It is no surprise that cities that experiences high temperatures such as Gilroy would have a wide selection of refreshing, cold beverages and cold desserts sold at practically every corner. What makes Happy Lemon stand out among the rest? Two words: Their service. Admittedly, I was initially drawn here by their eye-catching, colorful exterior/storefront. The adorable, kawaii-style, bright yellow-haired company mascot/icon caught my eye as I was looking around for an ice cold refreshing beverage to quench my thirst after a long afternoon of shopping with two teenagers. I was pleasantly surprised that their service matched their sweet marketing. As soon as it was my turn to the counter to place my order, I was a bit overwhelmed by the choices and still had not made my decision on what to order. Luckily there was a nice, young lady at the counter named Kaylah who patiently guided me through my first purchase. After she ran down how the order process worked and which items were their most popular, I made my decision and opted for the passion fruit green tea beverage with fresh lychee fruit. For those who do not know, lychee is a small rounded fruit with sweet white scented flesh, a large central stone, and a thin rough skin. It reminds me of a sweeter, juicier, and softer pear. It's important to note that you can customize your beverage according to your preference. For example, the amount of sweetness is customizable and you can opt out on ingredients of the beverage of your choice. I have to say that in the end I was pleasantly surprised by my beverage. My stepdaughter who is on the picky side liked her beverage as well. I will definitely return but next time I will try their boba/bubble tea which I have heard from other reviews contain among the freshest boba pearls (small marbles of tapioca) in the area. There is nothing I hate more than old, tough boba pearls that require effort to chew. I mean they can seriously pose a choking hazard if not chewed properly! Please note that Boba/bubble tea is not for everyone. If you are a texture eater you won't like the feeling of the tapioca marbles sliding around in your mouth which can be likened to having gummy candy in your beverage. If you come here with an open mind you will definitely be able to try something different from your typical warm weather beverages. But how boring soda and any other cold beverage can be when you can try something different. In conclusion, if you are looking for refreshing beverage on a hot day, served to you with a smile, and genuine friendliness and helpfulness, then this is the place for you. Refreshing beverages and equally refreshing good service. What more could you want! read more

Happy Lemon is always consistent and makes their drinks soooo well! The workers here are so friendly and polite. My favorite drink is the black tea salted cheese (50% sweet). I personally don't like my drinks too sweet and I like to be able to taste the tea. Tried the mango matcha and the matcha with tiramisu salted cheese. The mango matcha is smoothie like in texture and was really good! Ask to add boba if you want it doesn't come with it. It is more mango than anything, would have liked more matcha flavor but was definitely good. The match with tiramisu salted cheese was also good, also asked for boba as well. We love Happy Lemon and so excited that there's one at the outlets! (It's right next to Forever 21) We came during their grand opening so they were having their Bogo event, which was a great plus! All the employees were nice and helpful, they also were passing out samples of their black tea with salted cream- which my husband loved... his go to drink at Happy lemon is their Matcha green tea with Salted cream so I was surprised when he said he liked it. There's a lot of options so if you don't like teas there are some non tea options which was great because I didn't want to give the kiddos tea. Literslly just ordered an oreo milk tea and asked for sub soy milk. This man came out and was very nice and told us that the stuff needed to make the drink is pre-mixed every day, and the soy milk wont taste as good. This man has a lot of hospitality, and told us that if we didn't like it, he would make a new one. Also, I hate the boba bubble things, but this place has very good tasting boba bubbles. 10/10, best boba and tea I've had. Very good customer service, this man KNOWS how to make drinks. I bought 6 drinks and had multiple paid for salted cheese on the side but they refused to give me more than one drink holder that only holds 4 drinks. I asked why I couldn't have one more drink holder to go but they said they cost money and would have to charge me for a to go cardboard drink holder. I paid for 6 drinks already but paying for my drinks wasn't enough to get enough drink holders. This is a business that sells drinks but refuse to give out drink holders without charging. I had a baby in a stroller, 6 drinks, plus sides and the workers were very rude. I had to say multiple times how am I supposed to carry these drinks out without enough carriers but that didn't matter, they made a big deal about me asking for a second carrier and instead put my drink in a bag without a carrier and didnt even put the drink stoppers on to stop it from spilling. I tip the workers every time I go but I guess the few cents that they pay for the drink carriers is just to much that it comes before customer satisfaction. Very disappointed! read more

I'm putting this score for review of the interaction I had this afternoon with the young lady server VP. It was my first visit to this place as a good friend highly recommend their boba tea. I ordered my tea and was excitedly waiting for my friend to get her order finished, I tried sipping my drink and of course I have to put my N95 mask down, duh! There were only 3 of us in the store and I was actually more than 6 ft away from the counter. VP told me that I have to keep my mask on while in the store. I responded by saying I was simply tasting my tea but she kept on budging this agenda so I stepped out of the restaurant. And then I read their sign on the door that says "mask is required except eating or drinking"! I went back in & point it out to her. But she just kept on her uneducated stance. I just left because there no point of arguing with DUMB people. And thus made this bad review for that matter. read more

I loved happy lemon ever since I found out about it. But I can not believe I waited an hour for a small drink. This location has a broken heater and people were breathing recycled breath. It was so moisty it felt like I was in a jacuzzi with 20+ people. I kid you not. After an eternal wait, the worker greeted me with "we don't have anymore boba." How are you going to tell me that you're a boba shop without boba? So I had to wait 10 more minutes just to add a crystal boba.
