Minus the casinos in Biloxi, I know close to nothing about the local food scene. Enter the Yelp app, a hankering for hash browns, and I'm suddenly on my way to Buzzy's, which was truly buzzing with people inside and out. This is the consummate local joint and a popular one at that. The place is really a home converted into a doggy loving, NOLA themed restaurant. It's not a very big house, but enough to have a decent sized parking lot, one bathroom, and outdoor seating with some limited inside seating. Groups beyond 4 may struggle here, but I am sure they get big groups (especially on the weekends) all the time. After a short wait, my party and I were seated inside for some much needed air conditioning (#1) and we got to check out the ultra simple menu, which had prices as low as $3 for various items. I don't think we spent more than $25 to feed a group of 4. I forgot prices like this existed in 2019. And while they accept credit cards, they don't take bills above $50. Once the food arrived, I understood immediately why the prices were what they were: the portions are pretty small. My scrambled eggs were more like folded eggs and the hashbrowns was a square portion. The sausage was tasty, albeit a tad greasy. Within minutes I was done with my breakfast. And while I was hungry, it took me very little time to devour the meal. While I wasn't exactly full, I was content and I actually appreciated the simplicity of it all. Lastly, I thought the tye-dye staff was a hoot. I practically felt like I was eating breakfast somewhere in Oregon, but the Mississippi crowd semi-threw me into a loop. The experience was just like eating at someone's home and less so of a restaurant. I'm not sure I would be a frequent customer to Buzzy's, but I appreciate the vibe.

My seal of approval to a great breakfast!

Went by this morning after reading the Yelp reviews. Ordered the pancakes, eggs over easy and bacon (great bacon). Taking a cue from an old guy in the restaurant, I placed my eggs onto the pancakes and began eating. Very good breakfast, not a religious experience but very good! Service was quick and friendly and the coffee was good. Right in the heart of downtown Ocean Springs and close to the casinos in Biloxi. 11/24/2019. Another visit to Buzzy's and I have upgraded from 4 stars to 5 stars. Ordered the same as before. Never leave without getting the thick cut bacon. Also, my friend had the Biscuits and Gravy and said they are "Top Notch". Great coffee. The attached photo is my seal of approval!

A good example of the artificial food served here. Nothing seems real here. Not even the butter.

The appearance on the outside is quaint and homey. Atmosphere is decent. But that's the good part. We both ordered the two eggs (fried) and turkey sausage with hash browns. We asked for onions in the hash browns and were told , "ok". When our meal came out, eggs were done perfectly but the hash browns were obviously a previously frozen product as well as the turkey sausage. The "butter" at the table wasn't even real butter (pictured). Biscuits weren't homemade either. While the service was fine, if you're searching for that awesome southern breakfast experience. Don't search here. It appears that the only thing not frozen is the fried eggs because you just can't fake that. The rest of our breakfast was comprised of frozen food that we probably have in our own freezer. Ok, chalk up another restaurant to two visits in one. First and last.

Dog friendly breakfast place. With good food and decent prices. The staff here is super nice and the owner always comes around to say hello. I have eaten the breakfast tacos, the biscuits & gravy, and the Big Buzzy breakfast (?) which came with pancakes, eggs, and meat. All the food tasted good, no issues. There is also several parking lots available. -Overall great experience

2 egg omelet with bacon, ham, cheese and green pepper. I never eat the hash browns but they look great.

Perfect, affordable and adorable! I really enjoyed the food and service. I had a 2 egg omelet with bacon, peppers, cheese and ham. I do wish they would add some more veggies like spinach but still great!

Awesome breakfast spot! Staff is extremely friendly and very welcoming. VERY dog friendly too! In fact, they came out and enjoyed quality time w/ our doggies PLUS brought out some bacon for them! The food was outstanding! Very delicious. Must try

Cute little spot for breakfast. Good food, prices, and service! I had the breakfast tacos with a side of gravy. The gravy was very good, and I'm picky about my gravy!

Quaint and cozy breakfast place in downtown Ocean Springs. I had a 2 egg omelette with hash browns and raisin toast. The hostess and our waitress were BOTH super nice. Coffee was excellent and the hostess even made me a to go cup when we were leaving. :) Out good came out super fast after we ordered. I would definitely eat here again.

Buzzy is right.

