I have an older home and was having a difficult time finding some old style hinges for my kitchen remodeling project. After searching relentlessly online and in all the huge home improvement stores I decided to stop by Johnson's and just see what they had, they ended up having the hinges and everything I needed at a great price and the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. I had ordered so many hardware parts online that didn't fit and wasted so much time and money going all over the Inland Empire and even OC looking for these parts. I couldn't believe the little hardware store in my town ended up having them the whole time. I felt pretty stupid for not visiting here first but now I know to just skip all the run around and come here. Since then I've become a regular at this store. Most smaller mom & pop type stores have way higher prices than the big box stores but not here, the prices are good and I always find what I'm looking for. I totally wanted to give 5 stars but I had to take off one star for the parking situation, it's parallel street parking only. If it's a busy time of day then there is no parking close by and I have to either skip it and come back later or park way down or across the street. I've also gotten trapped in a space with idiots parking too close in front and behind me. Besides the parking deal everything else here is 5 stars. It's getting hard to support your local independent retailer these days. I went in looking for a simple sprinkler and they were from $23-$60. I went over to Walmart and found exactly what I needed for seven dollars. I know some people complain that Walmart puts too many independent retailers out of business, but there certainly a need for Walmart in our local communities when prices are so far apart. read more

Great place great service. I was looking for some nuts at Home Depot and they didn't have the right size Johnson had the right size and several different types. Then I walk in there and I see that they have all these rubs and marinades sauces and I'm like a kid in a candy store and I buy a bunch of rubs because I smoke a lot of meat and fishand my turkey for Thanksgiving. Haven't had a bad experience in this place till recently. I got a capacitor for an AC unit which was great because Home Depot did not have any. Got it, went home but it didnt work, though okay let me test it first, I went back the next day got a multimeter to test it. Turns out capacitor was bad which I mean it happens with this part but they did not let me swap it out because of no box..I think it is partially my fault but they did not want to work with me to swap it even though I saw some of the same employees who helped me out the previous day. I found it very frustrating, more or less the management kind of brushed it off so I ended up having to buy another one...I was frustrated and I did not want to give attitude to the cashier because she didn't know she was just the messenger so I dont blame her. This place used to be great, with knowledgeable staff and high quality items at reasonable prices. Now this place has gone to shit. The guy behind the counter today had a bad attitude and wanted $5 to make a copy of a Kwikset key. That probably means that everything in the store is overpriced. read more

They said I can return any item but cut copper pipe, I returned the next day attempting to return a water meter key which obviously didn't grasp and was no use but then was told I can't return any tools by the front desk, so then I asked if I can't get cash back can I get store credit and they said no I can only exchange for similar tool or same Worst customer service ever read more

So i had to deal with the cashier yesterday . It seemed like she rather be anywhere but there. Saw her just brush off a customer when she was asked if she worked there. I took something to buy at the counter and then i changed what i was doing so i took the part back to the bin where i got it. When i went back to finish the transaction she asked for the part by the wrong name, it made a difference shes asking for a nut when she was looking for a coupler luckily i could read her mind ‍ and i informed her i returned it to where i got it from . This is where the problem snowballed. It was just back and forth with her. She asked where it was i informed her and then she would ask again. I PUT IT BACK IM NOT BUYING IT whats so hard to understand. then an older gentleman came up and asked if he could help. I explained to him what was going on and he took care of the situation. Sucks that she may be the first and only person someone walking in deals with terrible first impression. I try to buy local but this makes it hard read more

I needed new fluorescent light panels for my kitchen but couldn't find them at any of the big box stores. Came to Johnson's Hardware and found exactly what I needed. The store's employee, Merced, was great as he cut the panels to size for me. I was happy to have found the panels that I needed but Merced really made my day ! read more

