I stopped in for lunch with my mother. They have a lunch special with a bahn mi and bubble tea for $9.25 which you should be getting. I got the classic which was very good and very fresh. The meat tasted great, there was a good amount of toppings, and the bread was nice and crispy. It was more than enough to fill me up. The bubble tea was very sweet and had a decent flavor, I was a bit surprised about how sweet the bubbles were. My mother got a roasted pork salad which she seemed to enjoy, I took a bike and thought he pork tasted great. I'd have no hesitations about coming back the next time I'm in the mood for a nice sandwich. read more

Been here two times and each experience was a little different. The first time, I got the Pho Xe Lau to go....big mistake. Don't get me wrong the food was delicious, but because you have put all the fixings into the soup and mix, I made a bit of a mess in my office. I admit it was my fault, told myself to get something with less maintenance next time. And that brings us to today, got the Class Bahn Mi and Black Bubble Tea. The sandwich was delicious, got it spicy and it was just enough kick. The combination of fresh veggies, crunchy bread, pate and pork was all in all one of the best sandwiches. It was a great price, awesome size: fills you up without making you fill super full. My only negative about this place is the Carry out area. It is awkwardly located next to the entrance to upstairs dining so you are there with out 10 other people waiting for food and a constant stream of dining in patrons either coming or going. Pretty decent. I've been on the hunt for the past 2 years for a decent place I can get noodle soup. So I had the pho. Tofu with the beef broth. It was good, the tofu was actually particularly good, had a lot of flavor (you know sometimes it just tastes like nothing). The portion size was enormous. I ended up taking about 2/3 of it to go. Warning...which I should have known better. There was a decent amount of cilantro in the pho. I was able to skim most of it off before it's vile flavor infected my broth, but I will have to remember for next time. The seating was pretty nice, I sat upstairs, and it was light and airy. Also, it felt really clean, which is always a plus. The music was kinda weird, but not so loud that it was bothersome. Grabbed an almond bubble tea on the way out. Yum yum. I do love bubble tea. I'm sure I'll be back here being that I live in the neighborhood, though I'll probably continue my search for the perfect soup. read more

Since it was a dreary day, I decided to give the Pho here a try. I got the grilled pork chop pho and the thai bubble tea. The pho was decent, however I slightly liked the one at Nicky's Vietnamese a little better. They serve the pork chop on the side and the broth is slightly more flavorful. The bubble tea was a nice treat as well and was great alongside the pho. Overall though, the sandwiches here are the star and I think I will stick to those from now on. Brooklyn Heights really lacks authentic delicious Asian food and Hanco comes to the rescue. I come here at least once or twice a week. Whenever I come back from work and can't decide what to eat...Hanco's it is. I love the Bahn Mi sandwich - original one with mild spicy sauce. While the beef Pho is pretty awesome, not the best Pho in the country but best Pho in the neighborhood. Passion fruit tea with bubbles are very tasty too. read more

If you get the pho with a tea drink, I strongly advise to finish the pho first and drink later. I made the mistake of drinking the thai tea (which had a really good strong flavor) then eating the pho. The pho broth wasn't as strong as the thai tea, making it taste less flavorful. Or, you can clean your palate with water in between... but anyways.... the beef pho was average, and the thai tea was pretty good. read more

