We drive to Mobile every six months to get our LEXUS serviced, and always look for a place for lunch. Our query for a seafood restaurant led us here, and at first glance almost decided to leave. The seating was minimal and we had to walk up to the counter to order. While waiting, we realized it is primarily a seafood market and take-out orders for cooked food were the main business. But the reviews were great, so we gave it a try. We were amazed at the quality and quantity of food we got. An order of crab claws and shrimp came with over 40 claws and about ten shrimp, all fried to perfection with the best tasting breading ever! The atmosphere was like old time New Orleans, on the wrong side of the tracks. But relax your snobbish standards a bit, and enjoy your seafood the way it is meant to be served! read more

The food was amazing! When you walk in you wouldn't think the food would be this amazing. It just seems like a fresh seafood market but off to the side you can order your food. We walked in and there were many people sitting and waiting and I didn't know what was going on, but once I got my food and tasted it...it is completely worth the wait!!!! We orders a variety of things, oyster, shrimp, fish, crab and fries, fried okra, hush puppies.... Omg!!! Everything was amazing!!! I am so so happy we stop by this place on our cross country trip. Service was quick for a Sunday afternoon! The shrimp poboy is stuffed full of shrimp and I notice they add lemon juice after then shrimp are fried which makes a perfect bite with some hot sauce and ketchup! The place was very clean , and seemed to be well kept by the staff! The poboy was 20 bucks , and they put more shrimp on it than 1 could eat in a sitting! They also will fry up a fresh fish for you for an extra couple bucks if you ask for it, Recommend sharing your food with someone if possible! The shrimp were cooked perfectly , not a single complaint about this place, amazing! EDIT: I realized that they don't use lemon and that I had put hot lemon pepper sauce on my poboy from Papa John's , let's just say it added just the right amount of zest to the sandwich , maybe something they could add themselves! read more

This seafood market has very good and quick service. The employees are pleasant always. There are tables there if you want to dine in a high traffic order and wait area. I had the oyster dinner with onion rings and okra Delicious! Fried perfectly. The others in my party ordered catfish dinner. Plentiful and delicious and steamed shrimp it was good but they really wanted a shrimp snow crab combo but it's not an option so it was a little disappointing. The Seafood House is a great option if you are in Mobile, Alabama and craving a po' boy. As I walked in and saw that it was more a fish shop that sold hot food options, I was all the more eager to try this place. A po' boy is nothing fancy and I appreciate enjoying a po' boy in a more humble ambiance just makes it all the better. The ordering procedure is pretty standard. You walk up to the counter and order. When it is done, they call out your number. If you choose to eat it in here, you just take it to one oglf the older booths against the wall. The young lady that took my order was friendly and my food was ready in a relatively quick amount of time. I had the shrimp po' boy and it was very good and was decently priced. My only complaint is that they charge a "service charge" of three and a half percent if you use a credit cats and make no mention of it. At least let us know. read more

I ordered catfish and asked is it really catfish. The answer was Japanese catfish swai. I didn't want swai so was told I could upgrade for a $4.00 to red snapper so I did. What I didn't realize was the 4$ up charge was for each piece of fish. So 2 fish dinners w the upgrade was $46.00. Maybe it's just me but $16.00 extra for upgrade seemed a bit much!! Good customer service and great food. Today I got a half of a shrimp poboy fully dressed that included mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion. My side was fries. This was $11.39. Really glad I only got half since it is just me. Food was cooked to order and the shrimp are seasoned really well. Definitely recommend. read more

Don't be fooled by the name. I knew it was also a fresh market, but I was thinking it might be more of a divided market and restaurant. I'll admit: I buzzed through a few food pics but didn't seem to pick up on the actual building. That said, I don't regret going the The Seafood House. It's a relatively small building with colorful paintings on the front windows. I knew before we walked in I had misjudged. It is more seafood market than restaurant. They obviously do a good business as it was busy even for an early dinner. You're greeted at the door by a ticket machine if there's a line for the fresh food. To the left there's an order counter for food. There are several tables that have seen better days across the front, and you can sit and watch TV while you wait for your food or eat. I get the impression most food is take out instead of dine in. The food itself is pretty good. You get a generous amount in the po boy. You get a half sandwich and side for $6.99 which is a nice price. The fried shrimp plate is also generous and came with two sides. My table mate got the corn but thought it tasted a bit mushy. It was presumably cooked in the boil so it did look maybe a bit oversaturated. However, it was an overall good meal for the only before hitting the road. read more

What a great lunch ! We were heading from our old home in Newnan Georgia to our new home outside of Houston Texas and Yelped up some awesome food. Just a bit off of I-65 was easy to get to. The batters were different from the catfish and the shrimp and Borge were excellent. I think that was the best light batter on shrimp I've ever had! The cashiers were super nice. Decided to eat at The Seafood House while working in the Mobile area during the week. It had great reviews and the pictures looked awesome. I had to try it, right? The restaurant shares itself with a seafood market with fresh catches of the day offered daily. I decided to order Crab Cakes and paired it with fried Shrimp and Oysters with Corn on the Cob and Cold Slaw. I noticed that most people order their orders to go, but they do have several tables for eating in house. Nothing fancy, just a few tables along the front windows. The Crab Cake was pretty good. The Shrimp and Oysters were good, too. Not crazy about the packaged tartar, but the Cake sauce was home made and pretty good. All in all, it was pretty good. read more

I come to Mobile for work often and always on the go. This place is perfect to grab Cajun Crawfish, Crab Claws, Fried Fish, oysters ,Lobster Tails, Soft Shell Crab even turkeys necks. The Cajun crawfish had a nice kick and was FRESH. The salad was light and tasty with ranch dressing. Everything had a good seasoning flavor. They have fresh seafood as well for your at home culinary skills. No real dining area that I would dine in at, but noticed plenty of to go orders ready for pick up. "They must be doing something right", folks were making sure they come and get what The Seafood House cooking up. We visit here every year when we go to Mobile. We live in California and cannot get good food like this where we live. In fact, we are going to be moving to Alabama and not gonna lie, the fact that this restaurant is so good and will be within driving distance of us is one of the factors....lol yes it's that good. Top notch. +Deep fried soft shell crab - first time having this, it was great! Loved the claws especially. Lots of meat in the center too. Breading was so tasty, reminiscent of KFC to me (a compliment in my books). +Seafood house fries - I could LIVE IN THESE. Fries were so soft inside, and perfectly crisp on the outside.
