Had a family vacation in Ocean Springs and went to the blue dog bistro for brunch. It was super cold in the restaurant so we sat outside on the patio which was nice. I love the variety of the menu here. We got a ton of food- pork nachos, salmon bagel, egg frittata, tuna stack, blue dog breakfast, fried green tomatoes, grits, fruit, potatoes, and coffee. The lattes were absolutely adorable, love the dog art on them! All food was really good, except the frittata. It was so bland- needed salt and maybe a salsa or sauce to keep it from tasting so dry. A lovely venue- clean and cheerful. Food was good. Not amazing. I had the stuffed French toast- so thick with cinnamon syrup, floppy and gloppy- very VERY sweet. My companion had the Blue Dog Breakfast. Eggs and hash were very good. But the eggs were supposed to be sunny side up, not scrambled and he asked for wheat toast. We really enjoyed Blue Dog Bistro on a previous trip to Ocean Springs so we went back and it was as good as we remembered. I tried the blueberry ricotta pancakes and they were outstanding - moist and flavorful, and not overly sweet. My husband got the blue dog breakfast and it was also delicious, especially the Cochon hash. The restaurant itself is cute with dog themed decor. Blue Dog Bistro is such a gem. The vibes are relaxed and welcoming, and the dog-friendly patio is a huge plus. Service was excellent from start to finish, friendly, attentive, and never rushed. The food was outstanding. The cinnamon roll skillet is listed as a "small plate," but it is massive and perfect for sharing. We also split the free-range skillet, and the portions were incredibly generous. Every bite was flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. Honestly, everything we tried was so, so, so good. Yesterday we went to Blue Dog in Ocean Springs for my birthday brunch, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. I had already signed into the waitlist through the Yelp app before arriving and was shown as first in line. When we got there, the hostess asked for my information again and said she would check us in. Later, I received another notification saying I had been added to the waitlist -- but I was already on it. When I checked the app, I could see that our party had been added again and placed in 6th position, even though we were originally first. The owner later came out to see why so many people were waiting while there were open tables. After checking the waitlist, he saw we were next and seated us. Shortly after being seated, I received a notification that the duplicate waitlist entry had been removed, which confirmed the mistake. Unfortunately, the service at the table did not improve the experience. Our server did not check on us regularly, did not ask if we needed refills, and forgot to bring sugar after we requested it with our coffee. We would have ordered additional drinks, but she seemed rushed and inattentive. One of the dishes was also extremely salty and difficult to eat. Overall, the food was okay, but the waitlist confusion and lack of attentive service took away from what was supposed to be a birthday celebration. I hope management addresses the waitlist handling and service consistency moving forward. read more

It's funny when you go to restaurant and you're the only Black people and you are seated in a totally separate area then everybody else. Plenty of seating but we are the only people sitting in this area. It just feels weird you know. Been here b4 and this is the 1st time this has happened. ‍. Food is good and filling. I called about two hours ahead to accommodate my group and was told they would be able to seat us with a small wait when we arrived -- which we were completely fine with. However, when we got there, the manager was one of the rudest individuals I've encountered in quite some time. It honestly felt like they were annoyed that we showed up to give them business. We were kind, patient, and willing to be flexible, but were met with attitude and disrespect from the start. There were several tables open, and we even offered to sit outside at the many available tables, but were told we could not. The manager stated this was the "busiest restaurant in Ocean Springs" and implied we shouldn't be annoyed. I calmly mentioned there was no reason to be rude since we had been patient and were simply trying to work something out. Unfortunately, that seemed to escalate the situation, and the response became even more hostile. Meanwhile, much of the staff was standing in the back, and many tables inside remained empty. Due to the lack of basic customer service and professionalism, we chose to leave. Hard pass. read more

We had one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever encountered. We called yesterday and were told they do not take reservations and to call an hour before arriving. We did exactly that actually, we called two hours early and were told they could accommodate our group and that everything would be ready. Spoiler: it wasn't. When we arrived, there were plenty of open tables, including outdoor seating. We even offered to sit outside to make it easier. They flat-out refused to accommodate us in any way. Meanwhile, we stood there for over 30 minutes while they continued seating multiple 2-tops... and then somehow found space for a 10-top after us. The person working the host stand was beyond rude and dismissive. Having someone like that as the first point of contact is a disaster for any business. Completely unprofessional and honestly embarrassing for the establishment. You didn't just lose our business, you lost over $700 in sales. Do not waste your time here if you're dining with a group or expect basic communication and courtesy. Hard pass. read more

