I knew this place was going to be stellar, as I've heard absolutely nothing but great reviews about it since its opened.
We came here on a Saturday. At around 8am my tummy started grumbling and talk started to occur about where we would eat for breakfast. by 8:30 we decided to come here and I knew there was going to be a line out the door soon due to the fact that Ive seen this play out almost every weekend at around this time (well, a little later actually) so I told my boyfriend to "hurry it up" so we could make it there before we both started getting Hangry.
We walked up at around 9 ish and there was a line, but not too bad. We were the first ones that had to stand outside. I started getting a little anxious because the line was taking forever to move, but then I saw that there was a system in place. The person behind the counter was meticulous in getting everyones order correct because he knew he had the time to do so-the place is very small with not much room to wait on food, which takes a little time to be made as things seem to be home made, so why rush on getting everyones order and making customers wait in a cluster? Once I saw how the pace was moving I started playing on my phone, checking out the menu, so that way we could be ready when we reached the counter.
Since my boyfriend isn't much of a breakfast eater I wasn't sure when we would have the chance to come back, so I decided to order everything. Ha. We each got the biscuit of our choice. Mine was the A.C Slawter and he got the Chick Boom. Along with that we had seen the hashbrowns fly by us earlier on a plate so ordered a side of that, and I love pickled anything so we also got the pickled Vegetables. My boyfriend chimed in last minute about Lemon Bars, and while I'm not a fan of those I figured, "why not!?" and added those to our smorgasbord too. As the cashier was recovering from shock of how much we had just ordered I asked, "Do you guys serve Cold Brew?". It wasn't mentioned on their menu but since they served Three Ships coffee I had a feeling they might. And to my sweet sweet surprise he said Yes! So, I got that as well. 5 plates and 3 drinks later we gathered our feast and sat outside.
Outside seating is great. Lots of covering to give you a little bit of shade. The seating is communal. Big long picnic tables. But if you like your alone time they have bar style standing on the outside railing. So this place can hold a decent amount of people. There are only about 3 tables inside and with all the traffic and people waiting for their food I honestly wouldn't recommend sitting inside. It gets a little, claustrophobic.
#FoodTalk: There isn't much to say except, good lord that was good!!! The apple slaw, hot lupo sauce and pulled pork on my AC Slawter... I think as foodies we all know this is a match made in heaven. The serving is heaping and the sauce soaks through that biscuit as it should. Its simply perfect. The Chick Boom had some great flavors! Cool and refreshing, this is a great summer time biscuit. Our pickled veggies were spot on. And the Hasbrowns, shut the front door. Even the Lemon Bar had me ACTUALLY liking Lemon Bars! So moist! I know you all love that word. ;)
Love this place! So glad it has stayed up to par with its reviews and food. Keep doing what your doing Handsome Biscuit! Its great! read more
