Good sumai is hard to find in the area, and I have found it. I was skeptical this being near a strip mall but I remind myself that the teriyaki place across the lot was always great so maybe, I should give it a try. Was not disappointed. The citrus salmon is refreshing and tender on the inside, unlike much of the over cooked citrus based seafood found around. The mango salad has a bit of hicama or something like it to give it a good crisp. The ribs, while not your Southern style, is nicely seasoned in it's unique way. The sumai is fresh, and you can feel it in it's texture before you taste the juiciness. The shrimp inside is a chunk, not some minced pieces that merely gives you a suggestion. This here let's you know you are eating shrimp and pork. the flyfish/smelt eggs on top is still vibrant in color and hasn't turned milky white, letting you know it just came off the steamer. This alone is better than most of the dim sum places in Portland. While not a wholly dim sum restaurant, they do have a pretty good menu. I'll be going back to try some of the other items. I'm really bummed that I didn't take any pictures, but I chose not to since I got the food to go and I worried it wouldn't be representative of what you get if you eat there. This restaurant is tucked into the little strip mall area by the walmart. I had never been before and so I stopped and because I saw the sign and figured something healthy and steamed sounded pretty yummy. The interior looks nice with an open style counter in kitchen setup, and some nice decor. I ordered some of the shumai as well as some dumplings to go. The service was quick, but not so quick that it felt like it was all precooked. When I got it home they were VERY fresh and hot, and very tasty. My husband and I used to live in SF, and had dim sum and a regular basis, but since moving here it has been few and far between, as it seems to be very limited in in options. I had never had dim sum served like this before. It is more of a quick service style where you go up and order and then they bring the food out to you. They had a rather decent size vegan option, but then when we started ordering off it, we were told they were out of many items. I was wearing a mask, but even through my mask the man must of seen my look of disappoitment, as he came back, and said if we were patient, he could make two of the items. My only wish, is if they could find a more enviromentally friendly way to serve food for those dining in, as we ordered 5 things, that were all served in 5 seperate plastic containers. read more

Woohoo! Friendly, quick service, and most importantly, DELICIOUS food! I was with a group of 4 people so we tried a variety and boy were we pleased. Chicken wings don't get crispier than these and pork buns don't get much tastier! Everything exceeded expectations, even the soup dumplings. I honestly went into this lunch not expecting much given the mixed reviews, and was so happy with the full experience. The person who took our order and brought out the food was very friendly and let us take our time when we were figuring out what to order at the counter. If I could give 0 stars, I would. When we first got there, we were the only ones in the restaurant. We waited over an hour for 4 items. After 45 mins of waiting, we asked if the order was almost ready, and the girl who took our order said they were just waiting on 2 more items and it would be ready in 10 mins. Another 20 mins go by and we go up to the counter again, only to find out the little white girl at the register never even printed our order out, even though we paid in full, and our food wasn't even being made the whole hour we were waiting!!! We are not even sure why she told us that the order was only waiting for 2 more items if our order was never printed out and was never even being made... This was our first time here, and will definitely be the last. We never got our food and asked for a refund and the only thing that girl said was "my bad" and acted like it wasn't a big deal that we had been waiting over an hour and that none of the items were even being made.... She should not even be working in customer service if she doesn't know how to deal with customers. She's going to be the Hap reason loses business and customers. What kind of apology is that? "My bad"... So ridiculous. And so embarrassing for the restaurant. Also, the management could have done something to fix the issue, like either comp the meal or give a gift card for us to come back. I had to work through dinner, so had Hap delivered. I have eaten here several times, and thought I knew what to expect. What I did not expect was the food to be so bad. I had the lemongrass chicken vermicelli bowl. The chicken was so dried out, it looked like it had been left out all night, the noodles were tasteless, and the veggies were the only bright spot in the bowl. I also got the salad rolls with pork and shrimp. The wrappers were strangely thick and hard. Guessing