Being frequent visitors to the Mississippi Gulf Coast (seriously can't get enough of that area) we are always on the lookout for new spots to dine. Thanks to Jen B's review we wandered in here the morning of our last day here recently. Score! Harbor View is a pretty restaurant with great views of the beach and gulf and a wrap around porch with awesome patio seating. I want to set up camp and just move in onto that patio. Seriously. It's that lovely. The food here was great, too. I had the Everything Omelette* and a Bloody Mary with a side of bacon. Everything was great but the bacon. Oh my. It was thick and crispy just how I like it and not a soggy (eww) piece was to be found. Nothing worse than a fatty, soggy piece of bacon. The bloody Mary was not the best or strongest I've ever had but hey. I've never really met a Bloody Mary I didn't like. Service was slow but they were slammed this Sunday morning. Our food came quickly but locating our waitress was not easy when we needed her. Overall, I'd go here again in a heartbeat and think you should too! *Everything Omlette-ham, sausage, cheese, grilled onions, mushrooms, heaven dust. Ok, I made that last ingredient up. Just get it. My girlfriend and I went right after the reopening from covid-19 and we got crab cake eggs Benedict and let me tell you. We both ordered the same thing but my goodness was it filling. (I'm not normally a breakfast person) we definitely should have split and and will next time for sure. But the crab cakes were perfect as were the eggs. The potato's were phenomenal,as were the mimosas and bloody Mary's. All around great experience and great food. Definitely recommend. read more

We just left Harbor View cafe after a delicious Sunday brunch. The place was very busy but the hostess noticed my husband and I were there with my two elderly parents with a cane and a Walker. She sat them immediately despite the wait. I cannot thank this young lady enough for recognizing that my 2 octogenarians cannot stand and wait. It was an inconvenience for her to clear a table that quick and yet she did it with grace and without pause. Amazing service. read more

My husband and I went there today to check out our group of 40 coming there in June. I was very disappointed. Although the restaurant is cute and cozy, the food was a disappointment. I had a half and half seafood platter with shrimp and oysters. The shrimp were gumbo sized and the oysters were tiny. The shrimp were also overcooked. The coleslaw came in a condiment sized container. Really? In addition, the waitress spilled water on the table and then when she refilled, she spilled water in my lap. Harbor View holds a special place for me from 15 years ago when we lived nearby and visited often for the Tropical Chicken Salad. Full of grapes, pecans and marinated chicken, it was my favorite. After it, and virtually everything directly on the coast, was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina, HV thankfully relocated to a larger and nicer location just a block inland. And after going several years without visiting, we returned and now make HV a part of every visit. This visit was just as hoped as usual. Big southern style porch that has seating, and a welcoming atmosphere. The options include salads, sandwiches, burgers and a few pasta dishes as well. They have plentiful seafood options with shrimp and/or oysters on each. I tried something new today, the shrimp remoulade salad, which came with a remoulade dressing on greens. My only disappointment was that they were tiny salad shrimp, and the remoulade was too thick to be a dressing but was perfect as a dip or topping. But was exactly as I hope a remoulade would be. Our table also had a BLT (basic but good), a kids grilled cheese with fries (as expected), a trio salad (great), and shrimp and oyster po boy that looked great. There was a wine special that included sangria for $2.50 so I didn't expect a lot, but it was watered down tasting and had no fruit, which is key to a sangria to me. My friend ordered a Bloody Mary which looked very good though and was garnished nicely. The dessert case is so tempting but we were full. Service was A+. We'll be back next visit! read more