Why does the other hancos in cobble hill have so many more reviews and better ratings?? I've tried both in the last week for the first time and they seemed pretty consistent to me...i.e. very delicious. I haven't ventured far from the classic sandwich. Tried the boba for the first time and while not as good as places like Kung fu tea, it's quite decent. The pearls tasted fresh and chewy...oh yeah and by the way FREE DELIVERY over $10 of course. I order lunch from here when I;m working in Brooklyn. The sandwiches are quite tasty (pork ftw!) and. the portion is good. Be warned that the spicy is very very spicy. When I'm extra hungry, I also order the shrimp spring roll which is a little bland itself to be honest but the peanut sauce it comes with is good. Although this place isn't the most authentic or cheapest place for bahn mi, the sandwiches are flavorful and the location is very convenient for people working in downtown brooklyn. I'm hit or miss personally with viatnamese food. Hanco's is a good choice. Love their sandwiches. I also am not a huge fan of bubble tea (gasp! I know) but get their sparkling lemondade which is sooo yummy!! They're service is so-so. Every time I go it takes forever to get the food I feel like. I recently started working in brooklyn heights and I looooove this place. Disclaimer: I havent been to too many veitnamese places and during the week I like to keep it healthy without breaking the bank. This fits the mold. It's a great alternative to your traditional tossed salad. Thus far I have had the pleasure of having their summer roll (4.50) with a fantastic peanut satay sauce and their pork salad (heafty portion for $7) and their vietnamese iced coffee (with condensed milk...just perfection). One of my favorite Hanco locations. Everytime I'm in the city I go straight to Hancos for their Grilled Pork Banh MI. Hanco's is the best Vietnamese restaurant in the area. I always ordered beef noodle soup fro here. The soup is very tasty. The beef is always overdone. Thai ice tea is way too sweet for me. I like the vibe here. Love to sit in upstairs. I am addicted to Hanco's. I eat their tofu sandwiches several times a week and don't think I will ever get sick of them. The bubble tea is great, as is the coffee. The rice vermacelli is also delicious. The staff is really friendly. There is plenty of space, although it can get crowded during lunch. The only problem is their delivery. Every time I order they write down my address wrong and go to the wrong place or write down my phone number wrong and stand in the lobby calling the wrong number before they finally give up and leave. I was pretty satisfied with my order of a Thai iced tea with bubbles and beef pho. For the review underneath that stated about the pho having tendons, that's normal when ordering beef pho. I was surprised that the pho would be as good as a Vietnamese restaurant I would go to in Chinatown. This place is great if you want to have a lunch or dinner. Don't come to this location (area) as often, but when I do I often come here for lunch. It's my favorite of the Hanco's because it is usually clean and tidy unlike some of their other locations. They are very efficient and fast too. It took me a long time to realize there is more seating upstairs, but I also like that they have outdoor seating and usually try to do that. read more

The prices are a little higher than I'm used to, but I still visit often when it gets cold and I have a craving for soup. The pho is tasty, featuring a rich soup broth and fresh veggies, but not enough meat. Fortunately, the banh mi is more generously portioned. However, it costs a little more than I'm used to paying for a Vietnamese sandwich. Their bubble tea can be described in the same way: good, but pricier than I would like. Of the two Vietnamese places in the area I actually prefer Nicky's on Atlantic. Hanco's wins on convenience and seating availability though. read more

I work nearby and come here every week. I'll give the rice vermicelli and the sandwiches 4 stars. Pho only three stars - not terrible - The broth is pretty good - but I've definitely had better in terms of quantity and quality of meat. Also the ingredients are pretty basic, not tripe or any of that (they only have one option for beef Pho) I know its NYC so I'm not expecting the same prices as Philly or some other places I've been to. read more

This is the best addition to sleepy Montague St. in a long time. I got a shredded chicken Vietnamese sandwich and an original black milk bubble tea with soy milk last night and both were fantastic. The layout is a little strange (you have to walk to the back of the shop to pick up your food and you get your drink in a different place), but I don't mind as long as the food is good, which it was. Can't wait to try the rice vermicelli bowls and other tasty looking things on the menu. And I love that they have soy milk for the bubble teas - that can be hard to find. Growing up in Flushing and New York, I have definitely had my fair share of good vietnamese sandwiches and bubble tea so when Hancos opened up near my apt, I was pretty intrigued to try it (I had heard about it from friends who lived near their Park Slope branch) and happy at the thought of not having to trek to Nicky's whenever I have cravings. I decided to try take-out with my boyfriend and got the classic and grilled pork sandwiches with thai tea and almond bubble tea. Granted, if you are use to paying Flushing/Chinatown prices, there is definitely sticker shock but hey, you're in Brooklyn Heights so no one around here would quibble for a $10 meal that includes sandwich and drink. I definitely liked the thai tea bubble tea (and have gotten it again since the first visit) but my boyfriend and I felt that the almond one was too watered down. The sandwiches were good but definitely not authenttic by any means (maybe they should advertise "vietnamese sandwich-inspired). They definitely pack in alot of meat and vegetable fixings (which help soothe the $6+ price per sandwich) but the flavor is just off for people who are use to the real deal. So average the review so far, it would be three stars...BUT my boyfriend noticed our debit card transaction and realized that the store took the liberty of tipping themselves $3 on our bill. Granted, it might have been my mistake if I didn't write in the final total but I have never had a business do that to me before and am alittle miffed (it was take out! and service was okay at best). Was in the mood for some Mango Green bubble tea and quickly search for a place in the Downtown BK area. This was this closes place by Court st. It was okay, the only good part was the pearls which were fat, and not too chewy. The actual tea was too sweet, and too pricy. A small/medium was $4.00. Probably won't be going back since there are cheaper, better tasting bubble tea places throughout the city. read more
