1. Terrible cold food. Food was so nasty. 2. Terrible service. 3. Food was nasty. 4. Crazy place. 5. The worst experience ever at a restaurant. 6. They did not care about US. 7. Unkind. 8. Rude Staff and SOME EVEN RUDE GUESTS. Not nice people. Very pushy. Pushed an old man down on the floor. Just left him there no help. No one here ever says excuse me. Just bumps into people while they are working. 9. I will never step my foot in there again. I will spend my money else wear. 10. Way to loud. 11. HORRIBLE EXPEREINCE. 12. We all walked in happy to the restaurant and walked out of restaurant pissed off. 13. NEVER AGAIN. 14. They did not listen to what everyone in my party order. Everything was wrong and way to cold. 15. THIS PLACE IS OVERPRICED. 16. No one person welcomed us in the restaurant. 17. Most restaurants say hello or welcome here. Nothing like that here. 18. Over one hour just waiting for our food. No wonder it was super cold. 19. 48 mins just to for a server to help our party group of us. We were so embarrassed. 20. The half shells were super dirty. 21. We saw roaches. Just scary and nasty. As we walked out the front door. WE all saw two rats were running around. 22. City of Plano should check this place out and shut it down. 23. No one using gloves. 24. Staff was eating and drinking while openly on duty working. WE in our party saw it. That is just sick. They never washed their hands afterwards. Food poison place. We are so mad. We will NEVER EVER COME BACK. We do not want anything back from you. We are so DONE. I never say hate but this time I will say hate. I hate this place NOW. Enough said! Bye rude people. This place sucks! I have nothing more to say and I do not want to even talk to you half shells ever again. Someday I will forgive you even without NO SORRY FROM YOU. read more

I had good memories eating here in 2010. Not so any more. Last night I had the calamari first. Cooked well but no seasoning in the breading. I asked the waiter if I would be happy ordering the bouillabaisse special. He said I would. No. No. No. It was a bowl of shellfish with a can of bland, unseasoned tomato sauce poured over it. I didn't expect it to be just like New Orleans, but this was far away. Need I say more? With all of the great food in Legacy in walking distance, keep on walking. Half shells is now half-baked. read more

Came here a few times for lunch, overall not a bad place. Had oysters, catfish, shrimp, it was good. None stood out particularly, but it was priced reasonably and looked pretty fresh. Overall I would return and try some of the other dishes. read more

First, and foremost: I LOVE Rudy the bartender. He's an amazing guy. He's so friendly, helpful, Makes an amazing cocktail and will leave you feeling like you're at home but spoiled like you should be when you're out. Whoever hired him needs to hire all their staff. Now, let's talk food. I wasn't impressed with my first meal I got a few weeks ago. I think some of the meals needs to be more cared for in the details. For instance, Anything with stuffed crab or topped with crab needs to be put into the oven to give it the crispness that all good fish with stuffing so deserves. However, don't fret, I'm sure they will get this under control. In the meantime, do yourself a huge favor and get the Darn Good Burger - it seriously is one of the best darn burgers and with that just skip that fried mess and get the mix of two soups. I had the crab bisque and clam chowder mixed. Eat it fast because it's so decadent and delicious the hotter it is in your tummy. I'm seriously ramping this place up to my top five places to eat but my no 1 favorite lunch spot at the moment. So delicious and it's so nice to go during the China funk. Seriously, do yourself a favor and go now! My only wish is that the barstools were a tad more comfy and if they could add a fireplace I think it would create the best atmosphere but I think that's a future dream to consider. read more

This is absolutely hands-down one of my favorite restaurants! I always love trying one of the specials from the chalkboard, and it never seems to disappoint! Even though I usually don't have any room after dinner, I find myself putting in an amazing Keylime pie! The place is pretty small but the wait staff is fabulous and cook staff etc. are on top of their game!!! We make it a point to go at least once a week, if I had the time I'd eat there 3 to 4 days a week, LOL! read more

We ordered take out yesterday, seafood platters & Po boys. Was excited given the last several reviews rated this place pretty high... Sadly, this food lacks flavor! Spices no where to be found. Catfish was just that, fried catfish, very bland. Added hot sauce didn't make it much better. Po Boy was ok ... same as above. At this point we wouldn't be back to have the same, possibly to try the oysters during happy hour. read more

