We had a wonderful dinner at Half Shells, a favorite spot for us, this evening! Found a parking space less than a block away, got seated immediately and it was Happy Hour, so off to a good start! We asked for a table since the booth was directly in front of two ladies having an animated conversation. Moving to a table was no problem in this lovely room. Our server, Joel, came right away to get our drink orders. I asked if I could get the crab and shrimp boil without the shrimp - 1/2# of shrimp seemed like more than I could eat. Joel said I could substitute an extra crab claw for the shrimp and that was fine. My husband had a dozen oysters to start - glad I opted to wait for my dinner! My husband had one of the special entrees - horseradish-crusted flounder with mashed potatoes and sugar snap peas - which he said was excellent. (Had to taste the peas and they were delicious!) I had no idea the crab boil would be so generous, so told my husband I would share it. We absolutely ate it all! Joel was very busy with other tables, we saw that he was very observant and took care of the diners' needs immediately. We complimented Joel at the end of the wonderful meal and learned that he was relatively new at this location. I let him know that I would be writing a good review on Yelp because I believe he earned that. As a postscript: when we got home, my husband discovered that he had left his cell phone on the table. I phoned and Joel said he had found it , but we were already gone. This newer employee is a keeper! We will ask for him in the future. read more

I haven't been to the physical location yet, but we ordered food through the Uber Eats app. They have a wide variety of selections and everything looks delicious. I ordered a few items for each individual at my party. I can't speak for them, but there were no complaints. I just got a salad with salmon and it was cooked to my liking, medium. Will definitely go check out the place soon. read more

Delicious! We were at a movie at the Angelika next door and wanted to grab dinner. We randomly walked in here and ended up loving it! Started with Crab Bisque and Gumbo and they were both fantastic. For entrees ordered the Shrimp Etouffee and the Red Trout and they were excellent. Spiro, the awesome Manager, stopped by and introduced himself and gave us a complimentary soup sampler (see photo). All were so tasty. I want to try the Jalapeno Cream Soup next time. Great service! We will be back. read more

Today we were shopping for furniture at NBM and on the way home stopped at The Shops at Legacy in Plano. We planned to just pick a spot and try it. The first one that struck our fancy was Half Shell Seafood. We were NOT disappointed!!! They asked if we had been in before and we said we had not, so they brought us this plate with two oyster nachos (me hate oysters..normally) and a sample of crab bisque, clam chowder, gumbo, and roasted jalapeño soup. First thing to note, that was a BRILLIANT way to welcome new patrons, it completely changed our intended order. Since it was a little late in the day we wanted to eat light because we'd be having dinner in 6 hours. What we ended up doing was having the clam chowder, crab bisque, and shared the shrimp/lobster grilled cheese that we dipped in our own soups. Every thing we tried (including the sampler plate) was a 9 out of 10! We live in Forney, be we have already made plans to return in the very near future! The mocktail, appetizer, soup, and entree were phenomenal!! Please give them a chance, you won't be disappointed! read more

This place is just okay in my opinion. I love seafood but I feel there are better choices. I wasn't impressed by any of my meal. I ordered the seafood platter with fried and blackened catfish and shrimp along with red beans and rice and gumbo. The fish and shrimp were fine, nothing special. The gumbo and red beans & rice desperately needed salt and some flavor. This is a really cool spot in a trendy area but I will most likely go elsewhere for my seafood cravings. read more

Sat at the bar. 5:00 on a Saturday afternoon. Had the Tito's Lemonade and Peel & Eat Shrimp for starters. Ordered the Miso Glazed Alaskan Black Cod for the entre with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Key Lime pie for dessert. Very nice. Should have had the Redfish though from the looks of others' plates! read more

Decided to try this spot out as it's local and it did not disappoint. Came during happy hour, and the shrimp nachos for $6 are SO FILLING. Great sitting at the bar with great service from Rudy. I love the vibe and feel of this place. We alway go for the oysters....fresh and grilled are both worth trying. Try to catch them (no pun intended) during happy hour. Otherwise, you will be a bit shocked by the bill. We had a dozen fresh and a dozen grilled. We also split the fish and chips, but we finished it before I could snap a picture... but it's always good too. Only downer moment was when I pinched the older waiter (on the arm). He had on a crawfish pinch me shirt...he didn't appreciate the pinch even though it was in good fun. My advice to him... don't wear the darn shirt then!! read more

Sad to have missed out on the snow crab boil but found heaven in those shrimp nachos!! They were delicious!! Trina our server was so nice and I hope on my next visit she's our server again!! Only disappointment was the spicy margaritas. Something was off and the manager tried several times to make it right, but we couldn't get there. His efforts were greatly appreciated!! Thanks to this duo for making an impromptu Saturday HH enjoyable!! See you next time!! read more

Went here tonight with my parents and to say the least we were disappointed. I had always seen the restaurant so packed so I convinced my parents to try it. We started with the shrimp and crab queso and it was watery and luke warm with very few pieces of shrimp or crab. The drinks from the bar were amazing and we all enjoyed our drink of choice. I then got the lobster and shrimp grilled cheese and it was not at all what I expected. It honestly wasn't good at all and threw me for a loop with the flavors. I then order a cup of gumbo instead of the grilled cheese and the amount of cumin in the gumbo was surprising. My dad got the bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops and his shrimp was served with undercooked bacon. My mom got the fish and chips and it was decent. If I ever returned here it would be for the hush puppies and the drinks but other than that I do not see myself returning. read more

