I had no customer service issues personally as others posted but it's retail, can't expect everyone going to be a shining star...like Walmart I come for the price not the experience. Too bad because the cashier lady was really nice. The rudest HF employee I have encountered are that they are to the point and not smiley. I found it very clean and organize and less stinky than most HF stores. They all smell like cheap made in china plastic but here it's tolerable. If you do lots of crafts and projects you might find some goodies here. I bought my leaf blower here and some walkway lights are they're always reasonable and work good enough. read more

I do a LOT of constant work on the house and cars, and constantly need supplies, tools and equipment. When I first learned of Harbor Freight ages ago, I was not impressed with what they had. Over the years, however, I've watched the quality get better to the point where I swear many of the products are identical to branded products. Over the years I've gotten a good bit of stuff here, although I wouldn't get HF for everything - I reserve it for commodity items or factory-branded items, and I do my homework first. Some of the items I've gotten here are ok - just ok - such as my 1/2" impact sockets. They do the job. They're good quality ... do I wish they were easier to get on and off and had a different finish ? Sure, but for the price and the rare occasion that I use impact sockets they're perfect. I got torque bars here; convince me that they're any different than any other torque bar set - and this set had a rating I needed that others don't. I got anodized aluminum lug nut sockets here as well ... which was frivolous, but they're decent. I think the best item I got here was a tool cart that's uhm, "surprisingly similar" to a SnapOn Bluepoint that Snapon sells for over a grand - at HF it cost a couple hundred. Yes, it's thinner gauge metal, but it's still every bit as functional at a fraction of the price. They have some very good deals on pneumatic tools as well, including micro-impacts. I have a die grinder here that was honestly dirt cheap and did the job I needed it to do quite nicely. I've bought tiny rare-earth magnets here that were considerably cheaper than you could find anywhere else. Jack stands, even some hand tools. Bottom line is, if you research what you're interested in, and choose carefully, they have some real deals going and in many cases are offering some good quality. They do have some low end stuff too though, so like anything else caveat emptor. It is definitely not the only tool and supply store I patronize (gotta hit HD for that Milwaukee!) but it's definitely on my list of "I wonder if HF has it for cheaper". I've found the service to be fine, although sometimes a bit persnickety ... i did have a bit of a small challenge with a return once, but have had other returns that went just fine. When i bought the cart, the manager offered to help load it into my vehicle with me. I think the cashiers are nice too, but I go out of my way to treat people in stores personably ... perhaps I get what I give ? read more

I purchased a item from this store that didn't work. I return to this store with the item with no receipt to exchange it NOT get money back. As a Fast Track Member they have the ability to track your sales but they refuse to take the time to do so. I just want a item that works first of all. You sold ME defective merchandise. There's nothing wrong with the store per se. The store is very clean and organized. However, the employee at the cashier was very rude to me. She asked if I want to sign up for coupons, and I said no. She went on to publicly shame me for "not wanting to save money." Talked very loud so the whole world can hear. She then went on to say: "it's usually men who don't want to save money. My boyfriend is just like that. He goes to the grocery store and pays four times the amount I do." Then the female customer behind me joined in on the heckling. It was like a sexist attack. I told her I don't ever come here, and she said "well you might if you get the coupons." I mean... the whole point of coupons is to influence people into visiting the store, and she was not subtle at all. The shopping experience at the store was good except for the checkout. I like going to Harbor Freight in Glen Burnie since that was the closer location, but now they have one in Catonsville and I couldn't be happier. They always have what I'm looking for when I go there I can't wait until I need a new tool to shop here. read more

I had a job interview with a guy named Nick. The interview went fine and he said he would call me back at the end of the week. Of course he didn't so I called him numerous times but wasn't able to talk to him. 6 months later and I had another job interview with two female managers. That went better than the first. I was polite, I answered questions fully, and it seemed like they both liked me. 40 min after the interview was over, I got an email saying that I didn't get the job. I called them to ask if they could give me constructive criticism for my interview. One of the manager just responded with "the position was filled". Um that wasn't my question, and I really don't believe that's true because I was the only person in the store having an interview at the time. Im sure they did me dirty like this because one of the questions they asked was if I would tell them about my employment gape. I responded and told them it was because of a mental health reason. She sounded understanding at the time. But clearly she majored in performing arts in college before and gave an academy award winning fake reaction. It's annoying how they wasted my time and got my hopes up TWICE!! Harbor freight why would you rather hire trash people instead of an eager employable young soul? Maybe if you had a better staff you would get more customers. Just saying but y'all probably don't care anyways. read more

I am not a frequent visitor here, but each time I do go, the store is well stocked, spotlessly clean and the staff is helpful and friendly.

I love that there is a HF in Catonsville now, it couldn't be more convenient. It is a great place to purchase specialty tools, especially that tool you may only use one time. I think the quality of their higher-end tools has greatly improved over the past few years. For instance, the Earthquake 1/2 inch 20V impact wrench is a really good tool. The Catonsville store is still new, so the staff might still be working out kinks, but it would be nice if they would look up when an out-of-item stock is coming in. I went to purchase a slide hammer last week and they were out of stock. The cashier told me that there was a truck coming on Wednesday, but didn't seem able or willing to check if this tool would be on that truck. She did let me know which other local stores did have the hammer in stock (ultimately went to Parkville/Carney to get it). Anyhow, not a huge deal really, I'm still happy to have a store close by. read more
