After I spoke to the owner, I received a partial refund that was fair. I'm unable to shop there again due to store being too far from home.

Although I was about to purchase a hot tub from a large, well known dealer in Corona, I decided to look at Custom Spas Direct, which has good online reviews and happens to be very close to our house. I'm glad I did. I was not familiar with the Vita spa brand that Custom Spas Direct sells. There's very little information available online. After doing some digging, I determined that Vita is a decent, mid-range spa with competitive pricing. Nothing fancy, but it's built with good components from companies like Balboa Water Group. Dealing with Custom Spas Direct has been fantastic. It's a small company and we interacted directly with Jim Galpin, the owner. Jim is a straightforward guy and he was very helpful in choosing a spa. Since I was unfamiliar with Vita, I had a lot of questions and he patiently answered all of them. He quickly responded whenever I sent him a text with a question or request. After the purchase, he was super flexible with regard to delivery, setup timing, coordinating with the electrician's schedule, etc. The delivery and setup was quick and well done. The installer did a good job answering all of my questions. We've had the spa six months and have had a couple of minor issues. One was probably due to user error on my part and the other was not. In both cases, Jim responded to my texts immediately and quickly resolved my issue, even during a holiday week. I'm so glad I purchased from a local dealer that provides such fantastic service after the sale. I'm sure a larger dealer would not have given us the same treatment. Thanks Jim! Five stars!

I regret hiring California Pools Claremont and I will have to live with what is likely the worst…read morefinancial decision in my life. Rick is friendly and seems knowledgeable while having a very nice/fancy showroom.... but..... Out of 7 quotes I received, California pools was the highest. I received bids ranging from $21k to $40k to have my existing pool refinished with pebble, new coping, new heater and water line tile. I also added a baja shelf where my existing steps were. Nothing too extravagant, but what's funny is that Rick mentioned a couple of times that "with your limited budget"... excuse me? My limited budget? I spent double with you to have the same work done and I would have gotten a better finished product if I would have chosen a different company. Here are the details: Demolition began in February/beginning of March, the project was completed according to California Pools in July/August. Demolition went smooth. So far so good... but then the problems began... Yes, it rained more than we usually get in our area and I understand that will delay any project, but this was more than just rain delays..... Then, the next step of installing the travertine coping and tiles. Two months later by May 9, the coping and tiles were installed. We chose a nice glass tile around the spa and deep end of our pool to accent the water line tiles. Took two weeks to install the tile... which seemed like a long time. I had my doubts of the experience of this team, not to mention if these were even employees of California Pools (while I can't fully confirm, i have come to a conclusion that every team from demo, tiles, pebble were all subcontracted) I know for sure the tile and pebble teams were not California Pools employees as I saw other company names on their trucks. The tiles were installed incorrectly and almost every glass tile had giant air pockets between the tile mastic/mortar which would not have been acceptable to anyone (pictures shown) When I mentioned this to Rick, he said his team installed them correctly and initially he tried to say it was out fault for choosing glass tile? LOL He said he believes the tiles were installed correctly but after some back and forth he agreed to take a look for himself even though I sent pictures to him after the install. Immediately upon inspection, he admitted that this tile team messed up. We ended up tearing out all the glass tile and they did it over. June 7, the tiles were reinstalled. Noticed two pieces of cracked coping, Rick brushed it off saying there is no way these guys installed broken pieces. They obviously messed up the glass tiles, but no way installed cracked coping? hmmm... 2 weeks later, the pebble install begins. I met with Rick in my backyard in the morning before leaving for work. I stood next to him watching the crew apply the pebble mix into the pool, I told Rick how anxious we are to see the glass pebble option that we contracted and purchased extra for originally.... There aren't samples of the pebble with glass option this so being able to see it for the first time would be nice... He looks at me and says what glass pebble option? I was in shock at this response, I told him, we chose to add the glass pebbles for an extra $800 or so... He immediately left to pick up the glass and said he hopes it's not too late to add. As he was walking out of my backyard, he said to me, "if it's not on the contract, you are paying extra for the glass pebble and we will add it to the total." I replied to him telling him, I know it's on the agreement and we are already paying for the "option" and for what ever reason its not contracted, I will pay for it. Received a text an hour and a half later saying that they got the glass in the mix on time (I have my doubts about this as I will explain later). Also, a text shortly after saying that he also checked the contract and the glass pebble option was on the original agreement. (Looking back at this, I wish I would have never mentioned it) June 23... finally the pool is full with water, the first round of chemicals were done as we paid around $500 to have Rick complete the start up, which is "crucial". What I thought would take around 3 to 4 weeks once a week to "start up" the pool, there were only 2 visits afterwards. My biggest issue, the finish of the pebble is rougher than any concrete at my house. The 3 or 4 times my kids tried the pool, they were constantly scraping and cutting themselves. I even drew blood on my knees the couple times I tried, but according to Rick, this is normal and brushing the pool will eventually smooth it out? LOL Not according to the pebble mfg or the National Plasterers Council. Now I'm being ignored even after Rick agreed to come out and polish out the rough areas. Since they are now non responsive, I hope others see this.... I will be hiring another company to fix their mess.

