I haven't been to this location in a long time but happened to drop by 12/11/2021 at about 11:30am. I ordered a medium black tea with the cheese topping and egg pudding. It was delicious and just what I remembered. However, the rating of the one star is because I found a gnat in my drink. I drank mostly all of the drink and opened the top lid for my son to finish off and there was a dead gnat floating in the cheese topping. Had I not opened the lid, I wouldn't have discovered it and ingested it. In fact, my son would've rated the gnat. Don't think I'll be back. But mostly about the drink, we ordered 2 large ube puff milk teas and It just mostly tasted milk tea not much ube and asked for less ice and didn't even fill our drinks to the top. I finally made time to check out this location, so now I get to throw in another 5-star review! Happy Lemon is a rapidly growing chain in the Bay Area, and this location in the back corner of one of the sections of the GIlroy Premium Outlets - near Forever 21, if you know where that is - is one of their newer outposts. The outlets can get crowded at times, but it was easy to find parking and there weren't any other customers - and, appropriately, barely any employees compared to busier locations. It was therefore a quick, prompt experience. I'm basically treating Happy Lemon as a chain because they surely have aimed to achieve consistency while expanding to double digits. Thus, I'm not exploring their menu extensively. I simply ordered an A1 - Green Tea with Salted Cheese. At $4.75 for the large size, my favorite drink costs either the same price as or not much more expensive than the closest San Jose location, and it tastes just as good. The jasmine is as intense, and the sweet creamy topping is exactly the same in flavor and texture as I've come to expect. I was satisfied with the adjustment to 50% sweetness and 0% ice (no underfill). By the way, if you're new to this sort of thing, sip via the lid at the start, but consider swirling or straw-ing later on because the cheese topping doesn't seem to blend as well into the drink. Also, consider the tiramisu salted cheese drinks for something even sweeter-leaning, or the Blended Whole Lemon series if you like lemonade. I might be more inclined to rate Happy Lemon in general as a 4, but this is easily the best option for bubble tea and related tea drinks in this remote part of the county. For locals, this more than satisfying enough to avoid driving at least half an hour north to the actual hub of this sort of beverage. read more

Not sure where this place has been my whole life, but now that I've had it I crave it!! I haven't had a beverage that I've craved in a long time. On my way to the East Bay Area I stop here at the Gilroy Outlets for a pit stop. One day I decided I'd try this spot for a boba tea. I decided to try the topping referred to as "salted cheese" and I was not disappointed! It isn't really cheese of course, more like a thick cream. It has a slight salty flavor that is a perfect combination of savory/sweet. The only combination I've had is the black tea boba. It's listed as a top favorite on the menu. And, the first time I had it I ordered it hot. Mind blown!! So delicious! Sipping the hot black tea through the salted cheese topping was absolutely addicting. I couldn't stop dreaming of this hot, sweet beverage all week! So my next trip I had to stop here again and ordered the same thing only cold this time. Guess what? Still delicious !!! Kids love the drinks, I love the waffles. This review is for cleanliness and hygiene practices. First off, this place is very dirty. The walls have literal dirt on them. You can see it on the walls, the Christmas display they have up. The kitchen area is even more disgusting. The sink doesn't look like it's been cleaned ever, neither does the wall behind the sink or the floor. I understand it's busy, these are high school kids and what not, but man, it's gross. Second issue, these kids were clearly not taught how to work with food. Working the register, cleaning equipment, washing dishes, with the same gloves used to prep food. Nasty. If you are going to wear gloves, you change them after using the register, or after sweeping and mopping! And no, you don't wash dishes and dry your gloves with a paper towel. You change your gloves! I walked in and the kid was sweeping, rang me up and proceeded to sweep. But then with the same gloves, he started preparing food. I asked him to change his gloves and he protested that he was only touching the handle. Which I told him doesn't matter. So instead of changing his gloves, he took them off and continued to handle food with his bare hands and didn't bother washing them before. Then the other kid working, who was preparing food, washed dishes, then proceeded to dry her used gloves and start preparing food. Again, had to tell her, change your gloves. She hesitated but then did so. If these kids are cleaning the food prep area, sweeping the floors (with same broom that's probably used in the bathroom or the handles have been on the floor), throwing out trash with those same gloves they are preparing your food with, they are essentially exposing you to possible sickness. It's just flat out disgusting and disturbing that they aren't taught better or lack common sense. I'm surprised they don't have an F from the health department. read more

