For a single catfish plate - I was charged $27. We usually BOTH eat lunch for $30-$35. (We dine out almost daily.) We decided to eat at Cafe Acadiana for lunch last week. Wasn't sure what to expect since we live in Fairhope where quality restaurants abound. But we had heard great things and Cajun Cuisine is my favorite. The inside is more like an old school, diner type of atmosphere and decor. But the food wasn't....holy cow. I ordered the Seafood Gumbo and Flounder Ponchartrain and both dishes were amazing. The Flounder was breaded and cooked to perfection, and the Gumbo is authentic Louisiana style brown roux and it was loaded with delicious seafood. The Shrimp and Crawfish Cream Sauce is amazing and with the light breading on the Flounder, made for a superior dining experience. Our first time here & we were extremely pleased! Between the two of us we ordered the fried catfish lunch special with okra as the side, and a shrimp appetizer that was tossed in their sweet chili sauce and onion rings. Everything was excellent!! don't forget to check the specials as you enter the door! i had the flounder creole green beans and jambalaya . it was absolutely one of the best meals i have had in the area. he had the crawfish etouffee with green beans and said it was delicious. located in an old house the interior is rather simple but you aren't in for a long relaxing experience, there's no bar. service is fast and efficient. a FANTASTIC meal, the type of place you get in and out. read more

Its a little bit tight seating during there peek business hours. But manageable. The food is OUTSTANDING. We go every chance we get when we are in town. The staff is friendly and eager to please. We've enjoyed lunch here several times over a couple of years. Simply put, it is the best Cajun food in Coastal Alabama. Everything is delicious but the crab cakes are the best I've ever eaten by far. The staff are efficient and extra friendly. Today we shared a single crab cake as a starter followed by the lunch specials. Prices are reasonable. We had a 5 minute wait for a table. The owner is everywhere greeting guests and visiting with the many regulars while making sure everything is getting done. We very highly recommend this small piece of culinary heaven. read more

What a delicious hidden gem! When you walk into this restaurant, you feel like you're walking into a Southern Grandma's home. All of the staff are friendly, welcoming, and make you feel like you are family. The food here is down-home traditional southern, and the best that I have found. As an appetizer, we had Gator Bites. The alligator was well seasoned, and fried beautifully. For my main course, I had the Make Your Own Combo with fried catfish, fried crawfish, fried shrimp, and crawfish étouffée. For my sides I chose fried okra and hush puppies. All of the meals come with complementary coleslaw. The coleslaw was light and refreshing, well-balanced, and perfectly seasoned. This meal was the perfect southern meal. Each bite left me doing a food happy dance! Every item was lightly breaded and seasoned with tons of flavor. The fish was light and flaky. The house-made sauces complemented everything dipped in them. This will now be my go-to spot for lunch AND dinner. I can't wait for my next visit! read more

So we were looking at the menu and laughing about whom would order the Beaudreaux cream sauce as an appetizer. Then we had it. The service was very polite and quick. My wife had the blackened chicken and stuffed potato. Both were amazing. Moist juicy chicken and she said the stuffed potato is the best she ever had. I had the beaudreaux burrito with red beans and rice and it was amazing. This place is crazy good. Made us question moving to Alabama so we can eat here more often. 10 stars out of 5 read more

We come as a group monthly on Wednesday evenings. Food is always good. Service could be a little better with also the option to get coffee with our pie. The server always says they have none. I agreed to return as it was my wife's birthday, and she really wanted the Crabmeat Au-gratin as very few places, it seems, have that on a menu. She really enjoyed it and the Shrimp Opelousas. I did NOT order the Hamburger Steak.. LOL, but ordered the choose 3 and the shrimp were very good, the Flounder Filet was cooked perfectly but the Seafood Gumbo was disappointing. A dark roux can be a little bitter, but this bordered on burned and there weren't any discernable trinity or crawfish apparent visually or via taste. The popcorn shrimp had little taste as did the lack of seasoning in the gumbo. We will return and I will skip both the Gumbo and the Hamburger Steak and get more flounder! read more

We met our daughter and son-in-law at Cafe Acadiana, at their suggestion, and we are so glad we did! We started off with a couple of appetizers - shrimp gumbo and the fried boudin balls. Both were outstanding! The gumbo was very flavorful without being too strong. The boudin balls were delicious and the dipping sauce made them even better. The entres came out soon after the appetizers and were delicious as well. I ahd the Flounder Pontchartrain and it was amazing. The flounder was fried perfectly and it was topped with a shrimp and crawfish cream sauce that as so good! Everyone enjoyed their entre as much as I did - excellent! The only minor issue was the size of the table - we were a little cramped with 4 adults and a baby in a highchair at the table. Certainly not something that would prevent us from going there the next time we are in town, but it was a negative. The service was excellent, food came out at a great pace and we really enjoyed our time there. It is definitely in the rotation for future visits. Highly recommended! read more

The grand daughter of their in house recipe sausage shared with us her story regarding his recipe. We did a combo of the 4 and 2 item combo meals. Seemed the best way to try the many entrees they have here. We ordered the following: fried shrimp, shrimp Opelousas, Bordeaux's sauce, crawfish étouffée, fried crawfish, crabmeat au gratin. Sides were onion rings and fried okra. The meal started with a pair of saltine crackers and a mayonnaise based coleslaw. Tasty and not overly sweet or sour. Well balanced with the seasoning. How to pick the best tasting item, no damn clue. Honestly one of the best meals I've eaten anywhere in world up to this point. I truly am having a difficult time deciding the best. I'd say the in house sweet and spicy sauce for the shrimp Opelousas will make shower shoe edible! The food seasoning is spot on and amazing. Assumed it was going to be overly spicy but the spicing is more of a warm tongue tantalizing blend and finished at the back of the tongue with a little heat. Everything we ate was delicious- Boudin balls, shrimp opelousa, Boudreaux's sauce, flounder, and crawfish platter. The Boudreaux's sauce was so delicious, and the etouffee was well prepared. So this was my first lunch trip. Saturday lunch with the family. About 11:30 we just beat a crowd of people and was seated immediately. We started with boudin balls, which are outstanding. Everything was fresh and delicious. My daughter asked if she could have chicken Pontchartrain with blackened chicken. They obliged and that was very good. My daughter does not eat fish and the chicken was great with that crawfish and shrimp sauce. That's a new hit for us, the etouffee was fresh and probably the best I have had in years. The red beans and rice are a very tasty side item. But today the "other" side was green beans. They were without a doubt the best green beans I have ever had. They were well seasoned and fresh. Cafe Acadiana is a little off the beaten path but it was well worth the drive. My wife and I went there recently for a late lunch. The lunch menu is a bit limited compared to the dinner menu but there were still plenty of choices. Everything we tried was delicious. The chef obviously has the touch with seafood. Perfectly prepared and everything we had tasted super fresh. The flounder Ponchatrain was crazy good. The cajun cream sauce smothering the fish was the best we have ever had. The shrimp Opelousas was equally good, as were the boudin balls. Sides were great. One note..they do not serve alcohol although they said we were welcome to bring our own next time.
