Omg, this prepared food market makes living in Flushing next best thing to living in Korea, at least as far as Korean food is concerned. They produce best kimchi ever and many more side dishes and soup that you can buy and eat right away. All you need is rice and you don't have to cook rest of the food. Ordered about $400 worth of food and typically these catering places gives a pack or two of Korean cakes as a thank you, for "service", Hansol gives nothing. This place is very solid Banchan and all the korean food catering place with many years of experience. There are Banchans that are really authentic and good. Some of their banchan are too authentic to make it right ( When it is authentic, it means it takes a long time to make it on your own. Of course, does it taste good after all the effort that is beyond the point.) My grandma used to make Dduk from the scratch weekly basis when I was young and it was really good. I grew up eating pasta and mostly non-Korean food, however, dduk is my soul food. Even if I have been eating non-Korean food last 20+ years, I am very picky when it comes to Korean food since I grew up eating real authentic Korean food made by my Grandma especially Kimchi, Namool,etc. This place makes solid dduk, namool, and banchan. I've stumbled upon this place a while ago and tried their kimchi and got hooked since. It's not as spicy or tangy as some other ones, but it tastes more homemade which I love. I also like that their prices are very reasonable. I used to get ones from Hmart but I never loved them and they were also quite expensive. I havent tried all their banchans but the items I've tried were all good. I wish they would smaller containers of their radish kimchi since I am eating for one. I also really want to try their ddeok but they are a bit much for me. I've tried their sweet fried chicken and it was SOOO yummy. It was still crispy when I took it home. Their ddeokbokki was also really good. The sauce is thick and not too sweet and spicy. Their rice cakes were very soft and not too chewy after reheating it. I actually like getting kimbap and dipping the kimbap in their sauce for extra flavor. I've also tried their multicolored noodles they had at one point which were made from various vegetables. Sometimes they also have fried sweet potato chips which are a little sweet because they sprinkle a little sugar with it. They also have bento boxes if you want a quick meal. I've been meaning to go back because I also want to try their soups. So far, this has been my go to spot for when I want some korean banchan/snacks. I definitely need to back to try more. Convenient and tasty Korean food that you can heat and eat at home. Whether it's their cold side dishes, warm dishes, their soups or even their homemade drinks almost everything is fantastic. Not too salty and made with care, it reminds me of food made at home. Plus, the food is super consistent over many many visits! Some of my favorite dishes include the sweet and sour pork (don't forget to pick up the side container of sauce!), meat patties with its hint of ginger, sweet sticky chicken wings, collagen filled beef bone soup, and slight spicy bean paste stew. The cinnamon persimmon punch packs a powerful kick and is perfectly cooling in the summer. While the soondae and kimbap are just fine, these are the few things I prefer to pick up elsewhere. The good soups (like the beef bone) seem to go fast earlier in the day. The packaging for the warm side dishes is not my favorite (those lids are not air tight!) but certainly forgivable considering how good the food is. Don't forget to bring your own bag! read more

They're amazing! I needed a new caterer stat after the person who was originally going to cater my son's dol canceled on me with less than a week's notice. I panicked, but Yelp came to my rescue. Despite never having tried anything here before, I trusted all the five-star reviews and the fact that they could do my catering with only a few day's notice. I ordered enough food for 25 people (galbi jjim, fried rice, fried mandu, japchae, mung bean pancakes, squash jeon, fish jeon, kimbap, pickles, spinach, and tteok), which costs around $500. The food was amazing, incredible, fantastic, and superb! It was exactly what I wanted for my son's dol - traditional old school Korean food. It's exactly the type and quality of food that I grew up eating and my parents buy. The galbi jjim was the star of the show, with the squash jeon and fried mandu not far behind. I was really happy with the great service and incredible food. I wanted to share super traditional Korean food (you know, Korean food for Korean people) with my friends and I'm so grateful that Hansol Food allowed me to do that. Similar to the price of the prepared foods at Hmart but fresher and better quality. They prepare their food on the premises so it's often still warm when you buy it. read more

Now, suppose you are married to a Chinese girl born in South Korea - her cultural identity swings more towards the Han river than the Pearl. She spends more time watching Korean drama on her phone than you'll ever spend on Netflix, and when you come home, it's likely the scent of her galbitang on the stove, and not your mom's Cantonese mushroom chicken feet soup. What's for dinner at home? Sometimes it's something completely unexpected in an otherwise Chinese-American household (like New England boiled supper or Tunisian chickpea soup), or maybe it's something ordinary, like fettuccine with store-bought pesto. Sometimes my Honker upbringing calls for a bowl of Hong Kong diner style macaroni soup. But more times than not the missus will hold sway in the kitchen, and you need banchan (Korean style side dishes) for the seollongtang (a fairly comforting, if not slightly bland beef bone-and-meat broth typically consumed during wintertime). So, where do you go for banchan? Well, if you dated a Korean girl, the answer is...her umma, halmeoni or emoni (that's mom, grandma or auntie, respectively), and they are usually good for that. Suppose if they are on the wrong side of the world? So where do you go for your kimchi, the acorn/bean jelly, the spicy squids, the seaweed salad or the spicy little dried anchovies? Up until recently? It was Jinga, the banchan purveyor at every H-Mart out there. Their wares are...acceptable, but there are no guesses to their freshness along with a fairly expensive pricetag. I mean, you could try Janchi Janchi, which is next to GumGangSan closer to downtown Flushing, but eeeh, the food was even more "meh", more pricey, and hell, I heard that the owner is...not very nice. Well, you could come here instead. 162nd street, right next to ParkSanal Babs (they specialize in bowls of deeply flavored beef and bone soup), there is a curious catering store that sells banchan. When you walk in you get the usual ricecakes (theok) that are either plain or have mugwort added to it for color and fragrance. Then you have the ones sandwiched with azuki, kabocha jam and dusted with sweet bean powder - good stuff. They tend to be rather gummy in your typical H-Mart packages, but here, they are fairly soft and supple. You have the fridge cases full of various pickled and preserved Korean specialties - for example, garlic ramps marinated in a spicy garlic soy dressing, or raw octopus completely slathered in spicy chili pepper sauce. Maybe there are deep fried nori (seaweed) with a thin tempera batter, or perhaps various forms of omelette. They have jars upon jars of kimchis, various vegetables salted, seasoned and fermented. There's the traditional cabbages, the spring onions, the daikon radishes, and of course, the stuff containing, oh, raw oysters. When served in small side dishes in a household it's immensely tasty. The stuff sold in Hansol seems to taste fresher than their H-Mart Jinga counterparts, and the pricing is slightly better (about 5%). Also, unlike their little stand behind the fish section at HanYang, it feels cleaner at this location. So yeah, sometimes when the missus needs to pick up banchan, we'll skip Murray Hill plaza and come here instead. She'll almost always end up with some rice cakes and at least one banchan. read more

I have been meaning to write a review for a couple of years. We ordered food here for my daughter's 1st and 2nd birthday parties in 2019 and 2020 (before the pandemic closed everything down). Food was fantastic and it was enjoyed by everyone Korean and non Korean. We ordered bulgogi, fried rice, mandu, regular and cucumber kimchi, gosari, chicken stew and a few other things. My mom swears against buying banchan because everything must be made at home- she's super traditional in that sense & it's been passed down to me. STILL, my mom & I can't seem to stay away from this place. They have a large variety of Korean staples ranging from almost 10 different types of kimchi to beautifully made (& delicious) artisanal dduk (Korean rice cakes) to generously portioned dosiraks (literally translates to lunch box).
