Always come for lunch and order the same thing; 3 each of the four types of baked and grilled the offer. Bienville ( toppped with crab, shrimp and cheese) bring my favorite. I feel deprived if don't have the others. So the oysters are 5 star and I can't vouch for anything else. read more

The service was very good. The menu was very diverse, but not matching the online items, there was no salmon available on the menu. The shrimp and grits were excellent. The steak and shrimp were also very good. The steak was slightly over cooked for medium but it was tender and still flavorful. We will definitely return to sample other items on the menu. read more

Hotel staff recommended this place because of the seafood. Specifically, the oysters. I'm not a fan of oysters however, they said they had plenty of seafood options. I was looking for salmon. Pics showed salmon so I was gone with that. Went to the establishment, reviewed the menu...no salmon. Asked the hostess, he said they no longer sell salmon. Bummer. Running out of time and it's getting late so I just decided to order something. Decided on the chicken Alfredo with Cajun Alfredo sauce with a side of asparagus with Gorgonzola cheese butter, and crab cakes. The pasta was cool. Didn't understand the Cajun part of it because I didn't taste it. They forgot the garlic bread so I had to ask for it. 3 small pieces of bread. Asparagus was good. Cheese butter gave it a kick. Crab cakes were just alright. Safe to say, the name of the establishment is what is the winner here. Since I don't eat oysters, I won't be back. Customer service was nice tho. This was a great choice, the Oyster Sample gave us a sample of each specialty oyster and every one was delicious. We could t decide between the appetizers because every dish that passed up made us change our minds. We are at the Mobile location, I can't wait to try out the Gulfport and Biloxi location to see if the lobsters tail are just as delectable!!! I ordered the grilled catfish and they tried to serve me the smallest catfish I have ever seen. I mean I've see goldfish bigger than these fillets. I sent them back and the waiter had an attitude about it. Others in my party had already gotten their food so I ordered something else. Normally I would have just left. Ate here twice as I have traveled though Mobile in January 2024. It's one of the better restaurants I've found in Mobile. Staff has been great on both visits. I give the Royal Redfish a B+. The Caesars salad was mediocre. On second visit I had house salad and seafood gumbo. Both were good. Ambience is good. Nice bar. Half shell = Full flavor !! When this close to the gulf one must have sone gulf oysters. I have had oysters all over but the Orleans Oysters are some of the best I ever had !! The gumbo was full of flavor and the right amount of kick. Along with solid good the service was great !! This spot is off the water and not down town but worth the stop. read more

Two of us came in for a later dinner. We were promptly seated and waited on in a timely manner. We ordered the oyster sampler, crab claws, and the seafood pasta. The oyster sampler came out with 3 oysters each of 4 different types of oysters, all cooked with sauces. I personally prefer raw oysters, but decided to try for these because of all the reviews. The first oyster of each of the four types went down well, and was pleasant. However, the second round, I started to quickly notice the heaviness of the oysters. If you're not used to heavy butter/cheese/cream, these oysters may bit a bit of a surprise. My favorite was the rockerfeller, followed by bienville, as these were the lesser on the heavy side. The crab claws, we ordered New Orleans style and came out next and were plentiful in quantity. However, these were a bit too salty and overly buttered for me. The seafood pasta came last. The seafood amount was very plentiful of crawfish, shrimp, portabella mushrooms, and lump crabmeat. The sauce wasn't as heavy as the rest of the food, nor too salty, which I liked. I wasn't a huge fan of the gulf shrimp. As opposed to the shrimp I was used to, gulf shrimp weren't as crispy and more 'meaty'. Perhaps they are supposed to be this way. The portabella was my favorite, as it wasn't overly cooked, nor was it undercooked. Full of flavor with good texture. The lump crab was good in flavor as well, but I would have preferred it separate from the pasta. The crawfish was great, second to the mushrooms. Only thing is there were some shells in the pasta. Based on the other reviews, this place is an excellent establishment. Unfortunately, I wasn't too keen on the heaviness of the food. If you're all for it, then this is definitely an awesome place for you! read more

I could have had a full plate of the okra. My boyfriend had a half dozen, 3 and 3, charbroiled and the orleans. Orleans for the clear win between the two. Cajun sauce had really good flavor. Charbroiled didn't have as much flavor. They also provided a baguette to sop up all the extra oyster juices/seasonings. The waitress was kind enough to allow him to do a 3 and 3 split. Server (Brooke) was nice in not only my section but the server in the one beside it too!! I visit Mobile often for work. I usually stay near Airport Boulevard and have noticed this place several times and never stopped in. Believe, me when I say, I'll be back here at least once every trip I take from now on! The bartenders are amazing: Gabi, Jackson, and Ryan! You all really made me feel at home! The atmosphere is great and I event got to meet a few locals to give me some advice on what to do with my weekend in town! This is a true gem in Mobile and I'll be sure to visit again soon! Wow! This place is amazing! I stopped in on a Friday afternoon during Happy Hour for a few drinks and a nice dinner before the rush came. I started out with half a dozen chargrilled oysters. They were pretty good. My meal consisted of grilled Redfish Orleans, grilled Asparagus, and Sweet Potato Crème brûlée. It was amazing! Great blackened snapper with well prepared broccoli. The stew was great. A lot of shrimp and a good rue hard flavor.

I was puzzled walking in because this establishment did not match the reviews. I had in my mind that it was more upscale but no, it is a down home place, with friendly servers. The dark decor and music (nightclub/saxophone) reminded me of a 1930's Speakeasy! I liked it! One can't go to an oyster house without trying the oysters. But only two of our group of four like the bi-valves so we tried a variety of menu items. There is plenty to choose from. The raw oysters were small but fresh and satisfying. But the dozen variety of bienville, rockefeller, and steamed, not so much. The toppings are two salty and overpower the oysters. We also tried gumbo (had better), two redfish dishes (very good), fried crab claws (pretty good), and red shrimp (oh so sweet). We brought dessert home -- bananas foster cheesecake (good) and bread pudding (sorry but awful). Bread cubes were hard and the sauce was scant. I'm going to try to post pictures .... Out and about with Mrs Pug on a late Sunday afternoon. Decided on an early dinner. Short wait, about 15-20 mins to be seated. Nice atmosphere and good waitress, suggested the snapper that the Mrs ordered. From the oyster app to the chocolate cake it was all good. The fire grilled oysters stood out as our favorite. We both thought the redfish Orleans was the better of the two tasty dinners. My first time to visit and I am sure it won't be my last. Recommend for a nice comfortable relaxed meal. read more