they had been made a day before as well. I had also ordered egg rolls. Aggressively mediocre food but they are open until 12am midnight during the week and stay open until 2am on the weekends. So roll the dice but probably skip the stuff I said is gross. Hahah Pork buns - 3/5 stars - mostly good but was too sweet & tasted like sweet potatoes (which I hate) Wonton soup - 1/5 stars - Broth was way too sweet and seriously tasted like sugar water. Broth was seriously offensive to all wonton soups out there. Wontons themselves were also too sweet but were alright. Shrimp salad roll - 4/5 stars - fresh & tasted a lot better than it looked. The food was really bad. My grandson got orange chicken and the chicken was tough and chewy; way overcooked. The "orange" sauce tasted like vinegar, not a hint of orange! I just got an appetizer, which on the menu looked really good, but it was awful! It was called Char Sui Pork Cream Cheese Crostini. Sounds good, right? Oh so wrong. It was burned; I didn't see any cream cheese and the "pork" was more like tomato paste. I couldn't have imagined anything that looked so good on a menu to be so completely different in reality. I don't have money to blow. The total bill, with drinks and tip was almost $45!!!!! Robbery! If my grandson had not been with me I would have demanded my money back; it was that bad. WOW great food and service ! Portions are generous and everything tasted extremely fresh, clean, and flavorful. I am Vietnamese and lived the last 12 years in SoCal and am always eager to find good Asian food in the 360. This place is unique as it offers a variety of Vietnamese small dishes but also very good dim sum. Also cool to see their items are air fried and not deep fried which is the first time I've seen this offered in the Vancouver area. Service is excellent. Extremely friendly and attentive. We dined with two little girls and they were very mindful of what may be too spicy, cautious of what may be too hot in temp and should be cooked for a bit before the kids should try, and offered recs/substitutions what the girls may like. What we ordered: -Shu Mai - WOW these were meaty! Very tasty, beautiful little shrimp and pork dumplings. These were a favorite of the table definitely try these. I think most people would enjoy these especially if you're new (or old) to dimsum. - Banh Bot Loc (steamed pork / shrimp tapioca dumplings in banana leaf). This may be a little more "advanced" as the texture is a little different but if you like chew mochi like texture you may really enjoy these (personally one of my favorite textures). This is one of my all time favorite dishes and tough to find. They serve hefty sized tapioca dumplings here with a side of nuoc cham. Their dumplings had pieces of woodear mushroom and some other veggies - I've never had it this way before but pretty tasty and enjoyable. The steamed banana leaf is very fragrant and is one of my favorite pieces of this dish. - Wonton Soup with egg noodles and BBQ pork. This was the best dish of the night. The pork was not too sweet, broth was rich, light, flavorful not greasy. Noodles were long, springy and chewy and wontons were very flavorful and large. This dish HIT! We also tried the steamed buns w/ half bbq pork half crispy pork. My boyfriend loves Baos/buns, he really enjoyed this. Personally I don't typically order these when we go out I think they're too filling and I enjoy other dishes more but if you like baos and buns go for it. Overall, great new place to try with great service. Timing of the dishes came out a little slow but I do think they're making dishes fresh to order so I really don't mind. We ordered takeout from Hap on a whim and wow am I glad we did! I got the veggie dumplings half fried half steamed and they were ok but the clear shrimp dumplings..... wow. We also had a few buns and a bowl none of which failed to impress. The food all had great flavor and looked amazing too. They also included sauces with each dish each of which paired wonderfully. The price was super reasonable, the people were super friendly, and they were quick too! I cannot wait to return and try more. I have nothing to complain about. The Grubhub menu featured on Yelp doesn't have all of their menu options listed so if you've never been in I would recommend stopping in to order get the full experience. Tl;dr: Great tasting food in a clean and friendly restaurant. Came here on a sleepy Saturday lunch hour. We had just spent the morning out doing errands and stopping at a few garage/moving/estate sales in the area when we thought that dumplings and soup would be a good lunch. A quick yelp brought us to Hap restaurant. We thought the place was closed when we arrived since there was no one in the dining room but we walked in and was greeted by the cashier immediately. The dining room was clean and the kitchen was visible behind the front desk (where I assume the assemble different rolls because they had a lot of fresh veggies ready), and