We always try new tea places that have the grass jelly and had high hopes for this place. We got the piña colada smoothie with apple and strawberry jelly. Also a strawberry smoothie with strawberry jelly. It tasted as if it had Greek yogurt in it and neither of us liked the flavors so we put it in the fridge for later. After sitting in the fridge for a couple hours it separated and did not look appetizing so we just threw it away. I think will stick with EYEfiniTEA in Morgan Hill. read more

We came here at 3:45pm and there was nobody here. There was a lot of parking available. The menu had some food, smoothies, and drinks. We ordered the Jasmine Milk Tea ($4.75) with boba and Black Milk Tea ($4.75) with boba. The Jasmine Milk Tea tasted not bad and similar to other places; however, the Black Milk Tea tasted a little bit too sweet for Black Milk Tea when compared with other places. Was in the area and was in the mood for boba. I found this place on Yelp and was so excited because they had the cups where you could get 2 drinks in 1 cup so I had to come check it out. The milk tea tastes like it has a hint of chocolate. Also the coffee. They were both okay! I appreciated this weird hint of chocolate, and I was happy overall with the milk tea. The popcorn chicken is very sad though. Size wise and taste wise. They were closer to nuggets than the usual popcorn chicken from boba places. I have a mild shellfish allergy, nothing life threatening, and the popcorn chicken smelled and tasted "fishy," and I proceeded to have an uncomfortable feeling on my tongue and lips after eating one and a half. So I'm assuming there was some major cross contamination with the fried shrimp so thank god it wasn't worse. So heads up to anyone with a shellfish allergy-- don't order any of the food. read more

After an afternoon of outlet shopping, we were looking for a place to grab a drink. We ended up here. Located in a shopping mall next to the outlets, Star Tea was just what we needed. I ordered a Lychee smoothie and it was the right combination of sweetness and since it was warm it was quite drinkable. I was happy it was blended so it wasn't just a cup of ice. So sad Gilroy's one and only boba spot was probably the worst I've ever had!!! (New management, replaced Tapioca Express). Matcha milk tea: weirdest tasting thing ever, nothing like matcha. It had a hint of familiarity/nuttiness that I couldn't place but did not like! Whenever we head to the bay area we stop here to grab a drink because they are absolutely delicious. We are usually kindly greeted and have never had bad customer service until today. I took my nephews there today and the gentleman with the blonde hair must've been having a bad day or something because he was rude. He didn't greet us, seemed irritated that we didn't know exactly what we wanted upon entry (mind you nobody else was in line), and rolled his eyes at me when I asked him to repeat himself because I couldn't hear what he had asked. I don't know if he was in a hurry to get back to his Zoom call that he had going on in the background or what but he should work on his customer service skills a bit. I dont like to give 1 star reviews so hear me out. I live in San Jose where I can literally walk down the street to get my milk tea fix. Of course Gilroy doesn't have that many mill tea options so when this one opened I was kinda excited to try it. This is located next to to and king egg roll by the outlets and I really wish it was a lot better so I could come down to Gilroy to shop and enjoy my milk tea more often. We walked in and were greeted by the friendly staff, they have all the typical mill tea selections from jasmine to earl grey and regular flavors such as passion fruit and lychee. Toppings range from crystal boba to grass jelly and regular boba. No red beans or egg pudding. We ordered and sat to wait for our drinks. When they came out I immediately noticed that my jasmine milk tea was an odd color. The taste was definitely off.. And I can't put my hands on it but it wasn't pleasant. The avocado smoothie.. Was even more off putting. It had a weird play dough smell. I will definitely not be back unless the reviews change. read more

Been eyeing this for a while, since there aren't many bubble tea places in Gilroy. Parking is abundant, and the place is very clean and tidy. Definitely a nice chill spot. However, the compliments stop there. I ordered a Blueberry Icy, and it reminds me of basically kool-aid poured over ice..... it's so dark that it stains your lips and teeth. Just gave me an overall very cheap taste. May come back for their milk tea, but DEFINITELY do not recommend the slushees. read more

The staff was so kind and waited while we changed our order like 3 times! We got the split cup with thai tea and mango green tea at 50% sugar. The 50% sugar was perfect for the mango green tea - sweet with a hint of tang. Great for a hot day (even though it's winter right now). The thai tea was a tad bitter, which probably means the tea has been cooked a little too long, but still yummy! I love Star Tea. The location isn't ideal, which is probably good for me, otherwise I'd come way more often. Haha. I haven't ventured out much when it comes to the menu, because I just love my honeydew smoothie so much. The fact that it's made with fresh fruit is another reason why I stick to that drink. This place used to be Tapioca Express,which was okay up until this past year. It used to be dirty and empty inside,but now it looks beautiful and plays good music,there's even a TV where the music videos are displayed. The tables are elegantly displayed, with some holding flowers like Orchids,and instead of having regular menus on the wall they have TVs that show which flavors/items are available. The two owners,a man and a woman,are extremely friendly and look happy working there (unlike the workers at Tapioca Express who looked bored or annoyed),and personally go to hand you your drinks along with a smile and good wishes for the rest of your day. I got a Chai Milk Tea with Tapioca pearls and let me tell you,it was the best milk tea I'd ever had. If you're looking for good milk tea,this is your spot. Its friendly and inviting with genuine customer service. Will be back again! Edit: Came in again today and ordered my Chai Milk Tea along with some fries,super yummy! This review is long overdue! My sister and I were visiting family in the area so we thought we would pick up some boba. This was the only place open so we decided to give it a shot. We ordered about 6-7 drinks, and while we were leaving the plastic bag containing all our drinks broke. We ended up spilling 1 drink, and the worker at the counter was so nice about it. We were so embarrassed because there was quite a bit of people in the store and we hate to be an inconvenience! The worker offered to make us a new drink, but after he was done, I realized that I made a mistake of telling him which drink we needed a replacement for. He offered to make another one for us, even after we told him not to worry about it. He reassured us that it was no problem at all and that it would take just a few minutes. He even offered to double-bag our drinks so it wouldn't happen again. We were totally fine with just the one drink that he remade but the fact that he went out of his way to remake us the actual drink that we spilled was so nice. If I could recommend 10 stars I would!!! I am quite spoiled with boba since I live in San Jose and have super high expectations but the drinks here were so good and refreshing! Have tried fried tofu in other places and this one was lacking. The order was smaller in portion compared to other places and extra fried as you might see in the picture. It probably soaked up a little too much oil, too. Wouldn't buy fried tofu from here again. On the other hand, I liked the drink and the tapioca pearls were cooked well. All the boys staff here don't care customers. I came in to order drink. They saw me walked in and decided to ignore me for some reasons. But, at the end, when you pay, they want to know how much you tip them. How funny! The drinks here are OK, too sweet and too much artificial flavor, in my opinion. The boys serve customers based on their mood. Last time, I came in to order a honey green tea. The boy glanced at me and told me they're out of honey green tea. I weren't sure if the store was out of honey green tea or the boy just had a bad day and tried to kick the customers out. Not many customers here, they're pretty slow. I sometimes feel thirsty and want to purchase a drink from them, but seeing those boys with bad customers service, it drives me away. I ask for ice water at the noodle restaurant nearby instead. read more