To be honest I expected that this place would be packed so we got up and wanted to be early at arrived at 7:20am. We ordered our drinks and I will start here as both the waitress and the drinks were awesome. I got the French press and my wife the Latte and both were yummy. My rating is based upon the food. The food was pricey and was just okay.. it seemed that everything that came out had parsley (chives) in it even my pancakes and a lot of it. The bacon on the menu said, "think slice" and came out super thin like 1/16th thin and I questioned to my wife if that was "thick slice". Wow, this was a great find! Vegan options in Biloxi are extremely sparse..dang near non-existent, so I was soooo happy to find this place. This place is super cute. The interior has a sleek and minimalistic decor, which I thought was super cool. The different shades/touches of blue compliment each other well...I mean, it is the Blue Dog Bistro after all. The service was great. The staff was super friendly. They made us feel very welcome. Now, the food was delicious. I got the vegan good dog breakfast and it was sooo good. I so appreciate the owners of this establishment for providing great vegan options. It means so much to be able to enjoy a great meal with family. My family, who are non-vegan, had the crab cake benedict and the steak and eggs, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Again, this place was awesome. It's Mother's Day, so we were prepared to wait. 21 minutes and we're in inside, being waited on by Summer, who made our experience great. Her and her entire team were clearly working extra hard this morning. My husband ordered Shrimp & Grits that were excellent. The grits were cooked just right with this flavorful sauce. Summer recommended the Panned Chicken Caprese for me and I'm so glad she did. It honestly tasted like Chicken Parmesan, minus the carbs. The chicken was crispy on the onside, juicy on the inside, and sat on top of cauliflower mash (my husband HATES cauliflower & he didn't even notice). Our children gobbled their fresh fruit, grits and bacon. Husband also ordered a pancake on the side. The cake was light and sweet. The restaurant was clean and appealing to look at. Pulled up at 2:00pm exactly, they close at 3pm. At this point I was praying they would sit us, and luckily they did! My boyfriend chose this restaurant because he is a big eggs benny fan, and upon arriving they let us know they already shut down the Poaching machine. To say he was disappointed was an understatement... but don't worry, the story gets better. So I asked the server some of her personal recommendations in hopes something would sound good to him. He got the crab cakes and Ricotta pancakes, I got the shrimp Ceviche. We are pretty seasoned travelers, if I do say so myself. That Ceviche was melt in your mouth FRESHHHHH, I loved the crispy wonton chips served with it. Perfectly airy and crispy/crunchy. And as for the boyfriend's meal- GET THE CRAB CAKES!!! Hands down, I think I have only ever had crab cakes just as good one other time. Blue Dog definitely uses fresh meat, and they do not skimp out on the crab:cake ratio. Pancakes were great, too. yum yum yum! our food came so fast even though there were 7 of us. we were sat quickly for a sunday morning. the menu is vast for healthy options or if you're craving a sweet treat. they were very accommodating with substitutions. eggs all came how they were ordered, which can be hard waiting for 7 meals to come out. the only 'complaint' would be the menu claims the bacon is thick cut but that was thinner than the regular bacon you buy at the grocery store. overall, a great place and i will definitely go back! read more

Very nice place and lots of good options. They luwak coffee which is surprising to see in a cafe and enjoyed as much as when I bought it personally. Had the blu dog plate which all was good except they put cheese on the hash which it doesn't state. Also tastes like they put cream cheese in it just not sure. The cinnamon rolls are very good as well and fancy. They do plate well here. Nice ambience. The workers don't seem as friendly but it was sufficient. This place was so fun! The atmosphere was inviting and light and the decor was so cute. We had a short wait for a table and we were able to chill on some fun blue couches. We ordered lots of food! We just wanted to try all of the things. Everything we had was great! The lattes took awhile to come out but that was ok. We had the praline bacon, biscuits and gravy, cheese grits, big dog breakfast with blueberry pancakes, and the conchon Benedict. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is the eggs on the Benedict were way over cooked. The eggs have to be runny on a Benedict and mine were over medium maybe even more. Everything else was fantastic! The service was good other than the long wait for the lattes which I am not sure was our servers fault. I would totally return to this restaurant. We wanted to try the peaches and burratta flatbread but they were out of peaches. Maybe next time. read more
