Great service and good food. I loved my pancakes because they were super fluffy and had a nice buttery taste to it. Grits were good, but not the best I've had (were a little more on the drier side even with the sauce). Upgraded the texas toast to the special biscuit, it was just okay to us. read more

Lazy Oak - single pancake with the fresh fruit and whipped cream & the cajun boiled kiss my grits - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Ocean Springs, Mississippi

I can't believe I ate the whole thing. This morning we stopped at the Lazy Oak, a rather large restaurant tucked away in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. There is a large parking lot located on 1 side of the restaurant offering ample parking. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. We were met by the hostess upon entering and decided to dine inside. I saw 3 different dining rooms inside and a bar. So lots of seating. Our server, Alyssa was very nice and had a lot of patience with us. Thank you for that. She eventually took our order once we were ready and the food came out shortly later. I ordered a classic omelet with hashbrowns. The omelet consisted of 8 eggs. Wow!!! It was fluffy and tasted light. It took me about 30 minutes to consume all of it. Btw, Alyssa seemed impressed that I had. Well, all the plates were filled and my 2 friends were unable to eat all of their meals...good luck in advance! Thank you Lazy Oak and Alyssa for a delightful morning! read more

Visited on a Sunday morning, and it wasn't very crowded. There were a LOT aggressive flies outside, even though they had a large fan running high in the ceiling ( only 1). They may want to consider adding small table fans designed to keep flies away, as we were constantly dealing with flies while trying to eat. It was a sunny day with a light breeze, so the issue was still noticeable. I ordered the Berry Sherbet Mimosa, ( nothing special) For an appetizer, we had the beignets. They reminded me more of empanadas than traditional beignets. The green sauce was delicious, though-I would definitely recommend asking for extra sauce. The nicest part of the experience, besides our waitress, was that they recognize and honor veterans, which I really appreciated. Overall, it was a mixed experience with some good flavors and positive touches, but also a few details that could be improved. ( the one is for the flies ) read more

The food, HOLY COW, the portions were large and so tasty. We got the Get Loaded for a starter. When I say a party in my mouth... I mean it, yum. I had the classic omelet and hubby had the Chili Bang Bang. Anna, our server was great. We left with three take away boxes. The food way so good. I rated it four stars because it was warm in the restaurant and I ordered a pineapple blueberry sunrise mimosa that took a while to get I was wondering if maybe they were harvesting the blueberries & pineapples : ) read more

We went to The Lazy Oak because of the good reviews, and it definitely lived up to the small-town charm we were hoping for. When we got there, it seemed crowded, with people sitting both on the front porch and inside, but we were seated quickly. The staff was incredibly sweet and made the whole place feel very warm, welcoming, and family-like. We ordered the bacon appetizer, and the plate was completely cleaned off. It was so good. We both ordered biscuit sandwiches, and the biscuits were huge, just like you can see in the picture. They were so big that we both ended up taking the tops off and just eating the rest with the bottom biscuit, egg, and everything else. Even with that, the food was still really good. Overall, it was a great experience. This is exactly the kind of little-town spot I love to visit, especially on a quiet morning. read more

It was ok. Maybe a 4.5-5/10 overall. The crawfish cream tasted like hot sauce mixed with cream, really didn't care for the flavor. Grits didn't have a lot of flavor and tasted like it was cooked with just water, might've been older grits idk. The fish was fried ok and flavored ok. But the biscuit...... it was my least favorite. I loved the size but couldn't get passed tasting the flavor of the metal pan it was cooked in. Service was fast and I may have to go back and try something different. read more

This place was recommended to us while visiting the area, and it ended up being our least favorite meal. We had our dog with us and asked to sit outside with her. They seated us in an area that wasn't as nice and was in the sun. We assumed this was because people with dogs might be seated separately, but we ended up seeing dogs elsewhere on the patio, too. A waitress came and started taking our drink order when another girl came up and yelled at her saying it was "her table." It was rather uncomfortable for us as the guests. The second girl who came ended up being our waitress for the rest of our time, and she did a poor job. She was friendly enough but rarely checked on us. She had our meals come out at separate times. She never offered our dog any water. All around bad service. Of course we got stuck paying the bill on the handheld device with her watching us put in the tip, which I hate. What we ordered was also disappointing. Our vanilla lattes tasted somewhat medicinal. We all had this same thought separately. Like a hospital protein shake. We tried the beignets and some shrimp and grits. The beignets were too doughy, and our shrimp and grits lacked flavor. We covered it with some hot sauce (which we had to get ourselves from another table) to help it. The shrimp in it were cooked well, but the crawfish were tough. Wouldn't order either dish again. It looks like a cute atmosphere on the inside. Maybe other menu items are better and other servers do a better job. We wouldn't return though. read more

