Combo A
Maile K.

Rediscovered On On Chinese Restaurant after 8 years. On On was one of my dad's favorite restaurants. Haven't been back since he passed. Located on Kapahulu at Charles St.. Private parking lot with two designated stalls for the restaurant. The mauka (North) bound traffic on Kapahulu Ave. can be quite busy, but there is a traffic signal at the entrance to Safeway plaza, just a half a block makai (South). This allows for patrons to safely turn into the On On parking lot. Mind you, there is an entrance on Charles St., however, it is not open all the time. Best to stick to the one on Kapahulu. If you prefer, head makai (South) on 6th Ave. Turn on Olu St. and make a right on Kapahulu. The parking lot entrance is just a few feet away. The Gov't shutdown has a lot of people tightening up the purse strings and it was 11am, so it's not surprising to see the restaurant empty of diners. There were takeout orders waiting to be picked up though. That's a good sign. The dining room is spotless. Everything is so clean and tidy. Very inviting. Onto the food. I ordered the combo A, (I posted a pic of it.) from a few weeks ago. The lemon chicken was crispy and the lemon sauce was nice and tangy. The beef in the beef broccoli was super tender and the broccoli was cooked but still had a little snap to the stem. Wonderful. The shrimp canton, ok, now we all know that deep fried items tend to get soft as they sit, especially in a sauce, but this one remained crunchy throughout the meal, which got started about 45 minutes after picking it up. So good! The fried rice was fabulously tasty. I like my fried rice a little crispy burnt and the kitchen staff did a great job. No, I didn't special request it that way. Second time back, I had to get the fried rice as it was so memorable I needed to have it again....soon! It was sublime!I also ordered the mabo tofu for mom. Of course I need to taste it. I ordered it medium spicy, but it really wasn't. All good though. It was very nice. MK has stiff competition now for mom's Sunday lunches. I am going back again this Sunday. What to order next?!? Look for more photos to see what I ordered!

Since we were in the area picked up A couple of plate lunches. Combo B for me and combo A for my wife. Easily picked up our take out order. My wife and I thought that the lunches were good but nothing in our lunches stood out Enjoy

Cute little spot next to Ululani's shave ice. Small, free parking lot. Friendly service and good Cantonese (?) food menu. We tried the oxtail soup, chicken with salty fish fried rice, and fish filet with ginger/scallion sauce. The fish was delicious but portion a little on the small side. Fried rice was good but needed more salty fish. Oxtail soup very flavorful and delicious. Also ordered a side of broccoli with garlic sauce that was tasty. Only giving 4 stars bc some prices seemed high for smaller portions. Would go back and try other dishes.

8-16-25. Haven't been here in awhile and since we were in kapahulu safeway area my husband said we go and pick up lunch at on on Chinese. Called it in a withing a few minutes was ready. Came home and looked at the plate it was plentiful for me and my husband. The fried rice to me was good the lemon chicken was thin and was missing something maybe the lemon sauce drizzle. The shrimp canton was good liked the flavor and as well as the beef broccoli. My husband said it was okay for him.

Today I have tried the bittermelon plate and it was great. A healthy food at a chinese restaurant. The workers had a strong accent as the english was a second language. Nevertheless, once I got to talking with them a little I have found the workers to be very helpful and friendly.

Nice small family run Chinese place. The minute chicken cake noodle was excellent with tasty bites of lightly crisp chicken and thick cakes of noodles that are satisfyingly crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. We like it so much we got a double order. We also enjoyed the honey walnut shrimp and capital spare ribs.

Located in a strip mall right off of Kapahulu with lots of free parking. Food is ALWAYS on on point delicious. Been coming here for over 20 years. Can't believe it took me this long to write a review. Although a smaller sized restaurant, don't let that fool you. It's clean and service is excellent. Some of our favorites include: Walnut Shrimp, Salt Pepper Pork, Minute Chicken Cake Noodles, and Duck. During our dinner here tonight, their take out orders kept coming in non stop and the restaurant was packed! That should say something. Pro Tip: If there's a football/basketball game playing, it will probably be on the big screen tv.

Pork hash with salty fish

I was pleasantly surprised when the family decided to depart from their same ol' go to Chinese restaurants for a quick dinner. This long time Kapahulu restaurant serves good down home Cantonese food. Everything was delicious and each dish had its own distinct flavor. Loved the lamb casserole, sweet clams with black bean sauce, stuffed eggplant, and especially the gailan with fried flounder. It was dark green and more tender than usual. The pork hash was served with good quality salty hamnee and seafood casserole was also good. It was amusing when the owner/ cook came to clear our empty dishes at the end and complimented us on knowing how to order good food. 5 stars for food , 3.5 for Service which was not so friendly when we arrived but warmed up later on so rounded to 4.

