It was a hot summer afternoon and we all needed some boba to cool us down. We were in the area of Gilroy so Star Tea popped up. It's located near the outlets. There's plenty of parking. The spot wasn't packed at all. Right when you enter there was a fooze ball table that customers could play. They also have jenga too. Plenty of seating inside as well. What we ordered: -honeydew smoothie with boba -taro smoothie -cantaloupe smoothie with boba -honeydew black tea with boba -popcorn chicken I'm a big stickler on the taste and texture of boba balls. These are first weren't too firm (I'm more of the firm and sweet type of boba gal) i don't like them soggy and not sweet. If you let the bobas sit in the smoothie they do get firmer and I really liked that. All in all the total came out to $32 which isn't bad for 5 items. The drink size all came the same size which was like a "large" in my eyes. I would def come back again if I'm ever in the area. read more

Very aesthetic looking and has a fun foos ball table as you enter the shop. We were greeted as we walked in and both workers weee very nice. I asked for drink recommendations and was asked if I like coffee or tea and ended up ordering Vietnamese Egg Coffee x2 and Strawberry and Strawberry Banana smoothie for the kids. I've been coming here for a couple years now, In the picture I have posted we have a Thai Tea with coffee Jelly, Two Mango Smoothies with Homey boba and my go to is always the Chocolate Smoothie with extra boba, sometimes they don't always have the boba for the extra but that's okay since the drink itself makes up for it! I love that it's super rich in flavor and tastes amazing if you're trying to settle that sweet tooth! The location is very Low Key and never too packed as far as parking but somehow always filled with customers! They have a foosball table that my fiancé and I always love playing while we wait for our drinks! The establishment is always kept clean each time I visit and very comfortable seating and some modern decor! You shouldn't have any issues unless it's a big event. Seating: COVID-19 protocol so it seems like they put their furniture away. If not then inside seating for small groups/pairs. Personally I didn't expect to find good boba in Gilroy, but I'm not here often and maybe don't give the town enough credit! My Orange Kiwi Green Tea was perfect, well-flavored without being too sweet. They let you customize the sweetness of the drink and even at 25%, but our drinks were good. Our Oolong Milk Tea was also perfection. They have a couple new-ish games: Connect 4 and Jenga, and randomly also lots of jars of Unicorn Slime for kids to play with. read more

I ordered delivery items from here and was looking forward to the food since the food options looked really enticing. Unfortunately, maybe my expectations were too high. 1. Avocado smoothie 3.5/5 Decent smoothie with good avocado flavor but when I got to the bottom of the drink, it became an ice slush, which is indicative that it hadn't been blended enough. 2. Spicy korean beef noodles 3/5 If you're ordering delivery, they separately package the soup and the noodles, which is nice. However, the soup broth was SO spicy! It had a slight numbing taste if you enjoy that. The noodles itself are of the instant noodle variety so heads up on that if you're expecting something else. 3. Chicken curry 3.5/5 This item came in a bowl and was only half filled with the curry chicken. The curry has a strong coconut flavor and the chicken itself was super tender. It comes with a Vietnamese baguette to dip into the curry; the baguette itself was nice. 4. Popcorn chicken 3/5 The portion for the chicken was so tiny. It came in a mini version of a takeout box (definitely not the regular version.) The chicken tasted like it had some kind of crispy breading that was not the typical Taiwanese style popcorn chicken. The food was packaged nicely which I was glad to see. The food portions were so small though for the prices though. They label the food items as snacks which I guess makes sense, but the prices for them are similar to what a meal would cost. I keep coming back to Star Tea because their drinks are delicious! They know me by now from all the times I order in store and on DoorDash, lol. My go-to's are the black milk tea or thai tea when I want something milky (@ 100% sweetness) and their strawberry black tea or mango green tea when I want something more fruity & refreshing (@ 50-75% sweetness because the fruity drinks seem to be a little sweeter). I also just sampled their new lemongrass tea and wow, it was super good and refreshing! Their boba is ALWAYS soft and chewy -- the perfect texture. You can even do half and half of two different toppings and only pay the price of one topping -- normally boba shops make you pay for both toppings even if you don't want full scoops of each. Star Tea is so accommodating!! So many things keep me coming back but the main reasons are definitely their customer service & quality in drinks! Out of all the milk tea places in Gilroy, I find Star Tea to be the best overall! And let me tell you, I am a self proclaimed milk tea addict so you can trust my review, lol. read more
