We were figuring out where to eat for lunch and ended up at this Chinese restaurant that also serves dim sum! We always passed by it when we're in the area but never did stop by to try until today. The food was good. Our only con is that it takes a bit of time for the dim sum carts to come around especially since it was busy and lunch hour. We were always left waiting for more. Some items weren't available in the carts and we would have to order them instead which took even longer. When this place gets busy it can get pretty tight inside with the tables and chairs being a little too close to each other. Would we come back? Only if we're able to find parking because it can be a little rough finding a parking spot there.

I think Happy Day's has decent dimsum! it is definitely not bad at all! However I would say it is just okay. overall, I believe that the pricing is overpriced for dimsum. The flavor is average, not too much and not little, the standard dimsum you can expect. They give you hot sauce and vinegar in small containers when you get takeout. The staff were ok and took a decent time for the food to be ready. The restaurant atmosphere was empty at the time.

It's been awhile since I had dim sum and my family wanted to have our monthly dinner at this location. They do have good customer service even though it felt at one point we were being rushed. The wait for the food isn't long and when your order comes in, it seems like everything comes all at once. We barely had room on the turnstile (lazy susan) on our table. We ended up having to put some other dishes on an empty table. The portions are plenty. We had more than enough leftovers to pack for each family. They did great accommodating a party of 20. Thank you Happy Days.

Food was flavorful, service fast but the meats were a bit chewy and portions left some to be to desired

Was in the area , so wanted to go to Magoo's Pizza in Kaimuki, arrived about 11:30 disappointed to see them closed & opening @2 pm. Down the aisle way I saw Happy Days Seafood Restaurant. We saw as we entered they were doing Dim Sum Lunch. Got a table & shortly after the carts arrived. Different DimSum on each cart , you choose what you want & they brown & warm it up before serving it . Oh so good & different variety for everyone A old school popular Seafood Chinese Restaurant, good to see the eatery thriving! All our DimSum was delicious & the portions are usually 3 items per serving, so we had some to take home.Glad we ended up here!

Happy Days our Go To restaurant on the east side of Oahu. Genuinely authentic Cantonese cuisine prepared with the freshest ingredients. Locally owned and operated. They do an awesome job taking care of their customers. The chefs prepare authentic Cantonese cuisine with great attention to detail. Tonight we had a sampling of the dishes we ordered for our upcoming party. Peking Duck with Steamed Buns, Garlic String Beans with Pork, Salt and Pepper Pork Chops, and Beef Chow Fun. . Everything was delicious.

Good lunch and dinner specials. Best dim sum in the area. Prices are average for the area. Street and paid parking lot nearby.

First lunch with the family outside the house! After a wet morning doing New Year's grave visits we met my aunty and cousin for lunch. Mom had a hankering for dim sum and this is one of our go-to places. So little tip, if you go later (1:00-ish), its not as busy... but you will risk that some items are sold out. Also, ask them to cut stuff in half so you can try more things! We got there around 1:30 or so and got seated pretty quickly. within 2 seconds of sitting down a cart comes by (with all the sweet stuff). We got the taro ball and the last order of egg custard tarts. We also got jin dui with an inside and with pork inside. Cause desserts are always first. Then we got a shrimp and spinach, beef bean curd, charsiu bao, shu mai and mochi rice (always a favorite). They kept coming around with the carts but by then we had so much food. we had also ordered beef chow fun and cake noodle with chicken and choy sum.One lady kept trying to give us more items but we just wanted water and tea refills. I really appreciate the frequency of their visits but then I realized it was cause lunch hour was finishing up. I watched the staff roll the carts around the restaurant hitting up all the tables that came in after us until there was just a handful of people. Thank goodness it wasn't busy cause they let us sit and talk and finish eating until we couldn't move! Surprisingly for what we got our bill with tax was just abut $100. For 5 people that was pretty good! Happy Days hasn't failed us yet and I know it will still be one of my family's go-to dim sum places this year!

We wanted dim sum and were in the area so we decided to try here. It was okay. I don't think we will be back.

Happy Days is a pillar of the community and the best dim sum you'll find in Honolulu outside of Chinatown. This is my family's go-to spot, and while it's certainly not a 5-star dining experience, it's a solid restaurant that I've been frequenting for 20 years and will continue to come back. Some dim sum favorites are the meat gok, siu mai, stuffed eggplant, and look fun. Can't go wrong with the dim sum as long as you go late morning through lunch time. Later in the afternoon onward the selection dwindles and the food may be older, but that's to be expected. My family's regular menu favorites include the cake noodles and salt and pepper pork chops. Standard local Chinese restaurant staples done well that don't disappoint. Sometimes we'll even order a party size tray of the cake noodles and eat it for a few days straight. There's a large paid parking lot in the shopping center and plenty of metered street parking around the area. However, expect both the parking lot and the restaurant itself to be packed during peak times like weekend lunchtime and especially on holidays. The restaurant itself is a bit grungy and no frills, but that's just the way I like it. I'm not here for a fine dining experience or hipstery/Instagram-worthy decor. The workers can be a bit a bit brusque and direct, but always very friendly and efficient. Again, just the way I'd want a good Chinese restaurant to be. All in all, a solid restaurant that I will continue to patronize for years to come.