Today I was encouraged to do a review for #ThankyouThursday. So many business to be thankful for and I decided to do one on a long time neighborhood Chinese restaurant that I've only discovered this year. I've passed by here many of times but only have been to the other On On Chinese restaurant many years ago on McCully which was no longer in business. We had a gathering here earlier this year so I was able to try many of dishes! I was impressed how good the food was here and I've missed out all these years. We have tried other restaurants, but you can tell how talented the cook(s) were here. Of course some dishes maybe better than others and by preference you would like some over others. Pretty much everything tasted good with some old school dishes most restaurant might not make anymore. With all the Chinese restaurants closing recently, I would continue to support here. It's so hard to stay in business and get help and we need to support the small and local businesses. I always enjoyed the Kau yuk with taro, steamed pork hash with salty duck egg, and the orange peel chicken was what I really like. It was not too sweet and it was like orange peel mui on your chicken lol. I've tried their Sweet and sour cabbage with squid, deep fried squid and salt & pepper chicken wings. So many variety of dishes! They have a big open parking lot with one or two other businesses opened on the strip mall! It's next to Leonard's Bakery but no bakery parking here. Workers were helpful and accommodating and there's always room for dine in! Thanks On On for your providing us with yummy Chinese food! Thanks for reading my review!=)

Dinner plate and mixed plate
Kayla T.

Called in my order and they let me know 20 minutes. So 20 min later my food was ready to go! I ordered the dinner combo plate and the mixed plate A and it was a hit. Everything was tasty and good. I would say portions are small compared to your normal Chinese take out standards. I wouldn't say anything was spectacular but everything in general was good. There are about 8 dine in tables if you choose too, on a weekday when I went there were about 2 parties eating for dinner.

All I can say about eating at the - "Fun Station" is that it's more fun when eating with a friend,…read more& getting a 20% discount.........well, that's just an extra bonus! So the thing about coming to Fun Station is the "suspended flying noodle thingy" which I didn't go for, but if you like Instagramable stuffs, then I supposed you would probably go for that flying-noodle dish. As for me, I mainly came to try their Minute Chicken Cake Noodles, and as a bonus......... I actually got a 20% discount thanks to my friend - Jennifer C. who let a Bruddah know about da DEALAGES in da Sunday food section newspaper, as they had a coupon! The Sunday morning when I came with my friend, I can clearly see that this restaurant was thriving, as every table in the restaurant was taken. Fun Station specializes in noodles, but if you're not into that, they do serve other items like - soups, vegetable dishes, rice plates, & porridge (jook). Upon looking over the menu, we ordered the following items - 1. Frrrrrrried Chicken Wings ($9.95) for an appetizer 2. Minute Chicken Cake Noodles ($17.95 - minus da 20% coupon DEALAGES) 3. Beef Brisket Tendon & Won Ton in soup ($18.95) What can I say about da grub??? Da chicken wings came out hot & crispy. Although they featured only "flats" vs. drums (I like drums), I must say da wings was nicely executed. As for the Minute Chicken Cake Noodles.........nicely plated on a fancy smanshy panda plate. The cake noodles weren't drowning in gravy, so the noodles stayed crispy on the dish. I really liked how they did this dish, and would easily come back here to eat it again. My friend had the Beef Brisket Tendon & Won Ton soup. The dish looked good, and there weren't any complaints, so I take it that it was pretty ono! Overall, a very satisfying meal and the service here was on point, as the staff was friendly & very efficient. Easy 5 stars for the Minute Chicken Cake Noodles! Chance 'em!

That was the first thing we ordered and the waiter asked if we've had it before so they could make sure that they presented it as the picture show it. We also ordered the chicken wings, salt and pepper pork chops, garlic, bok choy, and the salted fish and chicken fried rice. Everything was so delicious. Food was promptly delivered, and staff was very friendly. It's also BYOB and there's a Foodland in the parking lot so that was a plus as we went to the store to get some alcohol. Restaurant is very casual with about 10 to 12 tables. They were pretty busy when we arrived, but they moved with the quickness to make sure everyone got their food timely. I love the presentation of the flying noodle, although I was in a fan of the dish itself as it had a little sweetness, which I wasn't a fan of. It was just OK to me. However, everything else we ate was tasty and decently priced.

There's sharpie graffiti everywhere, soju bottles lined up the wall and a sticker wall filled with so many stickers, you have no idea where to look. I could tell we're in for a good meal. We ordered a spicy squid with kimbab, chive jeon, and an extra bowl of rice to share. The spicy squid was not spicy, but had a smokey depth. I drenched the kimbab in that sauce and it was easily the best thing I tried here. The chive jeon was extra crispy and packed with veggies. We easily agreed that we need to come back with a few more people, so we can either share the army stew or joxxam dish. Thanks for reading my reviews! Let me know what I should try next!

The tables and benches are very basic and not cushioned, which makes for quick customer turnover. We hardly waited 2 minutes before they called us; even though there was a queue the entire time we were there it seems they go really quickly. Focus is on noodles (recommended) or rice dishes. We had beef chow fun (thick noodles) and a rice-noodle soup with pork and picked cabbage. Both dishes were very good. The chow fun was smoky, as if cooked on high heat, and the rice noodles were nicely spiced. The rice noodles came in a delicious broth.
