I'm not a contractor, just a local homeowner in search of a replacement part for our upstairs toilet. Unfortunately, Lowe's did not have the part I needed. I decided to try Thompson Plumbing. Unfortunately, the service rep (will get his name later today) looked at a photo of the replacement part and started laughing. He went on to tell me that I got what I paid for - a cheap a** city give away water conservation toilet that aren't worth a s***. He went on to tell me that I will need to buy a new toilet. His final comment was that I need to buy a toilet like the rest of the people. All of this was done in front of other employees and about 4 customers who all had a laugh at my expense. I went home and got online with Home Depot and I can pick up the part tomorrow. Extremely rude and unprofessional. read more

One stars because I had to return the part which was not helpful did not. serve the purpose which I picked up for from Thompson pluming with in 24hr i came to return the item they told me they charge restocking fee the casher or service person said he is following rules and does not make the rules. Strange how people run business these days and charging not 10% but 25 % restocking fee. To put an item back on the shelf that was never unwrapped!! Thats highway robbery They must have made millions in restocking fee. I am not a plumber or contactor. MAKE SURE YOU GOT THE RIGHT PART OR YOU PAY 25% RESTOCKING FEE. They mainly cater to the plumbing pros in the area and don't have the time, energy or patience to help find a hard to get part. I'm ok with that by the way, I get it. Spoke with Nick and showed him the broken geriatric part I took from under the sink. Said he hadn't seen that part but once in his plus 30 years working there (almost like seeing a 2-headed snake). Incredibly, he went back and found the piece I needed, saving me $475 from having a plumber come and completely gutting and replacing the pipes under the sink. Friendly and helpful service. I went to Home Depot to buy a shower valve to replace our broken one and the part was so old that the associate referred me to Thompson Plumbing Supply. I went to Thompson and showed the sales associate a picture of the valve that I took with my iPhone. The sales associate found exactly what I needed in less than 5 minutes and even made sure that I bought some plumber's grease! Everything fit perfectly and our once leaky shower is back to normal. read more

Needed a Delta shower mixing valve cartridge. Went to Home Depot but they only had generic brands on display. The associate said he was sure there were Delta brands up top and got a ladder to check. He showed me what Delta product they had but it didn't look exactly like the old, worn one I had brought for reference. He suggested Thompson's since they carried specialty parts. BTW, the Delta item was $37.98. Went to Thompson's and told them what I needed. The employee brought out the exact one that Home Depot showed me. I told him it doesn't look exact. He said it was the exact model I need, the company had modified it slightly but it would work. I asked how much knowing the Home Depot price. They wanted $68 for the same exact part. DOUBLE! It's not even a specialty part. I told him the Home Depot price but he was indifferent to say the least. I said forget it and snapped a pic of the product before deciding to go to Lowe's which was a couple miles away. Found the exact same item at Lowe's for the same price as Home Depot. I made doubly sure it was right with the pic I took. Stuck to the back of the computer monitor was a piece of paper that had some convoluted return policy. From what I could understand, you had to ask for "permission" to return a purchase which made no sense. Glad I didn't buy anything from them. These guys might be knowledgeable but they're markup is insulting. I'll never go back there for a common plumbing product that I can get for half the price at the big box stores. A couple extra bucks would be understandable but $30 more? I could have literally purchased two of these for the Thompson's price. Please! read more

By far the worst customer experience I've ever experienced we walked in looking for a specific piece the guy came back with a box and when I asked how would I know it's the right part that I'm looking for (keep in mind I had the use old part in my hand) he said he didn't (he couldn't even open the box to show me to make sure it was the right part) on top of that his attitude was horrible looks like he was ready to have lunch since his meal was in front of him I felt rush and no solution was given I am pissed! Very disappointed with how they treat non contractor (general public) customers. I bought a flapper for my toilet, and was told it would work. When I got home and tested it, it was not the right size. I dried off the flapper and repackaged like new. When I tried to return for a refund, they said I was out of luck since they consider it used now. This was literally 45 minutes after I had purchased. They were very rude and refused to even discuss it. The owner was especially dismissive and rude. Terrible customer service. Man this place is awesome. I was looking for a flare tailpiece for my sink, and first went to home depot. They had the piece but said I would have to cut it to size at home. I decided to give this place a try after googling it. I was helped right away, and the guy that helped me was able to get me the pieces, and cut it to size for me. When I got home it took me 2 minutes to install it! I need to switch more of the pieces to my sink, so i'm definitely going back here again! Great job guys. read more