The service was good. The food was horrible. I wouldn't feed that to my dog. I will go to Waffle house before I go there. Do not order the suntan, and if you do make sure you get it on a biscuit. Not the Pope boy. The po boy bread is way too big. All you get in is po boy bread. And I'll charge you 299 for that bread that you don't wanna eat. read more

Happened upon the Lazy Oak for a lazy breakfast! Sat outside and it was so peaceful and lovely. Although the restaurant sits on a 2 way road in that neighborhood area... It is very peaceful. Sitting outside made it more relaxing and the food was delish!! We started with the glazed beignets and my wholly dang if they weren't delicious!!! I could've bellied up to more of those, some crispy bacon and a cup of coffee and been done. But we ordered more food and stuffed our face with yumminess! Service was great too. Highly recommend this gem on the side of the road. read more

We started at the bar to get French 75s that were awfully made. There was no brandy at all. The food service though was top notch. She was amazing and did so well trying to accommodate us through a hot brunch. The area we sat in was hot with no air circulation and the plates brought were all wet. Even the utensils were plastic. The appetizers of the candied bacon and beignets were a miss. The giant plate the bacon was on was completely slathered in maple syrup and the beignets were undercooked. The porter platter was actually quite good with the hot sausage and grits. My wife had the caprese omelette that was all right. Overall, its breakfast was good but everything else was mid. read more

I had high hopes for this place, but it didn't live up to it. In general, food was ok. We sat outside and the flies were awful. It was to the point where our food was no longer appetizing. So we recommend sitting inside!!!!! My mimosa of the day was good!! My son got chicken and waffles it was good! My husband's friend oyster po boy was great! The fried oysters were tasty - cornmeal coated. I got one of the grits meals with chargrilled oysters. Grits & sauce were great. Oysters tasted bad - like not good. I should have said something but I didn't. I don't think we will not likely to go back. I will say service was good. Very attentive, especially for sitting outside. read more

Lazy Oak - Oyster po boy with optional bread instead of biscuit. Was tasty. - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Ocean Springs, Mississippi

This place is surprisingly huge on the inside as well as the outside, and it definitely stays busy on Saturdays and Sundays, but in a good way. They have plenty of parking and tons of seating both inside and outside, so finding a spot is never an issue. The service was incredibly kind and attentive, which made the experience even better. It was a bit cold inside, but I imagine that's intentional for when the crowds pick up. The bathrooms could use a little extra attention, but honestly, the food more than makes up for it. The portions are huge, meals are around $14 and more than enough to take home leftovers. The prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food. Overall, a great spot with great value! read more

We ordered the beignets. Not sure what we received but they were NOT traditional beignets in any form. Not great but only because I thought I was getting the standard tasty French item? Clarify on the menu they are lazy oak take on this item, and I think they will be ok for most folk. Everything else was ok- no issues. read more

I chose this restaurant to meet up with friends for Saturday brunch. The restaurant has a nice southern at home vibe. We waited 40 minutes for a table of 9 to become available as they do not accept reservations. Once seated we were greeted by our server and drink and appetizer orders were taken. Our server was nice, but seemed a little stressed. She had our large table as well as other smaller tables to attend to. It took sometime for drink orders to come out, and the kicker was that we found out there was no syrup only awhile after our food delivered to the table. Those of us that ordered meals with waffles asked for syrup and ate a portion of our food while waiting for the syrup to come out. We waited for a good while to only later be told they were out of syrup. You cannot have so many menu items that include waffles and not have syrup, then not tell your customers so that they can order something different and not waste time waiting on something they can't fully enjoy. Most of the group ordered waffles. It would have been nice to know this prior to ordering, or the manager could have easily ran to the store or sent a team member to go. We noticed other customers were given waffles and not told they were out of syrup as well. Although it was a nice atmosphere none of us are interested in returning to the restaurant. read more

We found this gem by chance in Ocean Springs. So glad we did! Great ambiance, coffee, and food! We started with the candied bacon and it was great! Overall we enjoyed our brunch and will be back to try other things from the menu. read more

Went for Father's Day breakfast, waitress said I could order ala carte because I wasn't allowed to order the smaller kids breakfast which was fine no big deal. I asked for a side of whole wheat toast and she said they had multi grain, 1 scrambled egg and a side of bacon. The toast was legitimately miniature white bread that was burnt black on one side and so saturated with butter you could squeeze liquid from it, it was inedible. Tiniest amount of egg possible. The cap of my breakfast was the $4.00 I was charged for 2 pieces of bacon. She could've maybe offered to take off the toast that wasn't eaten and I'm sorry there is no way on earth that was multigrain anything. I know prices are up but seriously.. $2.00 PER piece of bacon?? Honestly eating there this morning reminded me why we stopped eating there. Just left a bad vibe to start the day read more