I was craving boba and thinking that there wouldn't be any at the outlets and then we saw someone pass by with a cup and we were super excited that there's a Happy Lemon! We got the Mango Lemon Slush & Okinawa Brown Sugar Fresh Milk. The mango slush was SO refreshing and was sweet and tangy at the same time. The brown sugar was good as well, but it need more brown sugar and sweetness even though I got 100% sweetness. I guess I could have technically asked them to add more. I first tried Happy Lemon in SoCal, so I was happy to see this one opening in a convenient location, especially without having to drive further into San Jose. I usually order the mango green tea with half mango boba and half regular boba. This order is always so tasty and refreshing! The pricing is pretty high (over $5 for one drink) so it's just a once-in-awhile treat for me. In addition, there are no coffee items so don't stop by here if you're looking for a coffee drink! This is the only good boba place in Gilroy. Of all the times I've been here (and it's been a lot), I've never had anything less than 5 star service! The boba is always the right consistency and the drinks leave me wanting more. When I went in today, the cashier patiently helped me choose a drink since I wanted something with matcha but no dairy. I ended up getting the soy version of the Matcha Latte without the salted cheese. Then when I was unsure about getting it 50 or 75% sweet, he was kind enough to make me a small sample of what 50% sweet was like without me asking. Wow! This Happy Lemon location is a god send! Conveniently located at the outlets (Nike side to the left of the humungo Forever 21 location). I typically only order 3 drinks from here and they are: Mango Matcha (Chunky smoothie texture :)) Grapefruit Green Tea Passion fruit Green Tea The Mango Matcha is unique and oh so refreshing. This is the drink I typically order when I walk into a Happy Lemon location. When I'm craving a regular drink....my other go to's are the grapefruit and passion fruit green tea. They are 3/5 for me, not the best but doable. The Mango Matcha is what keeps me coming back, but since this location is so close to my stomping grounds, I'm sure I'll be trying new drinks out! Must try if you've never had it. P.S. Most folks who enjoy Happy Lemon love their "salted cheese" drinks.....think dessert cream. Happy Lemon makes me happy! This is an amazing addition to the outlets! It is so nice to get a refreshing drink or dessert drink when shopping. I came here twice and tried the Oreo milk tea with tiramisu salted cheese foam and the kumquat tea with lychee jelly. The drink was more sour than I expected but it was refreshing. I didn't know it'd come with lychee jelly. I like that you can adjust the sweetness and ice level. When you order, your name or order number appears on a TV screen so you can track when your drink is ready. Most other Happy Lemons don't sell food items but I believe this one has waffles (at least, I smelled them!). This place is located in the Gilroy Premium Outlets across from the Nike outlet. The service here is pretty quick. With COVID, there's no indoor or outdoor seating but it does exist. Happy Lemon is one of my favorite boba chains. I like their cute lemon-head girl icon and their salted cheese series. I've been to 3-4 of their other locations in the bay area and I'd say they're comparable other than the addition of the waffles here. read more

We really enjoyed Happy lemon they had lots of options for the modern person. My children love boba and lychee so getting the drinks here we're very easy and cheap. The location is great you can go shopping and guaranteed you're not going to get up charged for just a tea drink. Just a little tip as well most of the flavors have hints of lemon that are very strong so if you're not a sour lover you might want to try the sweet drinks that they have which is the machi. Also the regular boba is more sweeter than the clear crystal bobas so your children will thank you for this knowledge LOL. There's also a ice cream shop next door and a bathroom which makes it easy for a One-Stop shop for the kids. It was a very clean place and the customer service was great definitely giving it five stars. Waited over 20mins or more to order because they had a difficult customer ahead of me. Only came for a bubble waffle and they told me they won't do it since it was now 30 minutes before closing, even though I waited so long and arrived well before then. Poor customer service, I understand having a rule, but this could've been an exception considering it wasn't so late and they helped the difficult customer for so long but couldn't honor a waffle at 30 mins before closing.