I already had a pool with this…read morehouse I bought 4 years ago but it was just one of those in ground vinyl liner pools and it was done in a way that now 23 some years later it's run its course and it was best to start from scratch and completely redo everything and go for the real pool. My challenge was I'm on a 3 level half acre lot with the pool set up in the center so this project was going definitely be different than the average back yard setup. I got a few estimates from a few different pool companies and a very good general contractorI know here in Rancho referred Kenny and Dan. They showed me there ideas and it was a way better set up than anyone else had proposed. Of course this plan was going to cost more money however Dan said if we build a pool it's something that's going to be real nice and you're going to be proud of it. I thought about it for a few weeks as these numerous pool companies all called me asking me if I was still interested as we were approaching the season to start at the end of the year and I decided I ultimately didn't want to cut corners doing more entry-level plans so I went the distance with blue waters plan. As you can see in the photos it came out came out spectacular. I have twice the deck area that I had prior a spa a heater water falls equipment that does everything by an app and in time plan to put a bar area in the large open area. They even redid did my 100 something foot wall that was starting to fall that me and my neighbor split. Buying a pool is a lot of money, but ultimately you just wanna be happy when it's done with no regrets so if you're looking to have a a pool built with no worries and to the best of it's ability You definitely want to talk to blue water. Thank you Kenny and Dan and there awesome crew who made this possible.

I highly recommend going to their showroom to select your colors. They were very patient with me (and helpful) when I went with my daughter. Since the install, the team continues to answer our questions about little things. The structure is super high quality and beautifully crafted. I recently purchased a custom outdoor kitchen island from Tropicana, and while the quality of the…read moreunit itself is impressive, the overall experience left me disappointed due to issues with communication and the installation process. For a project costing approximately $36,000, I expected a more thorough pre-installation process. In my opinion, someone from Tropicana should have visited the site before fabrication or delivery to verify measurements, confirm utility locations, and ensure the structure would fit properly in the designated area. A simple site inspection could have identified potential issues before installation. There was a measurement discrepancy that required the unit to be modified. I appreciate that Tropicana corrected the issue at no additional cost, and I want to acknowledge that they did take responsibility for making that correction. However, the larger concern was the lack of clarity regarding utility hookups. I was later referred to information on the back page of the contract regarding these requirements, but I never received or reviewed that page during the purchasing process. Had those details been clearly provided and discussed upfront, I could have made the necessary preparations before delivery and installation. Because the island was installed without identifying these access challenges beforehand, I have incurred additional costs. My electrician charged an additional $300 due to the difficulty accessing the electrical connection, and I now need to hire a plumber for approximately $500 because the access area is too confined for me to complete the plumbing connections myself. The Tropicana team has been responsive and professional in addressing some of these issues, and I appreciate their willingness to work through problems. However, for a premium product at this price point, I believe the installation process should include a site verification and a much clearer discussion of customer responsibilities before installation begins. The island itself looks great, and I hope to enjoy it for many years. My feedback is intended to help Tropicana improve the customer experience for future customers investing in a significant backyard project.

If you're reading this, there's a good chance you're exactly where I was a few weeks ago getting quotes, comparing contractors, reading every review you can find, and wondering who's actually being honest with you. Pool renovations aren't cheap. When I started getting estimates, it felt like every company wanted to turn my pool resurfacing project into a complete backyard renovation. I would ask about resurfacing the pool and somehow end up with a quote to replace half the yard. Some of the estimates I received were two to three times higher than what I ended up paying. Then I met Johnny. What I appreciated right away was that he wasn't trying to sell me on everything possible. He actually took the time to explain what needed to be fixed, what could stay, and what would just be a waste of money. There were multiple things other companies wanted to replace that Johnny told me were perfectly fine. That was the moment I felt like I found someone I could trust. Honestly, it felt less like talking to a salesman and more like talking to someone who genuinely wanted us to make the right decision. Once the project started, everything happened exactly the way he said it would. Every morning around 7 a.m. the crew was there and ready to work. No delays. No disappearing acts. No excuses. No surprise phone calls telling me I suddenly needed to spend thousands more because they "found something." They took our old rough, itchy fiberglass pool and completely transformed it into an Aqua White mini pebble finish that looks incredible. The water color is beautiful, the finish feels amazing, and it honestly feels like a completely different pool. What impressed me most wasn't just the finished product, it was the integrity throughout the entire process. In a world where it feels like everyone is trying to squeeze every last dollar out of you, Johnny was the exact opposite. He treated our project like it was his own and treated our money with respect. The project was completed in less than a week, the quality was excellent, the communication was great, and the final bill was exactly what we agreed on. If you're on the fence, my advice is simple: get whatever quotes you want, but make sure Johnny is one of them. I did the shopping around. I asked the questions. I compared the numbers. Looking back, choosing Just Pools & Spas was one of the easiest decisions we made. Thank you Johnny and the entire team. You guys absolutely crushed it.