Happy Days has been another favorite of my family's for years. One of the staff there is from the same village my family immigrated from generations ago! My great uncle is friends with him, and asks the kitchen staff to make some home style classics that you can't find on the menu, and they always do a great job with those. It truly tastes like a home-cooked meal My favorites from the menu, though, are the meat gok (it's like savory jin dui - with fried mochi outside and a filling of pork, water chestnut, mushroom, etc), the fried look fun rolls (esp with char siu! It's the perfect bouncy texture, with a lightly crisp/browned outside), the steamed fu pei guen (bean curd wrapped around a savory filling), the West lake soup, roast duck... so many good ones. If you go for dim sum, you'll get the classic experience of a server standing by your table repeatedly offering you every item in their cart. Love that!

October 7, 2025 we came here for dinner around 7:30pm. Service was fast and friendly. I think we ordered too much food for 2 people. The food came out hot and fast. It looked good and tasted good. Ambiance is casual and comfortable. We will be back again. Support local businesses.

Fiyah. Good food. Fried wu gok (taro ball with meat) is my absolute fav. Their ginger chicken is so yum!

    Are they Wheelchair accessible?

I believe both entrance areas to the restaurant is wheelchair accessible, and I believe there is a ramp access to get on the sidewalk leading into the restaurant. There are NO stairs needed to get into the restaurant.

    The email doesn't work?

Better call them than email. Someone should answer

BYOB? Do they have a cork fee?

What time do the dim sum carts come out for service? What time do they stop the cart service?

A few carts usually start 30 mins after they open and all at an hour. They stop as they sell out or when the busy lunch time is over, usually around 2pm

Do they use MSG in their dishes? I have a friend who is allergic

We have problems with MSG so we usually request no MSG when we order. Things that are already made, like dim sum, probably can't be changed. I think a lot of people try to avoid MSG, so I don't think it's unreasonable to request no additional MSG.…

    What are dim sum hours?

The restaurant opens at 8:00 am and you can pickup or order dim sum starting from 8:30 am. You get a small discount if you pay by cash - 5% for the take out only.…

What type of jin dui do they serve?

Black bean and sometimes coconut also

The first thing I saw when I walked in was the owner making dumplings by hand. That immediately gave me the feeling I was in the right place. Growing up I watched my own Mom make our version of dumplings, so seeing that kind of care and craftsmanship felt familiar. The owner was warm and very welcoming, and as each dish was completed she brought it out fresh from the kitchen, which gave me a chance to taste the food while it was still steaming. It was hot, but I could not stop myself from sampling it :) Everything I ordered was delicious and clearly made fresh. I'll be honest though, watching the dumplings being prepared right in front of me was a real highlight. I'm sure that some of you out there can relate to this. I also had the chance to meet owner's mother and another gentleman who I believe may have been family, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is small, but it did not feel rushed. We had a good time talking story while the food was being prepared. It was a challenge for me to drive home with all that food in the back of my car. I was tempted to pull over and just indulge, but I remembered that I had to share it lol My summary? Good food, genuine hospitality, and a great first impression. I will definitely be back.

As longtime owners they have regulars who have their own favorites but even if you are a newcomer you will be treated cordially. I've seen solo diners come in and order won ton noodle soups and beef dishes. I've tried them but found they aren't nearly as good as several other places in Chinatown. The minute chicken is nicely charred and flavorful with a little gravy. Their cake noodle is one of the best in town. Combine them and you have their signature dish. If you enjoy cake noodles then almost other dish w the cake noodles will probably satisfy. Better late than never, but come too late and missed out on the good stuff?…read more Honolulu Seafood Restaurant is a sister restaurant to Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant. Located in Downtown in the same space where Yong Sing, Mandalay, and the short-lived Bourbon Street used to be. Inside feels and looks essentially the same as the prior restaurants. Huge, open, two levels. Would you believe there was once a time where the second floor was an option to sit because it was just that busy? Hours is basically 10am everyday till 3pm, then 5-930pm. Seems like the hours are geared towards Downtown workers. Where to park? 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, park in the Ali'i Place Parking garage. Entrance is right past the restaurant. Only 75 cents per half hour and restaurant validates one dollar. After 5pm on weekdays, and 8-1am on weekends, park at Bishop Square Parking. Entrance is across from the restaurant, entrance from the left lane of Alakea. Cost is $1.50 with validation. The regular menu is exactly the same as Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant. However, the dim sum is not the case. It's much, much less. There's only 16 total, and 7 more on weekends only. It's essentially the bare basics (but no beef ball!). All the dim sum looks exactly the same as Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant, but everything was on the bland side and just felt like it was missing something. Steamed Spareribs was one note and meat was not as tender. Beef Look Funn was good. The look funn had perfect thinness and texture. If have this dish, how come cannot have steamed beef balls? Chicken Feet was good. Soft, tasty, and meaty. But just ate and felt one note. Pan Fried Shrimp and Chives Dumplings was pretty good. Pan fried very well. Generous amount of filling. Just on the bland side. Chicken Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf was pretty good! Soft, moist mochi rice with a good amount of tasty filling. The Bean Curd Roll with Pork was probably the most flavorful dim sum of the meal. Jam-packed with tasty and flavorful filling. Overall, the dim sum was decent and almost similar to Kapiolani Seafood, but it was a touch on the bland side and a slight step below. Service was good. Friendly and attentive. Food came out pretty quick. Inside was cool, spacious, and comfortable. I want to come back on my lunch break! I don't mind dim sum'ing solo! Hopefully there'll be more dim sum choices. I remember seeing on social media they had some unique items only at this location. But I guess I'm too late! **I heard some news, maybe rumors, but the Kapiolani Seafood location might be forced to move due to that and the next lot being torn down for..... you guessed it, more condos! It might have an effect on the Honolulu location. We'll see.
