I recently visited Fifth St Coffee and thought it was such a cute little coffee shop! They serve hot coffee, tasty treats, and have such a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly and kind, and the service was very speedy, I was in and out in about 5 minutes. I ordered a caramel macchiato and a danish, and both were so good. I'll definitely be returning again! The inside had a rustic feel and also featured a cute little area with small gifts for purchase. I ended up buying two stickers while I was there. They also offer seating both inside and outside, and parking was easy to find, which made the visit even better. read more

Everything is worth coming back for, the decor, the downtown feel, the smells, and definitely the flavors! Gave it a 4/5 because I'd rather have mediocre coffee that gets the job done than watch a fleet of baristas who couldn't bother to spread some morning levity via a smile. Especially the very serious natured cashier on a Sunday morning. The mood was palpable behind the coffee bar. I'm not a never say never, because despite the muted service, giving off vibes, the Carmel bourbon latte w oat milk was on the grail scale of coffees. Mr. E said his cold brew tasted like water. The mocha was good. Their dulce de leche is one I'd like to try if we ever go back... but that may be a minute. Do or don't- it may have been a fluke morning. We came here on a Saturday around noon time and it was lively but not very busy. Walking in though, you can really smell the coffee and it's so good! I ordered the Peach Matcha with regular (though it seemed like there were substitutions available). Although it wasn't an option on the menu, my friend was able to order a Horchata Matcha. We also were able to try the garlic ice cream (which was yummy) - definitely more a baked garlic flavor! The Peach Matcha was good but a bit too sweet for my taste. It was still a solid matcha nonetheless and you can really taste the hints of the peach flavor in the matcha who is nice. Overall, this was a great coffee shop and will be back if I'm in the area again! read more

Walking downtown trying to find a pick me up spot while I waited for an appointment and came here. The down side only one person walking and took forever to take my order but understood since she was the only one there. It would have been nice if she would have said something like let me finish making these coffees and I'll take your order. Honestly I think since most of us are use to Starbucks and other coffee shop chains that when it comes to speed they are typically fast. Anyways I ended up getting the iced mocha and good atmosphere. I really liked my drink and the vibe it's trying to give out. Overall decent place but again not fast so that's the deal breaker. Ordered 4 coffees with decaf & regular - which all were so delicious! My favorite is the Mexican mocha by far the best ever tasted. Service was counter staff was super nice, recommendations were spot on and quick. The crowd followed up is lol. It's pretty quiet with an indie music vibe playing in the background which is nice. The Fam and I had a fun filled weekend in Gilroy. Of course, we (Mrs. And I) needed to have our morning coffee. This seemed to be one of the only spots in town, according to my Yelp search, offering pourover options. And they had at least six different pour-over choices on the menu. I ordered the Ethiopia Sidamo as a pour-over, and the Mrs. ordered a pumpkin spice latte. To my surprise, my pour-over arrived incredibly fast. Even before the latte was done. I wasn't expecting a slow brew machine, but it was remarkably quick. Unfortunately, the taste was underwhelming: the coffee tasted diluted, lacking the delicate flavors I'd hoped for. It felt more like a weak Americano than a proper pour-over. Now, I didn't see the barista brew it, as we were too busy taking care of the Little one, so I can't say for sure what happened. But from my experience, and from the timing as well as the taste, I suspect the barista made me an americano. Maybe thought I didn't know coffee and wouldn't know the difference? That or the extraction for the actual pour over was underdone or just off. As much as I love a barista's work, I've made better pour-overs at home. The ambiance was cozy, however, and the staff were friendl. It's also always nice to see a local roastery. The fact that they even offered pour over is a plus as well. I wanted to love this place, and there were certainly positives but my pour-over experience didn't live up to my expectations. The flavor was just lacking. Stopped by Gilroy and needed some coffee and found this gem! Blueberry muffin was huge and delicious! I got the hazelnut latte half sweet and it was perfect sweetness and the coffee was really smooth and fragrant. I would love to try some of their other pastries/baked goods next time! This is a charming community coffee shop that roast their own coffee. Additionally they offer an assortment of pastries, some of which are scratch made in house. They also offer ice cream. The shop smells divine upon entering. The coffee offered includes pour overs and specialty coffees along with a classic and a matcha menu. The regular latte and the matcha latte were very light in taste. We also got a hazelnut latte that was good and leaned on the sweet side. We also grabbed a made from scratch banana bread for our hike and it was very tasty. Overall great experience. Indoor and outdoor seating. Casual. Good service. It leaned more on the chai side, so I didn't get much pumpkin flavor. Brown Sugar Cinnamon Latte (3/5): This one was a bit more bitter and lacked the expected sweetness and flavor. It had a stronger coffee taste. Our drinks came out quickly with no issues. The cafe was pretty empty when we arrived, but a few people came in right after. It has a quiet, cozy vibe, great for sitting down for a chat. There's also a small gift shop area inside with some fun items and even garlic ice cream. read more