Blue Moon on tap w/ wedge of orange that's been sitting out for a while, tossed the wedge pronto. 1/2 dozen of Gold Band oysters, Texas local, on the small side, but they were only $1 a pop, seems to be fresh. Grilled catfish, just a minute under cook, it was still edible, so i didn't send it back. The coleslaw was sugar and vinegar/cider, no mayo or cream, I had this style before, and I enjoyed it. The rice was moist, good flavor. The place was empty for sunday nite, at 8:30 parking was easy, but they closed earlier than advertised on website, no big deal I was done anyway. read more

Omg....I am so glad I found this place. Its located in the back of the Shops down past MiCocina on the right. It's hard to see when driving by. What brought me in was the fact they sell East Coast Oysters. As a native of Duxbury MA many of my childhood friends are the oyster farmers and they harvest some of the best oysters in the world. I was happy to find out they often times have Duxbury Oysters so I've found my new favorite seafood dining spot. If you like soups try the gumbo or seafood bisque. Both are ridiculously great. If you like things a little spicy order the smoking hot shrimp appetizer and mix it with the sausage gumbo. Amazing!!! The staff is super friendly. Akina the bartender is not only friendly she was also very knowledgeable about the seafood and the oysters......which was a pleasant surprise. The manager Spiro is also super knowledgeable and very friendly as well. I absolutely love this place! I am ur newest regular!! read more

Love this place! Great food and atmosphere! Staff is excellent! You can't go wrong with anything you order! Drinks are wonderful too!

We have been there twice since we went in the first time. The food is amazing (Fish & Chips, Shrimp Po Boy, Cod tacos). We kind of avoided this place because we are not into oysters, but after we finally went we learned they are Fish City Grill (with a different name) so that explains why they are so awesome. When we asked about a soup, the server brought us a sample of all of them! Service is very attentive, they are wearing masks and tables are separated. read more

We came in 30 mins till closing and our waitress was so nice and our food came out fast. It was our first time here and it wont be our last. I had crab stuffed flounder and my gf had a thai chili baised salmon. It was both delicious. Fresh for sure and cooked to perfection. This placed saved my night and made my gf very happy and its her new favorite seafood grille restaurant. I couldnt be happier with this place. read more

Had dinner here last night. What a great experience. The moment I walked in I had a good feeling about this place. As soon as we sat down Paul, was there to greet us and take our drink order. After perusing the menu, I decided to try the creamy Jalapeño soup. It was incredible. I mentioned to Paul, that some clams would be good in this. Next thing you know, I had a small cup of the clam chowder with mostly clams for me to put in my soup!! Really good!!!! My wife had the crab bisque and loved it as well. Got a dozen oysters and they were so fresh and tasty!!! Then I got a dozen chargrilled oysters that blew my mind!!!!! Sooooo good. I was still a little hungry and wanted some fried shrimp, but did not want the whole plate. Paul asked how many I wanted. I said 6. A few minutes later there were 6 perfectly fried shrimp in front of me. Perfect meal just happened!!!!! I highly recommend this place. I will make it a regular stop when I'm in the Frisco area!!! read more

What is going on with this restaurant? Ordered fish and chips and received 3 little fish sticks on a big white plate with a cup of slaw and 2 tiny hush puppies. No garnish, tiny portion, no flair and zero flavor. Who's managing this place? The beans and rice....what the? Gumbo?...not so much. The bartenders are awesome though...very gracious. Get someone who cares in that kitchen and whoever is writing the checks needs to send a mystery diner for feedback. read more

It was our first day in Plano and this California girl loves her seafood. So we found this gem which was in walking distance from where we were staying. We just happen to walk in on the day of bugs, brews and blues (bugs are my favorite) and let's just say they were phenomenal! The vampire seasoning is a must! You can't go wrong with butter, garlic and a little bit of spicy! My husband loved the panko crusted salmon with the sweet chili sauce and the gumbo was tasty and had great flavor. I would say it's in my top 5 of gumbo number one being my aunties of course. But, if you are in Plano I would say this is a must. Thanks for the great meal for these first timers. My family ate at this new location on Feb 18, 2023, and we were very disappointed in the food. To start we ordered the crab cake and smokin' hot shrimp and we all ordered a cup of soup. I had the roasted jalapeño soup, but the cups were so tiny that I might have had a better taste if it was a little bit more. Good thing they had crackers at the table to fill up on. The crab cake was mushy and had a fish smell. Again it was such a small crab cake that we all just got one little bite. Very disappointing! My husband and son ate the smokin' hot shrimp; they said it was good, but they'll eat anything. When our orders came. My French fries were cold. And I don't mean just warm. They were cold and hard. Almost stale feeling. My fish city sandwich was burned on the bottom so it was hard. It was difficult to eat. I had to pick the top of the fish to eat the unburned part. My son and husband had the shrimp po' boy and crispy chicken sandwich. They said it was good but again, they'll eat anything. Unless you want small sample size portions. I wouldn't waste my time. Very disappointing. read more