I am so glad that Half Shells remains here at the Shops of Legacy. We love walking in to see Bri tending bar and ordering a cold beer with an ice cold mug. Always, so welcoming & attentive service. Fish is fresh, flavorful & varied. Food quality is obviously important in restaurants but what takes a restaurant to the next star rating is service. This is one of our reliable go-to places as we always know we'll be well satisfied. No one is above their station to step in & fill a gap. If the hostess is busy taking someone else to a table someone else will step in & quickly assist you. From the closest parking garage you walk down & around to the front door. No big deal unless you have ambulatory considerations. My last visit confirmed my belief this company values their clients & trains their people to think like loving human beings: I witnessed an elderly couple walking from the garage to wind around front to the entrance but an eagle eyed manager(?) opened up the side emergency exit door to let them in instead of making them walk the unnecessary steps. It feels like everyone that works there is aware of customers & they all take the initiative to serve. A simple touch that makes everything that much better. Clean (ocean smell, not fishy) & open airy seating. Good food but really lovely people. Thank you. read more

I have recently ventured into the world of raw oysters. The looks/texture used to gross me out (to me, it looks like someone hocked (sp?) a lugi in a shell). THIS PLACE HAS THE BEST OYSTERS IN DALLAS....but take that with a grain of salt because I'm an oyster noob. The char-grilled oysters they serve are also wonderful, lemony smoked goodness. I've had the crab cake which is also awesome. In fact, sometimes I get those and a side salad and call it a meal. Nothing I've eaten here hasn't been good...I've had the crab/shrimp boil, the blackened redfish, the crawfish boil, the crab bisque, the roasted jalapeno soup - everything has tasted great. The service here is also amazing. Each time we come here, they actually go out of their way to make us a homemade mignonette sauce to go with the oysters - I wish they would put it on the menu! They also turned me onto a new wine - 14 Hands hot to trot, it's a nice white blend with just a hint of sweetness. This place is so good, my boyfriend and I came here 3 times within a 7 day period. And we'll definitely be back! read more

Our first time to try this Half Shells seafood and bar grill restaurant by Legacy. There was quite a wait on a Sunday night. We had our Sunday family dinner here. I ordered one of their "chalkboard" menus for the day. It's called Blackened Lane Snapper with crawfish meat on a creamy New Orleans sauce with asparagus and red peppers. The snapper is marinated and crusted, lightly fried. The craw fish meat was mixed with the creamy sauce, lightly spiced and was put on top of the snapper. Underneath the fish were sautéed asparagus and red peppers. It's marvelously delicious! Servers are courteous and helpful. The Manager gave us the Oyster tacos for free. It's extremely delicious! Clean separate Men and Women's bathroom. Will be back here again, soon. read more

This place has some great appetizer! Has become my go to for the smokin hot shrimp and the crabcakes. These are some of the best crabcakes that I've eaten in the city..real meaty not all of that bread and stuff and like some places give. The shrimp have a really good Korean style sauce on them and are definitely worth checking out. If you're in the legacy area and want to grab quick bite then try here. read more

This is a great little restaurant on Legacy. They have a New feature cocktail by the name of Risky Buale '. WOW! What an awesome refresshing summr drink. Its made from Pineapple Sweet Tea Vodka from Frenchie Buale, I was so intrigued by a pineapple sweet tea vodka that was served with pinot noir as a topper I had to Google it to find our more about it. Total Wine and More @ 121 Preston Rd sells the drink in a 750ml The food is yummy especially their gumbo and catfish. Its crawfish season and lots of folks was eating the crawfish boil. Everything was very good! Service was great. Will definitely return! read more

Ordered 4 lbs of crawfish via Uber eats and it wasn't great. The quality was very inconsistent and there were a lot of old crawfish. You can definitely tell that these aren't fresh and weren't cleaned properly. $7.99/lb for dirty crawfish wasn't worth it and the nitro seasoning tasted off too. The corn and potatoes were good but going to pass on this next time read more

New spot is a huge step up from the other location as far as the patio and overall ambiance goes to an extent but the food quality definitely went down which is the reason you go in the first place. Pretty annoying cause it was a place you'd go to that may not have been the nicest on the inside but the food was always solid. Parts of the food were cold. Dishes were lacking overall. The oysters did not taste fresh, and it just overall wasn't somewhere I see myself going to again anytime soon. Maybe you'll have a better experience? 3/5 instead of 2/5 because it was a regular spot for me previously. read more

This delivered order the day after New Years was great. Their Shrimp & Crab queso is exceptional. Order arrived timely and still hot.

Came here for happy hour with a friend and ordered the strawberry margarita and honestly it tasted like it had no alcohol whatsoever in it. We were in the mood for some oysters so we ordered the chargrilled oysters that were $2 during happy hour. They weren't the best I've ever had but they weren't terrible either. I believe they were over cooked just a tad because the Parmesan was really hard. Also a few of mine were rather cold. However, our waiter was super sweet and attentive read more