I've stopped by a couple times when I was driving through Gilroy and both times have been solid with their drinks. I most recently got their iced tiramisu latte and it's exactly what you expect a tiramisu to taste like. It was incredibly delicious and it was not overly sweet, which was what I was kind of worried about. But it was just the right amount of sweetness and coffee. I can't wait to stop by again! Definitely makes my long drives more pleasant with a delicious coffee at hand. read more

This is my second time at Fifth Street Coffee Roasting Co, and it's just as great as I remembered. I first stopped by three months ago while visiting a client in Hollister from the Bay Area--and now it's officially a must-visit whenever I'm in town. The coffee is excellent, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the handmade pastries (crafted by the owner!) are absolutely delicious. A special shoutout to Dulce, who helped me both times. She's not only gorgeous and super friendly, but also incredibly patient and professional--even when the line is out the door. #1 coffee shop in Gilroy! They serve it quick, they're friendly, and their drinks are bomb. The owner prides herself on having unique delicious drinks that she crafts herself! The location is great, on the corner of 5th street and Monterey. It's an awesome place to come get some work done, you might even catch them running their coffee machine if you make it early enough! They spent almost a year on the trying different matcha before settling on this one and I gotta tell you, it was a great decision. I get upset if I have to go somewhere else for matcha because theirs is so good! read more

I stopped by here for a quick caffeine fix. The interior didn't feel as cozy as I would expect a coffee shop to be like, but the place still had adequate seating and tables. The employees here are friendly and answered my questions regarding their speciality coffees before I opted for a cardamom latte (with oat milk). My coffee came out fairly quick and it was super delicious. I love that Fifth St Coffee offers a good variety of specialty coffees but not so much that it's overwhelming. Needed a "pick-me-up," this morning and decided to stop by at this coffee shop. It is located in downtown Gilroy, with accessible parking. Now, the real reason why I decided to stop here is because I saw they had an Horchata latte. I went in and was immediately greeted by one of the barista's and got taken care of right there & then. I went ahead and ordered a medium iced Horchata latte, (which my total ended up being $6.00.) As I waited for my drink, I was able to sit down in their lounge area. This location is very open and includes a lot of seating as well. It didn't take long for my drink to be ready, approximately 2 minuets. And once my drink was ready, I was able to sprinkle on some cinnamon on top, and take my first sip. My initial thought was that the latte itself was strong. I personally didn't find the Horchata flavor in the latte itself, but overall it was a good iced latte. I would definitely go back, (perhaps not order the Horchata iced latte,) but try another drink. Could definitely say the coffee itself is way better than Starbucks! No doubt in that. read more

I went here twice and the most recent time was yesterday and both times my experience was very unpleasant. The barista lady with dirty brown hair is really unwelcoming to the point one might think she's racist against anyone that's not the same race as her. Both times when I tried to give my order there was so much impatience and annoyance in her demeanor that I almost walked out without my drink. Good espresso! I went there twice recently over the holiday weekend. The first time a gentleman helped me and made me an excellent Macchiato. The 2nd time a young lady served me the same, but it wasn't quite the right proportions. That being said we love this place and will absolutely be back! The atmosphere is always very nice.
