. The cabbage was placed underneath the chicken and pork. The water from the cabbage caused the bottom portions of the meat to be soggy. Due to being breaded, the chicken was not as affected as the pork. Of the items served, I enjoyed the macaroni salad the most. It had plenty of flavor. The Kalua Pork which were not soaked in cabbage juice had an okay taste. Not only did the breading on Chicken Katsu provide flavor, it protected the chicken meat from being soggy. While a fork was served with my food, I had to grab a knife from the dispenser. The Chicken Katsu could have been eaten with a fork alone; the cabbage would have been difficult.

I will say we atleast liked the atmosphere and ambiance better at 1845 than we did at Rustico. But it was more of the same- incredibly overpriced BLAND food. Not at all worth the price you're paying, severely lacking in flavor, and takes waaaaay Too long to be delivered to your table after ordering. We started with the Texas Trio and we did enjoy that. It is kind of hard to mess up queso, salsa and pimento cheese- however we did say that was one thing we would eat again and was worth its value. My husband and other son bothe ordered cheeseburgers at $22 a pop and both said the burger they get at local pint was a million times better and a lil cheaper. I got the smothered chicken and It was very disappointing! The chicken was so bland it was like a notch above school cafeteria food (seriously) I swapped the rice for mashed potatoes and they were good (not great but good) and the Brussels sprouts which were really tasty but VERY small Portion for price. I've eaten at incredibly high end steak places that charge the same For a side of sprouts and give you more than double what I got tonight at 1845. The birthday boy got a strip steak and potatoes and he gave each of us a bite. $49 for this steak- a good size- but NO FLAVOR at all. Last but certainly not least- our server was nice enough and attentive HOWEVER he had on the Meta glasses that record people and that made our entire table very uncomfortable. My son said he had seen tik tok accounts where waiters record their patrons and post it! (Not saying he was but it definitely changed the atmosphere of our dinner) He also seemed notably disappointed and different after we didn't order the $49 appetizer and no alcohol. Visible mood shift but he did remain professional. All in all, we are baffled by the good reviews. And very very surprised at the quality of product and price point considering Marty Bs coffee has AMAZING food quality and pricing and so does the restaurant, just doesn't seem to be translating to the other establishments. :-(