My wife and I are on the coast visiting family and were trying to find a place for lunch. Her brother suggested we try your restaurant and said it's the best food in Long Beach. And I must agree that it was delicious. However, our server, kelsie was terrible. She had an attitude from the very start. As if she didn't want us to be there she almost rushed us to place our orders. And on 3 separate occasions she pulled out her phone to I guess see a text or call. Plus we were there for over an hour and only got a refill once which she gave me diet instead of regular coke. Showed up at 2:35 this Sunday, was told they had been real busy snd the kitchen decided to close earlier than the 3pm posted on FB, website, restaurant signage. I had driven in from another's town Nd just wanted a salad and iced tea after a long morning of physical labor. Big car show in town leaving out but sad regular patrons had to suffer. Good spot to bring the family to eat. Love grabbing a spot outside. The food is nothing to write home about but it is good and kept all age ranges in our family happy each time we visited. Pleasant wait staff and clean. This would be 4 stars but the staff doesn't have enough silverware for the volume of customers this spot sometimes experiences. 1.Worst gumbo I have ever tasted in my life! I was born and raised in New Orleans and have eaten gumbo at many restaurants in the Louisiana and Gulf Coast area. This was by far the worst. Way too much of some kind of spice/herb. This Overpowered the gumbo flavor. 2.Crab cakes and hush pups were very good. 3. Blackened shrimp platter was made up of very small OVERSEASONED salad shrimp. Coleslaw,which is called a "side",came in a very small condiment cup. One bite. Tasted sour. Also,You would think with fresh gulf shrimp less than a mile away, they wouldn't use frozen shrimp in entrees. 4. Service was lackluster at best. 5. Had 1 beer,it was room temp. 6. Why would I request management, same complaints over the past few years. Seems as if they give it lip service but never succeed in correcting these issues. WoW, where to start, so I just finished up my annual trip to #CTC (Cruzin' the Coast) with some friends and we were looking for a late night food joint. We were not even going to this place, but the road was closed at tracks so we made a U-turn in their lot and said it's open, we are here, why not just try this out. This place was pretty busy, it was around 8:05, and their hours said closing at 9:00 Sometimes this means the service and the food can be so-so cause everyone's tired, and they are just ready to quit for the day. Well that's not true at all in this case, our server was very friendly, the food was top notch, and the whole experience great. I had their cheese steak sandwich, wow it was pretty freaking damn good. Dare I say one of the best meals all week. It wasn't dry, overcooked, or skimpy. This place will get another visit from me for sure, unfortunately it's just once each year since I'm in TN, but I was impressed. read more

This rating reflects one visit. Normally this place is pretty good. We went to go to the Prime Rib night which used to be on Tuesday. They changed it to Wed. So Tues was Taco night. The tacos sucked. Mainly, they had them on some sort of tortilla which you could not pick up without crumbling. They said corn tort, but not like I know. They had black bean "mash" which was not good. I just moved my daughter into the area and stopped here to eat lunch. As a New Yorker you can imagine my surprise to find that I had been served the best Ruben sandwich of my life! My wife had the turkey, avocado, Swiss, and bacon on crescent and loved it. My daughter really raved about her grilled chicken sandwich. My boyfriend took me there for my birthday and I was looking forward to going since I haven't been before. I ordered the grilled shrimp and oysters. The server did tell me that they aren't actually grilled, but done on a griddle. I said that was fine. Well, so sorry that I ordered it!! Absolutely no flavor and I believe they were a bit under cooked. There actually was a liquid they were sitting in on my plate. Went to this place after being disappointed by a couple restaurants in Bay Saint Louis and was happily surprised by the service! We were sat quickly with our dog at the outdoor seating. We were waited on quickly and the food was great! The environment was nice and the food prices weren't terribly expensive for an acceptable amount of food. We ordered the shrimp asparagus soup starter, which actually seems to be an odd combination but worked well, and tasted good, definitely a repeatable order for us. Unfortunately the shrimp/oyster po-boy was ruined for us by the bread. It was a soft non-crusty bread you with a hamburger bun texture. It just didn't go well in our opinion. What a sweet spot to dine on the Mississippi Gulf Coast!! We came in for lunch and sat on the veranda facing the harbor. The bay breeze was lovely and kept any flies away, but blew our napkins around a bit (NOT a big deal), loved the breeze!! We started with the crab cakes which were delicious. They were full of lump crab meat and almost no filling. (I would drive back here just for them, seriously!) NO, I am lying, we started with some fancy Martinis which were great.
