Just pick the food that ISN'T your generic panda express order and you'll be in heaven!! The service is always good except for recently. Seems they're training new hires and so things are a little slower than usual but that's ok! I hope our amazing usual host, Lee can catch a break! She's been the best server every time I go there. Just friendly and remembers your names! Ambiance can be anywhere from perfectly quiet to crying baby. It's a family kinda place and sometimes there's kids! Today was a bit strange as someone was in a blanket and sat at a table on their phone with headphones on laughing out loud. Looked like someone who worked there son? Hope that situation is all good! They seemed on the spectrum so I understand if a mother or father had to bring them to work. Love this place! 10/10 food, very friendly servers and seriously, I have been to so many Asian eateries and this place is THE ONE you have to try!

I couldn't find a decent Szechuan spot in Vancouver before, and I was tired of going into Portland…read morewhenever I had a craving... I'm so glad I found this neat spot! A lot of restaurants claim that they serve Szechuan food, but it's just regular Chinese food... This spot has both, and the Szechuan part is pretty good! We accidentally ordered 2 fried dishes by mistake, but they were both pretty delicious! We got the dried fish filet and spicy chicken/popcorn chicken. The fish was so crispy and savory... I didn't try the regular menu, but I will definitely come back to try more of their Szechuan menu soon (there were two separate menus when we came in). The staff was friendly, and the setting was chill! The free tea is always a plus :) If you love mala/szechuan flavours, try it out!

Teenager said the Lo Mein was "huge" (indeed) and we all agreed it was flavorful. The middle school kid said his sweet sour shrimp (ordered with sauce on the side) was "the best I've ever had", and even liked the sauce enough to dip a few which is a whole lot for a kid who isn't a fan of sauces in general. I ordered the sesame beef and while I really liked the sweetness level and the flavor, some of the pieces were hard to chew (not quite beef jerky but still much chewier than I would like). We ended up getting 2 pieces of raspberry cheesecake which the teen and kid swore was some of the best cheesecake they've ever had (sensing a theme starting here). I would highly recommend Golden City and will absolutely be back again next time we are in the mood for delish Chinese fare!

Hands down my favorite Korean Chinese fusion spot in the greater Portland area!! Pan + Grill K…read moreFusion serves the best black bean noodles I've had around here - rich, savory, and full of that unmistakable wok hei flavor. The pork belly is high quality and they don't skimp on the veggies. Their tangsuyuk is another standout, perfectly crispy even when coated in sauce, which is no easy feat (if you know, you know). The wasabi shrimp has a unique, addictive flavor with just the right amount of crunch. And the kimchi burger? Thoughtfully crafted with a soft brioche bun, a juicy, flavorful patty, and kimchi that really pops. Beyond the food, the hospitality makes the experience even better. Sam and the staff are incredibly warm and attentive. They are happy to offer recommendations, check in throughout your meal, and always greet you with a smile. If I lived closer, I would be there all the time, especially to take advantage of their lunch specials. If you are in the area, this place is an absolute must try, especially since they are always updating the menu with new dishes to try!

I ordered the General Tso's Chicken, with steamed rice and an Eggroll. Also Hot and Sour soup. Soup was delivered quickly... and it was good. Nice egg flowers, black fungus and tofu... flavor was adequate. Not spicy though. They soon brought out my main course, and there was a HUGE portion of General Tso's Chicken. Very crispy crust, and tender chicken. Sauce was ok.. again, not spicy. Eggroll was really large, and tasty. Rice was nicely cooked and didn't taste like it had set in a steamer for hours. Great service... good food. Whats not to like? Far better than the last place I tried.

Enjoyed our dinner at Taste of China…read more We ordered won ton soup, Mongolian beef, brown rice, and garden vegetable mix. I'm allergic to shrimp, so the server gave us extra BBQ pork slices in our won ton soup. The soup was delicious. We appreciate that the soup base wasn't salty. The won tons were cooked perfectly. The soup had vegetables as well. The Mongolian beef was tasty, and went well with the brown rice we ordered. The garden vegetables were slightly overcooked, but plentiful. I loved the light sauce because it didn't overpower the crisp-tender vegetables. We also ordered hot green tea. We appreciated that they offer free refills. The quantity served was greater than expected. Enough for a second dinner at home tomorrow. This will be our go-to place locally for Chinese food. Service was excellent. Plus, they gave my husband a military discount (he's a U.S. Air Force veteran). The restaurant was busy. Not too loud. My husband and I were still able to carry on a conversation. I highly recommend Taste of China for those looking for reasonable prices, a nice selection of Chinese dishes, wonderful service, and good food. It's across the street from Costco, on the same side of the road as Home Depot. We will definitely be back.

The flavors of the food across the board are so much stronger and complex than literally all other Chinese food restaurants I've ever patronized. Their operating model, though, is confusing. They have a lot of "ready now" entrees pre-made for immediate service (think "Panda Express"), and several others that are made-to-order. The "made to order" seems to be the better choice, as what's in the "ready to go" section may well have been sitting around long enough to get soggy. I know this from firsthand experience when some of my General Tso's chicken was the last of what was premade, and the rest was fresh. Not surprisingly, the fresh portion was hot and crispy (and DELICIOUS), and the portion from the premade batch was soggy and lukewarm. There are two chairs in the interior for patrons, so be prepared to stand while your order is filled. Parking is easy as Mar's is attached to a unique and charming Country store with its own parking lot.
