The service is fine, and everything on the menu I've tried has been yummy, with the brussels and jalapeño cheddar sausage being my faves. Bring back the lavender syrup for coffee! (Please) My experience at Hank's is always average at best. The coffee is ok. They use to carry lavender syrup for the coffee and don't anymore. The dinner is always hit or miss. I've had a decent burger but then the brussel sprouts come out too burnt and overcooked. Hank's did save the day during the 2021 snowpocalypse tho. The menu looks pretty tasty based on the available choices but after ordering salmon toast and a fried egg sandwich I was very disappointed. The salad on my salmon toast was overflowing off my plate, and the dish itself wasn't very good. The fried egg sandwich was ok but also boring, and the potatoes seemed unseasoned. Service at the restaurant was great, I had no issues and the staff were friendly to me and my kiddo. Hank's is a great place to catch up with friends for a brunch vibe. The interior is perfect for photos: there is a lot of white light and makes your photos almost look filtered! I love the drinks here. I usually get the iced americano or their matcha latte, both of which are really great options! I will say that it gets pretty loud around brunch time so it isn't the best place to study then! I've tried their avocado toast and hamburger, which is pretty good. It is a tad bit overpriced for the size, but it's expected for brunch places in Austin. The servers and baristas here are also super sweet! Highly recommend giving this place a try read more

I have definitely driven by this place soooo many times without realizing what it was and honestly now can't wait to come back! They have a huge covered patio area with lots of seating and a coffee drive through too I need to try. I did a walk in with a group of friends and we were able to be seated pretty quickly despite not having a reservation which was nice. I got the shakshuka with an iced mocha. The shakshuka was yummy I just wish there was one more piece of toast to scoop up the vast amounts of tomato-y goodness. The mocha was alright but was brought out in a plastic to go cup even though we were eating at the restaurant which I thought was waste of plastic and also a bit odd. I absolutely loved the food at hanks! I ordered the hot fried chicken sandwich with fries, and it was absolutely amazing! I also ordered the Hanky Panky Tiki and the drink came in the most adorable cup. While I did not entirely adore the bourbon in the drink, my server was so accommodating. I let him know I didn't love the drink and would prefer the frosé. Without hesitation he went to replace my beverage and never even charged me for the tiki drink. Came here for dinner with a couple of friends on a Monday night. I had the Frozen Paloma, Queen B Marg, and the Bourbon Basil Lemonade. All were okay. For the appetizer, the hummus with extra pita bread was very tasty. I would recommend. The hot chicken sandwich with fries was great, another recommendation from me there. Hanks has wonderful ambiance. A great place to meet friends, bring visitors, hang out, eat. Love the interior, and the staff are always relaxed, friendly and attentive. The only thing missing is a solid vegan option. Avocado is offered as the vegetarian option but it is not a protein. We need tofu, seitan, or tempeh, as an option where chicken, salmon, steak are offered. Even plain old beans would be allright, tho the others are better. (Note: the homemade veggie burger here should be avoided. It tastes like burned brown rice and also does not have sufficient protein.) I usually get the hummus, pita and cauliflower plate. It's oily but solidly delicious. Great for sharing. The frozen cocktails are also delicious. read more

What's better than a burger? One that is half-off! All-day Monday at Hank's is Burger Mondays where you can get just that. This is a great deal since this moves it from $13 for a cheeseburger and fries to $6.50. Alternatively you can get their veggie burger at $7.50 (down from $15). So, my thoughts on the burger? It's good! Just your typical burger, nothing more, nothing less. At $6.50 I was satisfied, but I wouldn't have paid $13 for it. Additionally, they have happy hour every day (even weekends) from 3-6:30pm where you get $3 off appetizers. I got the Hummus & Pita for $8 (down from $11) and the Brussels Sprouts for $7 (down from $10). Similar to what I said above regarding the burger, these were as good you'd expect. My overall impressions is that if you are looking for a nice, yet casual spot to eat at for happy hour - this is a spot worth checking out. I'm not sure I would personally come for any other occasion. With that being said, I give them a 3.5/5 for being "good", but since I can't do half stars, I'll have to round down since I felt more to be desired. read more