I was shopping around to have my Screens refreshed, they were 20 years old and very brittle. After calling several local Hardware Locations I ended up co tasting JOHNSONS Hardware off of Riverside Dr in Downtown Rialto. They had the best prices and quoted me that they could complete all 4 screens in several hours. Well they were.right I dropped them off Saturday Morning and they were done by noon. Friendly service and they looked brand new. The hardware store is loaded with everything imaginable, Smokers, Large Propane tank's, Cooking Grills and any type of screws that you might need I was looking for a certain type of Short Stainless Screw and the employee that helped me knew exactly where they were, try that in Je Depot or Lowes!! Customer service is terrible. I dropped in for a few bolts I needed. The thing is, it wasn't exactly what I needed, as I wanted the flanged version of the bolts I had. They had a drawer for them but the length I needed was empty. I see an employee was there helping another customer with his hardware so I wait patiently about 12 feet away from them very obviously waiting my turn. The employee finishes, ducks around the bolt cabinets and goes around me! gone. I look at another employee who was an isle over and he does that quick look-away and walks off as well. Now usually I have no problem asking for assistance but when it becomes very apparent that the employees are avoiding you then you know what, I'll see myself out. These guys weren't shy about helping other people though, heck they practically tripped over themselves to label other peoples baggies of hardware but when it came to me I might as well be a leper. I don't know what their problem was with me, maybe its that I'm young? tattooed? Not your average Tim Taylor looking dad in plaid and white new balance? Anyway... all I had to do was go down the street to Ned's and the lady working there actually acknowledged my existence. I would never recommend this place to anyone unless they are young and intend to shoplift because in that case the employees will pretend like they don't see you, you'll make out like a bandit. read more

I just moved into Rialto yesterday and I usually don't like to shop The Big box hardware stores because I like to shop locally whenever I can. I like that I can go in and buy individual screws, bolts, nails, etc. There's always an employee ready to help and make recommendations to make my life easier when fixing things lol. I "WAS" a loyal customer, but figure its time to jump ship, I went in looking to replace a standard hot water line for washer, simple, sales clerk convinced me to spend a few more dollars and get the steel braided line, done.... after a week of tweeking it, tightening, loosening, etc, etc, cleaning up the water on the floor from the slow leak I could never cease to fix, I took it back, with the reciept in hand just looking for an exchange for a standard not fancy line was told NO,,,,,because I no longer had the red ace label that was on it, you know the first damn thing people throw away I had every other tag, receipt, washers, hose in perfect condition, NO NO NO, they would rather chase off a 18yr customer then do a simple exchange, long story short I bought a new one from "HOME DEPOT", pretty sad and disappointed... read more

Great place. Stopped by for the first time today. I was trying to install my new license plates for my BMW, and neither Auto Zone or O'Reillys had the right size screws. So I came here. Only 8 cents a screw. A lot cheaper than the other guys. I bought what I needed and left. Turns out I got the right width, but got them a little too long. Went back and they exchanged them for the right size without a hassle. I would definitely go back next time first, before giving my money to a franchise. #shoplocal read more

Horrible place to shop! If you need assistance good luck because you won't get it. As a shopper who seeks to buy from small business whenever possible, I was less than satisfied with the people skills from those who work there. Upon arrival you won't get greeted but will immediately get followed around as if looking for items is suspicious. You can also ask where items are and you're likely to get pointed in a vague direction. What did it for me was that my three year old son needed to go potty so I kindly asked for use of the restroom and got denied. So I politely asked where the nearest available restroom would be, and the employee with laughter on his face replied I don't know but you can't use ours. Started going here over Home Depot or any other huge corporate stores because the personal customer service is great. Always someone to help with questions and friendly staff. Surprisingly I asked if they could cut a 2x4 for me and they did, that is something that wouldn't happen at a huge chain store. I would recommend and continue to go back. read more

This is my new "go to" hardware store. The customer service is exceptional. I went in for a hard to find hex socket. They didn't have it but they did have the size in an Allen wrench. It worked perfectly for what I needed. I will be coming here for all my home improvement needs from now on. read more

Been coming here for years as they have great customer service. Came in recently they hired a new cashier. She's a white girl about 26 years old with piercings. Anyways she's bipolar, I've gone in a few times and she's just as nice as everyone else and Half of the other times she's really rude and has a face like she hates her job. I think if they would fire her the place would have 5 stars. An older African cashier is the best in the store, great customer service. As a customer we expect for workers to be polite. read more
