Great place to hang out on the deck under a ceiling fan and enjoy a great dinner while enjoying the ocean breeze. They offer a varied menu plus nightly specials. I was travelling through L.B. about 2:00 pm Sunday afternoon. This place is a favorite stop of mine, always good food choices! Before you read any further the crawfish, corn and potato soup was very tasty. Well I got an unexpected and not so pleasant surprise when I walked up to the register area to be seated. Their was this young black kid and a waitress standing there in a not so professional embrace. He was behind the counter and a young lady was back there also with him. He was standing behind her with his arms around her and holding and squeezing her boobs, yes her boobs and neither of them seemed at all embarrassed by me standing in front of them looking at them. Wow where to begin? Harbor View Café is amazing! The dining room is clean and bright with a nice view of the ocean from some tables. The staff was attentive but didn't linger. The food arrives in a timely manner even when the place was packed. We had lunch there on our first day in Long Beach and we were wowed by their sandwiches. I ordered the Sierra Chicken sandwich and it was the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. My sister ordered the chicken salad and my cousin ordered the tuna--both sandwiches were huge and delicious. The fries and onion rings were okay but nothing to write about. We had dessert too and they ARE worth writing about. The Key lime pie, carrot cake and a fantastic chocolate cake . . . Oh that cake was REALLY good. We came back for dinner and we ordered a shrimp salad, chicken Alfredo and my sister got the chicken salad again. Even though the place was packed my chicken Alfredo was outstanding. The chicken had a scrumptious thin light herb crust and the pasta was cooked perfectly! The shrimp salad was loaded with fresh shrimp and the lettuce was good and cold. Nice! The only thing I think is a con is the inside dining room is a bit loud when the place is full. Other than that one thing I can't think of another thing I'd change. We can't wait to come back the next time we come to Long Beach. read more

Good food. Service was also great. I love the wrap around porch, it creates a great setting for a nice breezy lunch. I had the chicken salad wrap and my husband had the Surf n Turf poboy. My wrap was delicious, it came with a spicy remoulade sauce (I think that's what it was) and I enjoyed it very much. The poboy was good but could've used a few more minutes in the toaster. I cook as a hobby so I think maybe my reviews are a little more tough than others but it may help out others like me. The restaurant itself is nice. We sat outside and got to see the kite festival going on while we ate. Food was just ok. I rarely salt things and had to salt the potatoes that came with the omelette. They're decently handed with the cooking oil too so keep in mind if you're sensitive to that kind of thing. Decent price for the quality. read more

Tried Harbor View a few years ago, and was unimpressed. The burger and fries were like cheap, frozen stuff. Service was OK. Recenty, I went back with some friends. I had their Burger & beer special, and was impressed. It was the same thing I had on my previous visit, but was a fresh, cooked to order burger, on a nice bun, with hot, tasty fries. Visited the Rest today for breakfast and the quality of the food and service was substandard. We asked for hot water with lemon and it came cold. The eggs on one order were over cooked. The waitress forgot to bring a pancake we order until we were almost finished with the meal. We were completely dissatisfied. This experience tells me that the staff is not well trained on superior customer service. I don't plan to return and would recommend this place to anyone read more

We had an early (for us) breakfast here sitting out on the deck. Wife had the omelette with spinach feta and tomatoes with the potatoes on the side, it was a huge portion of each! Very good, I would totally recommend it. I had the eggs Benedict as it normally comes and it was as good as I've had in New York City or in Charleston, the potatoes with the red and yellow onions was a bit much but maybe it's just my personal taste. Great place for brunch! We could not decide what to order as there were so many yummy looking items. Finally we decided to order the Kahlua Pork Benedict and the Chimichanga. We then split them so that each of us could try two different items. So glad we did as they were both delicious! We were also impressed with the wait staff as they were very attentive. The place was packed on Sunday morning with about a 15 minute wait time. It was worth the short wait. We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. read more

The Sierra chicken sandwich on honey berry bread and the home run is the red velvet cake. There is no place in the world with cake like that. The service was unorganized but so homely and friendly who cared about organization. We also like our credit card by accident. Probably because we were hypnotized by the food. My fiancé and I are new to the area and have been meaning to visit this place for a while. We just got there for lunch today and were surprised with delicious, fresh food that belies the typical Southern tradition of fried food drenched in fattening spreads and sauces. We'd kinda been expecting more of the same, but Harbor View Café proved us wrong! First, they have a full page of delicious-sounding salads, which is way better than the two or three salad options most restaurants around here have. Their menu is pretty extensive with lots of good options. My fiancé had the Harbor View Cheese Steak (pepperoni, sautéed onions, banana peppers) and the sweet potato fries and loved them. I had the Grand Chicken Caesar and couldn't believe how good the salad looked and tasted. The chicken breast appeared to be from an actual roast chicken, the croutons were really homemade, and the creamy Caesar dressing (which they gladly put on the side) was delicious. After that salad, I plan to try every salad Harbor View Café has. How nice to be able to eat healthy while still enjoying what you're eating! Harbor View also has vegetarian options, like the Veggie Medley sandwich ("Zucchini, yellow squash, & sliced apples served grilled"), Pasta Medley ("Tender pasta spirals tossed with an array of fresh veggies in our Italian dressing"), and Pasta Primavera ("Fresh zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms & tomatoes sautéed in a butter-garlic sauce and served over Angel Hair pasta"), so I finally have a place to take my vegetarian friends when they visit! We went today, and I'm baffled that anyone would complain about the prices! I had 2 Bloody Marys (amazing!), large grilled chicken salad, side of pasta salad, and ice cream for $25. That is a steal! All 5 of us enjoyed every dish we ordered. My only negative comment, which is why I gave 4 stars, is that the service was slow. We did our fair share of waiting.