I have been to Hank's probably 25-30 times since the first day they opened. While they still need improvement in a few areas, the good news is that they are trending in the right direction. Drinks This is easy to say they are 4-5 stars on the frozen drinks and the Hanky Panky. The speed that the drinks come out will vary, by day of the week, the bartender and how busy they are. Food The food ranges from 3-4 stars. My favorite menu items are the burger, french fries, baked ricotta, sausage & cheese and the brussel sprouts. Although I enjoy their burgers very much, I do feel that the portion is small for the price point (even if they might be serving grass fed and finished beef or prime). I have been told that their rice bowls/wok out bowls are good. Service I always get great service. I have no complaints in this area. Chad the bar manager offers exceptional service and I would also like to give a shout out to Ty (a.k.a. Tyranian) who is an attentive and friendly server. Ty even took the time to greet and interact with the 4 legged friends that accompanied us on our last visit. If you can sit in Ty's section, you will not be disappointed. Atmosphere This is an easy 4- 5 stars. Like everyone says, the interior is beautiful. My only complaint is the heat on the patio from the sun. Even with the newly installed sun screens it is HOT on the patio. Maybe some large commercial box fans on each end and/or some misters would help. read more

My friend and I visited the Austin Reuse Store over in this neighborhood and we just so happened to end up at Hank's afterwards. Weird?!? :) It was almost 4 so seemed a good enough hour to start a happy hour with a drink and a snack. There were some drinks and appetizer specials so everybody wins! I ordered a glass of the house white- which was Pinot Grigio. It was light and refreshing and also on tap...keep 'em flowing! My friend ordered the spicy margarita. It had a great balance of heat and tartness. We ordered the hummus for our snack. It came with plenty of pita and some roasted cauliflower in the middle. I enjoy my hummus a little bit smoother. My friend likes it like this! ;) When I make my own I notice it comes out a little thicker, like this one. At least I know I'm doing it right! The flavor was great! We practically cleaned the plate. Great for brunch, lunch, or dinner and the little coffee cafe on the end is sweet. There's also a coffee drive-through if you want something quick. The menu is a bit trendy (much like the decor). What a disappointing experience in what I know is a nice place. Came in with friends for happy hour and sat in the bar area. I ordered my brandy old fashion and First they had no glasses.... wait no GLASSES? This is a bar... it was pretty full but not that bad... ummmmmm WASH ONE! They check on us and we say again... still no sausage... and they run off again. The sausage finally comes out and 5 mins later they come out with another one thinking we still haven't gotten ours. Mean while I'm eating my pita and hummus and I look at the next piece of pita and it has some big green blob on it.... yeeewww!! That's it for me... I'm done. The bartender tells the manager, the manager comes and talks to me and I explain our experience from the time we walked in... she offers free gifts and I politely decline... I don't want anything... I'm not trying to get free stuff... that is not what this is about. We end up with a delicious dessert sent to us for free by the manager. (It was really good!) that was very kind. "Maybe" one more try another time (this actually was my second time here. I was here for an event before during their big opening time. Things were messed up then too. I thought it was just opening bugs... maybe it's the management, the forecasting, the structure... whatever it is something is not getting this place to click yet!)... this time was certainly far from stellar! First of all, this place is beautiful! From the outside of the building to the interior design with ceiling lanterns and large windows that bring plenty of natural light into the building, I loved the vibe I got when I walked into this building. We arrived around 1:30 on a Sunday and were seated within 5 minutes. The seats at our booth were sooo comfortable by the way. The waiter did a great job throughout our stay also. This place offers a variety of everything, especially with beverages. There's a full coffee, tea, wine, and cocktail menu. The coffee tasted very fresh and strong. We ordered the avocado toast, which tasted great but was pricey for just an avocado toast in my opinion. We also ordered the veggie burger and cheeseburger. The meat tasted great but the buns tasted a bit dry. Here's what I looooove about Hank's: 1. The fries + aioli. Omg, I think I've found my favorite fries in all of Austin. I sometimes just order drinks and fries and their fried zucchini...which brings me to my next point 2. Happy hour is great! It's 3-6:30 and it's every day even on the weekends! For us late risers, it's great to have options that don't break the bank. Their drinks are also very tasty and quite strong. 3.