Quaint little house made into a restaurant. Never would have found this without Yelp. Nestled on quiet walkable streets in this little town called Ocean Springs. We were seated right away. This is a small venue but it has seating outside in front and back. January 21, and the weather was good enough to sit outside. I had the breakfast tacos with hash browns. The food was adequate, the service was great. Serving sizes were small. I think most places serve too much food anyway. If I was a local I'd eat there often. After breakfast you can take a nice walk and experience this cozy little town right on the coast.

This restaurant has a cool idea with being dog themed. But the cook needs to figure out how to cook. My hashbrowns had a very weird taste to them and were barely cooked when I ordered them well done. I feel like I could have cooked a better breakfast in my microwave at my hotel room. This is my second attempt at trying to find a decent local breakfast joint in the area and have failed miserably. For the last week I'm here and I crave breakfast I'll stick with Waffle House or a good old protein bar.

The atmosphere and location are the best features of this place. Staff also kind. Food is very basic. When I go out to eat, I am looking for FLAVOR that I can't make at home. You won't find that here. Still, I'd go back. Really chill spot. Roosters walk around the house. Dogs are welcome to sit on the front or back porch.

FAKE BUTTER!

It doesn't matter what the food tastes like...a breakfast place should provide you with a good coffee experience!! This place has only has nasty Coffee Mate! I have one cup of coffee a day and I am NOT going to put a horrible unhealthy product in it. I am starting off this breakfast with a bad attitude. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED!! PS...even their "butter" is fake!

FLUFFY!! pancakes. Yummy.

I loved this place. Southern charm to the T. Atmosphere and people were friendly and inviting. Next timr I come to Mississippi this place is a must for breakfast. I ordered the Big Buzzy and it lived up to its name. The pancakes were the fluffiest I have ever had. I ended up sharing the pancakes as that I got full on half stack. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

Get the Coop Bowl. Or as they call it the BUZZYS Bowl. Food was phenomenal. Shrimp and grits are very good.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing. This morning we stopped at the Lazy Oak, a rather large…read morerestaurant tucked away in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. There is a large parking lot located on 1 side of the restaurant offering ample parking. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. We were met by the hostess upon entering and decided to dine inside. I saw 3 different dining rooms inside and a bar. So lots of seating. Our server, Alyssa was very nice and had a lot of patience with us. Thank you for that. She eventually took our order once we were ready and the food came out shortly later. I ordered a classic omelet with hashbrowns. The omelet consisted of 8 eggs. Wow!!! It was fluffy and tasted light. It took me about 30 minutes to consume all of it. Btw, Alyssa seemed impressed that I had. Well, all the plates were filled and my 2 friends were unable to eat all of their meals...good luck in advance! Thank you Lazy Oak and Alyssa for a delightful morning!

Visited on a Sunday morning, and it wasn't very crowded…read more There were a LOT aggressive flies outside, even though they had a large fan running high in the ceiling ( only 1). They may want to consider adding small table fans designed to keep flies away, as we were constantly dealing with flies while trying to eat. It was a sunny day with a light breeze, so the issue was still noticeable. I ordered the Berry Sherbet Mimosa, ( nothing special) For an appetizer, we had the beignets. They reminded me more of empanadas than traditional beignets. The green sauce was delicious, though-I would definitely recommend asking for extra sauce. The nicest part of the experience, besides our waitress, was that they recognize and honor veterans, which I really appreciated. Overall, it was a mixed experience with some good flavors and positive touches, but also a few details that could be improved. ( the one is for the flies )

No changes in the set meal. People were complaining and walking out. Manager arrogantly stated they put that on FB. Really. Don't follow you and reservations made at restaurant so why would anyone know. This guy in charge was rude. Crude. Unattractive and basically a jerk. People dressed to the 10 th were ushering out. First thing when I walked in the door, that's what I heard. I should've turned around and walked out right there. The hummus was without flavor, but I'm used to fresh robust flavors in my authentic hummus. The pita was clearly left on the counter without being covered and so it was chewy, stale, reminiscent of a dog eating a rawhide and not edible. Hard pass. Even though our server was very pleasant, there was extreme inconsistencies coming from the kitchen that could not be resolved. With the owner sitting at the front table and the daughter at the front desk, there was clearly a sense of tenseness throughout the establishment. After being in the Mediterranean myself, this is not a Mediterranean restaurant and it confuses me for it to say Mexican on the menu. I'll try back in another eight years.
