Fantastic food, good prices, consistently good service. The tables could be a little cleaner sometimes and occasionally the food quality dips a little but it's always still solid. This is what you would expect from a diner. The food is decent, the gumbo is good. However, my experience regarding the service here, is consistently average to below average each visit. The waitresses only appear to smile when in a corner talking amongst themselves. Our waitress very forgetful, numerous trips to many tables around us and nearly every trip forgetting something. Tonight we started with gumbo that was tasty as always. She had the grilled chicken salad and I had the cheeseburger and fries. It was diner quality food as suggested above. Amazing find. Went to another restaurant and left because the waiter came to our table and ended up here. Party off 7 and everyone really enjoyed their food. I had the meat and 3 and it was to much food. Kennedy was an amazing waitress as well. read more

We went here for a quick dinner. Staff were friendly and attentive so no issue there. It was the food. I got the 4 vegetable plate. If you like salty food this is the place for you. The green beans were almost inedible from all the salt, black eyed peas the same, okra was cold and the mashed potatoes were oddly sweet. I didn't like that. My husband ordered vegetable beef soup. It did not have any beef. It actually looked like canned Cambells soup heated up and poured in a bowl. Honestly none of it looked homemade. It definitely was all canned. Really cute old style diner, great for families or when you craving home style food but don't have time to make it from scratch. Our group had a little of everything including fried oysters, fish almondine, shrimp po boy, veggie plate and milkshakes. The seafood was all fresh and cooked perfectly. The salads were generous and the fries hot and crispy. The fried okra, mac and cheese and coleslaw were some of the best I have had. Save room for the milkshakes! Rich and creamy and delicious! My wife and I went out for lunch here today, I decided to surprise her with it because it was somewhere she's never been. Now, I love diners with that 50s look and feel, it just seems more homey than the normal places. When we entered, we were warmly greeted and quickly seated by the courteous staff. After spending some time looking over the menu, we both settled on the small blue plate lunch, with my wife choosing the chopped sirloin, and me choosing the roast beef as our meats. She said that hers was great, while the roast beef I had was a little dry, but the portion was more than generous. Now, the sides were absolutely fantastic, we both had green beans and cornbread, while I had the mashed potatoes, and she had the French fries. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and quite filling. Just enjoyed another great meal. My Mom worked with the head chef who was very instrumental in the BTD to be where it is today. They both worked at Constatines from the 50s until it closed. I had the fish almondine while Mom went with chopped sirloin with grilled onions. Both excellent choices and prepared to perfection. Not many places serve the fish almondine but BTD does to perfection. All the vegs are good with mac and cheese and fried okrs as some of their best. The food is fantastic and the service is fast and so polite! The restaurant has a cute 1960s vibe and it's not too big or too small. The Mac N Cheese Noodles are over cooked, mushy, and taste reheated. The waiter forgot my cornbread. The greens were great, my Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich was good. My sister had no complaints with her food. I asked to add a To Go order onto our dine in order for my husband. We got our bill, no To Go Order. I waited and waited at the table, it never came. I went to the counter, they had no record of my To Go order, so I ordered it there at the counter, then waited ten minutes in the lobby while my sister waited in the car. I paid $65 for three meals, I don't think the food was worth the price. I don't know, we came on a Saturday, it was busy. All the staff were super sweet, young, with good Southern manners. my family have been coming here for 20+ years and the food is just not the same. everything is incredibly salty. the roast, the gravy, the mashed potato, the turnip, the steak, the beans, I mean everything. got a club thinking nothing could go wrong with that but it was the driest sandwich and it was so hard it cut my gums and mouth all over. One should be very specific about their curbside order cause you will get it. With mask on and hungry folks in the car waiting to eat, I looked about to get a lay of the land. Some people dining while maintaining distance. Others, waiting in the car as they utilize curbside service. It was cool and from what I could see, very efficient and safe.