the kitchen staff were busy chopping away at ingredients. We ordered wonton noodle soups, siu mai, and xiao long bao (soup dumplings)-- all pictured. Within about 10 minutes the soup came out piping hot! The serving size was just about right for me and my girlfriend (she had to take her leftovers home; I did not have any leftovers... typical) but I can see how some people may feel like they have been robbed of a bigger serving size. The quality was great! A nice balance of pork and shrimp broth that was kicked up with their homemade chili oil (ask for a side-- I don't think it was included). Next came the siu mai-- 6 perfectly steamed pork and shrimp dumplings. A little soy sauce drizzle over them and they were perfect. XLB were next and they came out hot. They come in their own little tin so all you have to do is drizzle a little of the soy/vinegar over the dumplings then pierce the skin and sip on the soup as you take the dumpling in. I discovered this place because I'm a food delivery driver and became a frequent customer after having such nice experiences with the staff. I love the pork although I am sad they are no longer serving the papaya salad with it to cut through the richness. The cucumbers work but are not the same. The Citrus brined Salmon is possibly the best salmon I have ever had. I love lox, poke and ceviche. The first taste of this is a little salty and the the citrus explodes it is perfectly balanced with the onion. The chunks of salmon are large enough to work with such bold flavors. Me and my boyfriend tried this place out a few days ago and were truly disappointed. At first glance this place looks very clean but once your really start looking around you see so many Flys and other flying insects. That definitely threw us off at first. Once we ordered it took a few minutes for someone to help us. That's not an issue but the flys started buzzing around us while we waited. My boyfriend got the shrimp salad rolls. Two orders and he told me something tasted off. I got the sweet chili wontons. They were tolerable. The only thing that we got that was good was their Thai iced tea. I really don't know what to say besides I wouldn't recommend this place. I wish I could but I can't in good faith when it seems they could be written up for several health code violations. read more

We tried this place after seeing it open a few months back. Sorry no food pics, we ate it way too fast! The chef was super helpful and informative on what the dishes were and why they were there. They have a good variety including lechon, salad rolls, banh mi, and more. We tried the pork & veggie dumplings, lechon, pineapple salad and turmeric rice. Dumplings - they were cooked perfectly and had an abundance of filling. 10 for $7.95 was great to me. Came with a spicy vinegar. 10/10 Lechon - we got the small portion and I wish I got the bigger one. It was delicious! Crispy and juicy all at once. Definitely recommend. 9/10 Pineapple salad - there were so many great flavors. Pineapple, radish, and some citrus and spice. Loved it! The flavors worked so well together. 10/10 Turmeric rice - i was a bit disappointed in this. The texture was perfect but flavor was bland. There were hundreds of ants crawling all over the soda dispenser, and the glass doors when entering could barely be seen through from all the fingerprints and smudges. there are no lids for the drinks. Popped into the new location in downtown Gresham tonight. It's so nice to see the cuisine options evolving. We tried a handful of items and were very pleased with the quality, flavor and value we received. The XLB were savory, deliciously soupy and tender. The clear shrimp dumpling (har gow) were plump. the wrapper was soft, smooth and not slippery at all! The pork shu mai were packed with perfectly seasoned steamed pork. Paired with the chili crisp, these were so good. The bbq pork bao were next level. The filling was moist and flavorful while the outer bun itself was fluffy, soft and delicate. Perfect Combo! The crispy pork belly was exactly as described. Super crispy! The meat was tender and flavorful. We were also given a chocolate mousse to try. boy was I pleasantly surprised. It wasn't too sweet but was so fluffy and perfectly chocolatey. Hap steam is quaint and cozy. Few seats inside may be an issue for bigger parties. Restaurant is clean and staff is very kind. Amazing spot for salad rolls and hot food! I've gone there twice in the last week and they have great service even when they are slammed with mobile orders! I love this place and honestly would recommend if you are looking to stay on the healthier side! I LOVE the pork belly! So crispy and thick pieces! They are one of the only places that stay open until late night! Service is above and beyond and they really care! I love the pork belly/salad roll selection and meat pies! Still haven't tried everything on the menu but the wontons are great too! If you haven't been, please do yourself a favor and do it!