It's a cute little place in Legacy West! Took me back to NOLA! They have a happy hour during the weekdays with $1 and $2 oysters! When we walked in, we were brought a welcome wagon with different soups (loved all of them) and the fried oyster nachos, which were AMAZING. HIGHLY recommend you try them! Love that they do this complimentary sampler! Definitely makes them standout! Also ordered the chargrilled oysters because I personally have never been a big fan of raw oysters, these lemon pepper babies definitely do not disappoint! read more

Went today with family! Server Catherine was fantastic! Very helpful and knowledgeable about menu. She gave great suggestions. Food came out fast and looked great! Food tasted very good also. Kids loved their peel and eat shrimp and hamburger meals. The calamari was so good we got a second order. Wife had crab bisque and enjoyed it very much! I had the gumbo and it was extremely good. The roux was better than anything else I have tried in town. The place is smaller than it looked so I would imagine if it were crowded it might be a little much to deal with. Good place for date night and it was family friendly! We will return soon! read more

I haven't been to this little gem in years! My hubby and I decided to go Friday evening because we were in the mood for boiled crawfish. However, when we arrived and looked at the menu we had a change of mind!!! Before 6pm they have HH $1 gulf oysters $2 east coast.. that is where we started!!!! The east coast oysters were fresh and sweet! My fav.! We decided on a cup of chicken, sausage and shrimp gumbo to share! The rich dark roux was fabulous! We moved on to shrimp and grits and fire hot shrimp! My hubby really like the fire hot shrimp and I enjoyed the shrimp and grits. The only thing I would like different is to not put whole slices of onion and bell pepper on top it was too much! The taste of the dish was good overall! We took a slice of key lime pie home!!! It was rich and creamy just as it should be!! Looking forward to my next visit read more

My waiter last night was obviously very annoyed when I pointed out that one of the dishes I ordered was prepared improperly. Now, I can understand how he could have been tired and frustrated at the end of a long shift. I was polite and gave him a generous tip. Ate here on a busy Friday night, it took us about 20min to be seated, which was great for a Friday!! Once seated the specials for the day was read to us cause we were next to the huge chalk board totally acceptable. Service was great, food even greater. We were able to sample there famous oyster nachos and all of there soups. Ordered the nachos...love, loved the flavor... it all was fresh! Husband had the old bay dusted scallops with spinach risotto and spring salad and I had the barrraumdi(sea bass like) with risotto and asparagus. Everything was sooooo yummy!!!! Mediocre, over-priced food and sub-par service. Won't be returning.

Just went to Half Shells for dinner last week. Had their famous oyster nachos which have a unique flavor and are a favorite of mine. There are 6 nachos with a fried oyster, special sauce and pico de gallo on top. The flavor combination is amazing. We also had a cup of the red beans and rice which has a nice smoky, yummy flavor -and the rice is cooked perfectly. In addition, my husband had a cup of the clam chowder - they have the chowder down perfectly. We also had the herbed cod, with a blue crab topping. I didn't taste a lot of crab, but the cod was delicious. So nice to have cod that's not fried, it really is a delicious fish. The bar is a good size, and the service is quick. Parking is tough, but there is a valet service just out front, which is well worth it to use. Make sure to stop in to Half Shells, you will be glad you did. read more

Day made for sure!! I returned to half shells after it has been over 5 months since I've been last. Server Sean recognized me right away and welcomed me with a warm "welcome back" greeting. I ordered my favorite dynamite shrimp appetizer and a cup of the crab bisque, and it was phenomenal as always! (Which is why I order it, every single time) not only did Sean deliver exceptional service but he anticipated my needs before I could ask him. To top it off, I told him how much this is my favorite lunch place and I try to come when I can, he went above and beyond for me and gave me two free appetizer cards. The feeling you get when you have had a great meal and even better customer service... just can't be beat. Love this restaurant because you can tell the employees have great character. Love love love. read more

We came in here recently just for the fresh oysters. They had quite a variety, especially from Prince Edward Island and Massachusetts. This is hard to find in the area because most places just have blue point which is boring. I ordered half a dozen just for me. They don't automatically serve with mignonette, you have to ask for it. The shucking needs some work because the meat wasn't completely free and I did get some bits of shells in my mouth. The oysters tasted great and service was prompt. We had Prosecco and Chardonnay, both tasted great. We will come back and put this place in our seafood rotation. read more
