Always loved this store, they are so many locations and the prices can not be beat. So many items to chose from and they are so helpful.

How can you say anything bad about harbor freight. Sure its not pro quality, but usually when I buy a tool I only use it for what I'm doing and it will probably never see the light again. However the items I do use on a regular basis have held up quite well and are pretty well built. Cant say the staff is super friendly, but I will say the place makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. read more

I went to buy a Generator and two Tools. First off they do have good prices with coupons and all. But..... Service is bad. I mean first when I went to check out. they didn't bother to ask if I wanted help taking it out to my Car. I mean I know I'm a big guy and all. but how do they know If I could take it on my own? And boy I feel bad for Ladies or The Elderly who can't lift things up. Bad service guys. At least Lowes or Home depot offers help if you want or need it. And.... their Employees need to know their coupons. Ok so here I am giving them the coupon. And the cashier had the nerve to tell me it was expired. Ad it didn't until 11/29.2014. Store manager is a very unhelpful person.. I asked him if they had drywall screws and he just gave me the isle number. Obviously I'm asking because I can't seem to find them. His exact response was "re-check" isle 8. Like if I'm blind or something. I'll definitely take my business to Home Depot or tools r us across the street. read more

Employees here are confused and misinformed regarding coupons. Retail me not doesn't make coupons on their site. The retailer must create them. At all other harbor freight stores they accept the coupons. I was trying to use the 20 percent off coupon. The manager said she has a letter not to accept the coupon from corporate, I said show it to me and she said come back tomorrow in the morning and I will show you then as I'm too busy right now, I will call corporate office myself and see why this store is so ignorant. read more

They need to have a line just for returning items. Waited in line FOREVER behind 2 people that were just returning things.

I love how people expect to come to harbor freight and pay very little and complain about quality . U get what you pay for . You want better call snap on or mac and have them come to your home. They will gladly sell you a 3/8 ratchet for $100. Haha fools wakeup and do a little research ! read more

Selection and Value. While they do not have every tool, they do have a great selection and most of the time at great prices. I pick up a lot of odd or one use tools here, epically for car repair. If I am only going to use it a couple of time my first stop is here. Always look over the coupons to see what is on sale. Staff is always nice. read more

Service sucks and the employees do look upset all the time. I have seen several thugs inside steal items and walk right out, either they don't care or its against their policy. I love this place. There off brands are fantastically priced and most even come with lifetime warranties or you have the option to purchase extended ones. I have bought many items from here. Hand tools, power tools, air tools, and safety items such as gloves, vests and glasses. I heard about Harbor Freight about 9 years ago from a friend at work and have been shopping here strong ever since. This particular location relocated from a very old small space years back and is very nicely laid out now in a newer center. They nearly tripled in size. You really need to visit them and see what I'm talking about. read more

I don't know what folks are talking about, the employees were helpful and nice w me. Young man knew exactly where the tool I was looking for was. You got to know what this place is about. Value first quality second. Not that there isn't quality, you just have to understand what you're getting. You can pay more for nicer stuff elsewhere but you can accomplish your job on a budget with the stuff they sell here. Enough for my home projects. read more

It was a little further than what I expected but for the tools and items I needed made the drive and cost savings all worth it.

Cheap low quality tools. Why would someone buy their tools? It is a shame that I had return the same tool twice because I bent it when I tried to remove a crank bolt. Even the large crescent wrench claws I used were useless. The claws simply chipped away like head of a rusted bolt. It is hard to describe what happened. Simply the worse hand tools you can buy not unless you buy tools from dollar tree. At least, I had an easy no question ask exchange. They are not the same quality when I visited the Pasadena store around 15 years ago. read more

Just writing to comment on the truly poor customer service provided at the HFT in Montclair, CA.  During two recent visits it was extremely difficult for me to locate any salespeople on the floor, and the few I did manage to find were about as unhelpful as one could imagine.  They seemed interested in doing anything but speaking with me about my needs, and a couple were blatantly rude.  Furthermore, product signs/labels were lacking and/or confusing, particularly those associated with the trailers that HFT sells.   At a store like HFT one would hope and expect to encounter knowledgeable and helpful salespeople such as those present at places like Home Depot, but I sympathize greatly with any customer who visits the HFT in Montclair expecting any sort of polite, informed assistance.  The salespeople there--if one manages to find them--are rude and don't seem to know anything about the products sold in their own workplace.  In essence, that particular branch is an offensive joke.  That it remains in business is a complete mystery to me. read more

Awful experience! Christian was suppose to check for a part in the back and must have got side-tracked with emptying trash cans. As I wait for about 8 minutes off the side he walks right past me. I walk back to him in the front for him to tell me to check isle 6! When the part I was looking for was actually elsewhere. Christian's name tag said "supervisor," hence my review here. I will be taking my business to Amazon from now on. Loss of a $500 sale on a couple winches and future purchases from our local business. read more

I bought a mitre saw at Christmas. Finally got around to wanting to use it, to find out it did not come with a saw blade. Noticed that in the fine print on the box. But that is not what got me ticked off. Went to install the blade and could not open the assembly. I took it back today with the box and asked them if they could unlock it which I they were unable to do. The only way that they would replace it as an exchange for another one was to buy an extended warranty. Pretty bad that you need to use the warranty before you even get it turned on. Ah, Harbor Freight. It's like a candy store for all the men in the world who want to do great projects but probably won't do. For the unfamilliar, Harbor Freight basically just sells cheap Chinese tools. But that's unfair to the Chinese - they actually buy from a number of poorer countries worldwide. They are actually a pretty big company, so for a lot of their things, they get them custom-branded. With that being said, quality is what you probably expect; some things are pretty good, but there's a lot that just don't make the grade. The rule that most people apply to this store is to buy it if it's something you don't use regularly so long as you can't rent it for less money. However, I think that's a bit unfair. Sure, there are things like battery-powered tools that will lose their charge faster than you can bat an eye, but most of their plug-in tools are viable, and they tend to be pretty easily servicable, to boot. read more

came here with my husband specifically for a tow bar. this place is like auto-zone and home depot put together. they have alot of no-name brands, but reasonable prices. i saw alot of independent plumbers/construction people here. helpful staff AND helpful customers. read more

Wow, I haven't seen customer service this bad in a long time! Out of 4 members of the staff that I had talked to, only one was somewhat cordial. The others tried to pass me off to someone else or just completely ignored me. Management or corporate needs to take note. read more

I like this place because of the lifetime warranties the have, whatever shape its in get replaced low prices are GREAT!! I don't mind the waiting as long as I know its gonna get replaced. Online orders have good deals also read more

Their tools are crap. After foolishly spending several hundreds of dollars there. I won't go back. Everything I have bought either failed to work right, broke or burned out even if not used (cordless tools all burned up the batteries and chargers. Never got used).Things that broke: Impact sockets (with a hand ratchet), extensions, hyd. jacks and the jack on an engine hoist (bled to death), 12v electric impact wrench (low impact plastic), Vise Grips, pipe wrenches, Cordless Recip. Saw, (had a 5 minute run time, then battery & charger burned up) . Their cutting discs & "Chicago Pneumatic" tools are the only things in the place worth buying read more
