Excellent service, delicious food, beautiful dining area, super quick service. We were in and out with full bellies in less than an hour. We had the platters with fries, hush puppies, and coleslaw. I had the fried oysters and blackened shrimp, my daughter had the catfish. We also had the fried pickles for an appetizer. No complaints anywhere. I forgot to take pics of our amazing lunch. The service was awesome, the food was outstanding. We started with a mimosa and a Bloody Mary. I got the Roast Beef which was basically pastrami, the sandwich had Swiss, 1000 island and sauerkraut on marbled rye. The meat was cut in slices and it was the best I've ever had and it was only $8.95 and came with kettle chips. You can sub for fries or something else for an up charge. The sandwich was huge, I took half home and ate it later. Honey had the Hawaiian chicken sandwich, chicken, pineapple and Swiss on a bun. It was really good too. That's what he said, I didn't try it myself. A great deal at $8.95 also. It also came with chips and you could upgrade for an additional charge. The server also suggested a lemon poppyseed dressing to go with the Hawaiian chicken and that was yummy dipping your chips in it. Get there early as lunch on a Monday got busy by 11:30. We came here twice on our quick visit to Long Beach. On the first visit, I got a fried shrimp salad because that's my jam when I'm in the south. It was great! We also got the crab cakes, which were perfect. The second visit was with my husband's entire family after their grandma's funeral. We split the seafood platter which was delicious but 100% fried so I gained 7 pounds (kidding.... maybe). For dessert, I sampled a bite of turtle cheesecake and a bite of a lemon blueberry cake. Stopped for lunch today. We enjoyed the blackened chicken Caesar salad and shrimp and oyster salad. Shrimp was small but well cooked, oysters were large and chicken was moist and tender. Wow! This is a great lunch spot just off Beach Blvd. We were looking for something with some variety, and Harbor View delivered! The trio salad option is wonderful. Patrons can choose from shrimp remoulade, tuna salad, chicken salad and coleslaw. Your three choices are served on top of a bed of fresh greens. The tuna was fresh and light. The shrimp remoulade was good. Shrimp was fresh and properly cooked. The remoulade could be a little spicier, but this is a matter of personal preference. My husband tried a land and sea po'boy that was enjoyed, and a nice spin on the traditional sandwich. The kids enjoyed their meal choices, and the atmosphere was family friendly. Dessert options looked fantastic. We'll be back to try them! The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. The inside is open and airy. First time here. We drove over and hour to try it out and we were not disappointed. From the time we walked in to walking out the customer service was amazing. Our server Katie was training a new girl and they both were great. Katie knew the menu very well. She had no problems answering all of our questions. The food was perfect also. Looked old, lettuce was not fresh but the ranch dressing, homemade, perfect. Main course: mahi mahi dinner, mixed veggies, and roasted potatoes. I got the combination plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, and pancakes. Everything is good! The customer service is excellent (good 'ol southern hospitality)!! Reviewing based only on breakfast - this place is fine by me. Really impressed with the speed of the service and the overall friendliness of the staff. In a surprise, today's coffee special was King Cake coffee. Now, I don't know about you, but I'm ordering that any day of the week! Even better, the coffee tasted like coffee first with just a hint of King Cake. It wasn't like typical flavored coffees that overpower the whole drink. Very nice. I took the breakfast combo with eggs and pancakes and the whatnot, and it was a solid dish. The pancakes were definitely the highlight. read more

Set about a block from the bay with an idyllic view of the water, the Harbor View is a real charmer. Be forewarned though, the servings are enormous, so if you order an appetizer, it would be best if you brought along two or three friends with similar tastes who are willing to share. I ordered a fried oyster salad with a side of the eggplant fries served first. When they first arrived, I admit I was a bit worried that these were over breaded. However, with a single bite, those fears were dispelled. A crispy and crunchy exterior with a soft luscious interior made these pure heaven. The slight bitterness of the eggplant paired beautifully with the spiciness of the roumalade that accompanied these beauties. I had promised myself after seeing the serving size that I would eat only half and somehow I managed to eat the entire serving before my salad arrived. And that salad! crisp bright baby greens with crunchy cucumbers and plenty of oysters with a creamy key lime dressing was yummy. There were a few improvements that I think could have sent it over the top. First, don't put tomatoes on a salad unless they are top of the season, they detract from the rest. Second, the salad could have used a bit more acid, maybe add a bit more lime juice and peel to the dressing. Also, the salad could have benefitted from a bit of a bite, perhaps some green onion or a bitter green. The service was very friendly and prompt with refills on beverages offered as soon as cups were low, a feat on porch seating. The only other piece of advice I would offer is to consider more steamed and grilled seafood. I could imagine the salad with baked oysters for example, it would be lighter and equally delicious. read more

Very reliable, but very average diner food. This cafe sits in the heart of downtown Longbeach, but there aren't any buildings except on the north facing side. I'll give you one guess why this is. It is extremely difficult to find a place along the Mississippi gulf coast to get a hot breakfast that isn't named Waffle House. The most disappointing feature of this cafe is that they only serve breakfast on the weekends. Unfortunately, I and most other working people eat breakfast every day. They had pumpkin pancakes as their breakfast special this Saturday morning. Nothing too special, but the bacon was decent. My coworker and I also ate here for lunch the other day. We tried their hamburger steak special with mashed potatoes and gravy with a side of peas. I've never had hamburger steak in the actual shape of a hamburger patty, but I guess it makes sense. For those who want a decent Waffle House alternative for the weekend, come here. read more

I was a little parched so I finished said water pretty quickly. She said she'd be right back with a refill. 10 minutes later she's taking the orders of the table behind me with 8 people. I walk up to the counter with my cup to get more water. About 6 people behind the counter, no one acknowledged me. There were pitchers sitting on the counter so I poured my own water. First impression, I liked their speediness to get things done along with the friendliness. As per the talk around town I ordered the Shrimp Po-Boy not dressed. Not dressed meaning no lettuce, no mayo, etc. Anyway for $7.75 I got at least a lb of shrimp on a 9 inch roll, (see picture). The shrimp was de-lish as Rachael Ray would say. The bread it came on however was something to complain about. It was soft but was very chewy. Couldn't tell if it had been microwaved or that there was too much gluten in the dough when it was made or maybe the dough was mixed too long. Not sure. But I'm willing to try em' again to see if the problem corrected itself. read more