Found this place on yelp and knew I had to try it. I went to the website and checked the menu and saw pictures of a dish with a whole soft shell crab on top with shrimp and crawfish. Yum! The place is very cute and the employees were very nice. Here's where it went all wrong. I ordered the port and asked the waitress what she thought about it and she replied, "it's really good and huge!" Service was pretty quick so we got our food pretty quick. I tell the gentleman who delivered our food that I was so excited about my food! I noticed my soft shell crab was missing on top but I started digging into the huge pile of eggs looking for it and start eating. Never saw any crab so asked the waitress and she replied was it not on top? I said no. She left and a few moments later the same gentleman who delivered our food came back and said they sold out of soft shell crab and they gave me extra shrimp. I replied nicely that I was looking forward to the soft shell crab and he also replied nicely, yeah but that's why we gave you extra shrimp. No offer to change my order, a discount, maybe a dessert or anything. Why would you change up my order without informing me before hand? Definitely not how business should be handled. Our bill after tipping 20% was about $52 for two people for brunch. Definitely not worth it. Will not be back. read more

Service was outstanding. There was plenty of seating in and out and lots of people. We were a party of four and we went for breakfast. The biscuits looked amazing, but the taste was off. The candied bacon was under cooked and was just limp bacon in a plate of syrup. The food overall just wasn't up to our expectations. I ordered the shrimp grits and they were ok. I have no opinion on any of the other menu items and they might be fabulous, but I do hope they fix whatever is wrong. Our entire party was not happy with the food. However I can only give my opinion about my own. The ambiance is great with outdoor seating as well. read more

Don't waste your time! This place is very inconsistent with service and food quality. In town for a wedding and this was by far our worst meal experience of the entire trip. First off they advertise Bloody Mary 's on their menu and when we ordered them we were told they DO NOT have a liquor license so no Bloody Mary's. WHY is it on the menu??? We were with a large group of 8 people. We had to ask multiple times for silverware even after our food was served. We were finally given plastic silverware packets and told they didn't have any clean silverware. Seriously? The food lacked flavor and my husband's waffle was literally doughy and undercooked that he had to send it back. They ran out of potatoes and we had to wait for them to make more. No offer to discount our meal with all the mishaps that went wrong. Very overpriced for low quality food and service. Would Not recommend! read more

This was our first visit to the restaurant, and we noticed that parking was quite crowded, likely because we arrived during brunch hours. Fortunately, we only had to wait about five minutes to be seated, and our waitress was quick to greet us. We ordered an appetizer and our main dishes, but they came out at the same time, which wasn't ideal. I thought the food was good, but my partner didn't enjoy it as much. I really liked the boudin balls since it was my first time trying them, but my partner found them too soggy inside. The shrimp and crawfish grits were tasty, but the crawfish was a bit overcooked and chewy. My husband ordered an omelet with crab, but he didn't like it. It seemed like the omelet had been sitting out for a while, and the crab didn't taste fresh. We also tried the beignets, which were okay for my first time tasting them. Overall, the food was average, and the atmosphere felt very family-friendly, but nothing extraordinary. We might come back to try other dishes in the future. read more

This is definitely worth a stop. We sat outside under the patio which was nice and quaint. The food came quick and was tasty. My wife really enjoyed hers. Unfortunately mine was bland and really needed some salt. After hitting it with a bit of salt and a touch of Tony Chacheres it was really good. I visited here last month on a trip to the Gulf Coast. Ocean Springs is a charming town. This gem of a place is nestled in the community of Ocean Springs. I'm very fortunate to have found this place. This restaurant is in an old home. When walking inside, it has a nice old home or historic feel to it. What a wonderful way of welcoming me back to The South! I picked a great place to have my first meal back in The South. I ordered an unsweet iced tea along with shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits were delish!!! It's one of my favorite meals and they nailed it here. I'm not a big fan of white bread, however, the toast they served me was outstanding! It was great to mop up the delicious sauce with their toast. Yum! I nearly passed on dessert but was very curious to try their beignets. I ordered beignets and told myself that I would only eat a few. After eating one of them, that was a broken self-promise! They were some of the best beignets I ever had. I highly recommend ordering a side of buttermilk and powder sugar dipping sauce. It really enhances the flavor of the beignets! Loved my waitress. She was warm and had a sweet Southern Belle personality. Again, this was a perfect first meal back in The South! I would love to return here when in the Gulf-coast of MS again! I highly recommend this place if you're visiting the area and want quality Southern home cooked food. Enjoy! I still think of this meal!! read more
