Awesome hot chicken spot! Highly recommend trying the chicken sando or getting a chicken fingers meal! If you are not super hungry, the Jr. sando is not a bad option at all and still plenty of food! Service was fast and friendly. Inside was clean. Parking was not too difficult to find a spot for lunch. I would hope that this place is popping before Mariners, Sounders, and Seahawks games, because it is tasty. I like spicy food, and I talked with them about what I normally order elsewhere to adjust my spice tolerance to them. I ended up going up a level in spice compared to what I normally would have thought. The company is based out of Virginia, so do with that information what you will. Overall, it is a good addition to the spicy chicken market in the area. Will go back again and want to try the loaded fries and the loaded mac and cheese, just because it is intriguing. As a Hot-chicken-enjoyer I was eager to give Hangry Joes a try once I was in the area. I ordered on the digital kiosk right as you walked in. Since it was my first time, I wanted to order something simple, and I tried the 4 piece chicken tender, second hottest level ("hot"). The best thing I can say about the tenders were that they were freshly made and hot, and the hangry dipping sauce was pretty good. But the tenders really lacked much seasoning or spice at all, and the batter was so thin there wasn't much crunch to them either. I wouldn't order these again. But the medium here felt like it was scared of me. There was an essence of pepper, but nothing that even tickled my tongue. If I went here again, I would try the hot for sure. The chicken at Hangry Joe's is a carbon copy from what I've seen of Dave's. It's nothing to write home about, but if you're in the area it's a decent spot to try. They do a decent job on the chicken itself. A very thin layer of breading, that still has a crisp. It actually doesn't make you feel that bad after eating it. Sunday after the Mariners game, I was walking back to my car acting like a tourist taking in my surroundings. Well, Hangry Joes. 1st Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98134, caught my eye. The facility offers 3 self-ordering stations, in addition to counter service. This place is definitely capable of handling a large crowd if needed. The ordering process is certainly a seamless process, if you're not familiars with the offerings, there's several menu board to peruse. The service is expeditious, friendly enough for an in and out to go experience. There is a single, well-maintained bathroom in the establishment, which i found to be a plus, as it shows to me at least that the care about the customer experience. So, I ordered the # 3 combo, Chicken Bap with Waffle Fries, plus a med drink. Also ordered a side of Cole slaw. The combo was $16.95, and the slaw was $3.95. As for the flavor and quality of the food, let's start with the waffle fries, I'd have to give a pass on them, they were rather mid, as in not creamy on the interior, nor crispy on the exterior. The Cole slaw, for me was mildly sweet, yet overpowered by a savory aspect, it was not creamy or refreshing. I'm not a fan of KFC, but they do have a refreshing, sweeter, crisper Cole slaw that it to die for, but not enough that I'd go out of my way to purchase. The chicken bap with the Spicy Soy Garlic Sauce, over rice was pretty good, but familiar to other dishes of its kind. I'd have to try other options to say if I'd go back for another go round. We were so excited when this location opened! Having loved the Hangry Joe's in Kirkland, we couldn't wait to check out the new spot. We came around 8:40 PM on a Friday. Although they mentioned they were closing at 9 PM, they still kindly took our orders, which we really appreciated. I got the Messy Chicken Sando combo and thoroughly enjoyed it! The restaurant was spacious--larger than the Kirkland location. At exactly 9 PM, the staff came out and let everyone know it was closing time and we needed to leave. We weren't quite finished with our meals, but we packed up the rest to go (all meals were served in to-go boxes anyway). I was craving some hot chicken and found this place through a Google search. I went on a Sunday but there was no parking available so I went back the day after. I saw this place on social media and was moderately intrigued. It wasn't what I expected. You walk in and are immediately greeted with 3 kiosks, 2 of which is for Hangry Joe's and 1 for poké. For the chicken portion of the shop, it was decorated in cartoon chickens that I thought were funny. We ordered a combo which came with waffle fries and drink, a regular hot chicken sandwich, and a passion fruit tea. Fries were good, not very hot coming out but crispy. Chicken was ok. Not crispy, with a thin batter. Very hot. I got mine with the Smokey bbq sauce and I thought it was gonna be dunked in sauce but it was just sorta drizzled on, so I do wish I got more of that flavor. I saw someone else say they wish they got slaw on the side, so I did that, and I'm glad I did and encourage others to do so. My bf got it with slaw in and I saw it was quite drippy. Finally! Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken has been on my local must try restaurants for a bit now and yesterday, I went! The location is easy to find as it's across the street from Starbucks HQ and the Amazon place. There is automated ordering similar to Shake Shack with kiosks at the entry area. The location doubles with SoDo Poke sharing the inside space. The inside is large and pleasantly decorated with bright and busy murals and menus on the walls. We each had a Chicken Sando combo that came with a canned soda and waffle fries and a couple of containers of their Yum Yum sauce (sorta like fry sauce). You can order the chicken sandwich with varying levels of hotness. I chose medium and my son chose hot. We each agreed that the spice level of hotness was less than expected. In other words, they weren't too hot. That being said, we loved our sandwiches! The sandwich chicken piece was very large and stuck out about 3 inches from the bun and the waffle fries were crispy and cooked right. The sandos come with pickles, cider slaw and the sauce and when ordering you can have some of those items on the side. I like their customization options. Top 3 favorite chicken places in Seattle!! Spicy and delicious. I forgot to take a photo again but this was my second time going and I feel like it gets better each time! The hangry sauce is my favorite and I always grab a few extra sides for my meal. Service is quick and consistent usually. I've had the wrap and the strips. I preferred the strips because the meat was thiccc and juicy. The wrap has an amazing slaw but falls apart very easily. I don't really know how to resolve that but I'll try to think of a creative solution on my end! The teas are also yummy and fresh. Great location and I really appreciated that they were open for dinner at 7:30pm on a weekday. Most places in that area are only open during lunch hours. Inside is really big with many tables. Sandwich combination ~$23 including extra pickles and tip (they gave me 3 extra pickle slices for $.50). I expect an excellent chicken sandwich at that price point. My main feedback in the bun and chicken were dry. The portion was good and came hot and well seasoned. A dry bun will easily ruin any sandwich. Spice levels are very low, don't be afraid of the higher levels - they issue a heat warning (and waiver at the highest level) - which is I think a gimmick. Waffle fries were small lukewarm and uninspiring - think gas station fries. I had to pay for sauce ($0.65) where I should've received at least one free sauce. Far too much hype, 'cool' signage, Nashville references, and price for that caliber of chicken sandwich/fries. I'll try again in a couple weeks and edit my review if the experience is different. I came ordered my food on the Kiosk for a To Go order waited for 30 mins still no food I went to talk to to the guy that was working the counter super nice he apologized and said hopefully 5 more mins then out of no where I hear screaming and cursing from the kitchen where the cooks where and there were arguing .. and there where other customers waiting for the food and all hell broke loose turn out one of the cook was drunk and drinking on the job. I asked for a refund the poor kid working the counter had to deal with this he was nice the cooks where that was drunk should get fired ... probably won't be going there again read more
