I live near Kravers and eat there occasionally. It's convenient, reasonably priced and the service is always good. Their menu is very limited so if you eat there regularly you've tried everything on the menu. Went the other day and got a small oyster basket. I think it was $12.95. I asked the server the price (The menu just said Market) and how many oysters you get on a small basket. She said usually it's 5 or 6. When they brought it out there were 4 oysters in the basket and they were only medium size. When I asked about the quantity she said, "Well they weigh them so that's what they go by." Oh well, the oysters and sides were ok but I left hungry and a little disappointed. read more

Best seafood in West Mobile. I love their gumbo and fried shrimp. This is one of our favorites.

I was so excited to finally try the fried shrimp here but left feeling less than cared for. It's a pretty restaurant and my server was nice and helpful, but undercooked crinkle fries and see through breading is not what a coastal seafood restaurant should offer. 3/10 and not returning. This place is just another fried seafood restaurant. We ordered the crab legs (market price-$50), some fried crawfish tails, fried oysters (they don't offer on the half shell) and boiled shrimp. All items were good, but the crab legs were nibble size. The gumbo was pretty average and the texture of the gumbo meat was a little off putting. Our waitress told us the only thing she eats there is the chicken ...so the seafood is not good enough to change the mind of a seafood skeptic. If you are looking to have sea food but some people in your party don't like seafood, this restaurant would be a good choice. If you're looking for real seafood, paper on the tables, etc., this place is not it. read more

Great find, not too expensive and a good size parking lot, big plates and the place turns tables pretty fast. Very busy on Friday night at 6:00 PM. We ordered drinks a.d our very friendly waitress Brook took great care of us throughout our visit. We both started with gumbo with some hot sauce and it was tasty. Next she had the stuffed crab basket with fries and hush puppies, I had the special blackened shrimp and grits. Both meals were tasty and hot. I could not finish my meal as I was full and saving room. We then ordered the King cake cheesecake to go, very good. All in all a good value for the service and fod we received. Decided to give Kravers another try after seeing their shrimp stuffed potato posted as one of their specials on Facebook. We were seated immediately and Demarcus was our server. He was very nice and polite and helpful during our visit. The restaurant is bright and clean with a great atmosphere. I was very happy I ordered that potato and will go back for it again. The seasoning on the shrimp was perfect and helped with seasoning the potato so I didn't have to add additional salt. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the chicken on my husband's grilled chicken salad was very dry. read more

Took over an hour to get seated and then 25 more minutes to get beverages. In the past, the gumbo has been decent and loaded with shrimp. Today's had no shrimp and tasted like Campbell's chicken gumbo from a can. My draft beer cost $6.60. That's crazy. My seafood platter was mostly under cooked fish and fries. It had 3 oysters and 4 shrimp and cost $32.00. We had crab claws that were small and cold for $50.00. Total check was over $1000. Server was ok but slow. I won't be going back. The food here is always amazing. I always start with a cup of gumbo because I think it tastes great. I always order the fried seafood platter that way I get to sample everything. The wife likes scallops blackened with shrimp. My Daughter had some of the royal red shrimp and I've never tried them but let me tell you I will get some of them next time they were delicious jumbo shrimp. We had a party of 15 because my dad in-law 92 birthday dinner and we had one waitress and I'm going to tell you she was amazing. Recommended by my daughter who has been living here in Mobile the last 3 years, Kravers was a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Located about 10 minutes from South Alabama campus, Kravers takes up a large portion of an outdoor commercial area. It was dark and I didn't see any outdoor seating, but the building looked huge with ample parking. Upon entering, my suspicions were confirmed. The restaurant is indeed spacious and very open. They have a large private dining room that can be closed off. The rest of the restaurant looked like it had 3 separated sections all with booths and tables. Walls were simply decorated with large "seafood" items hanging from the ceiling. Brightly lit with nice atmosphere, Kravers had a couple of large tvs to distract you from your conversations. We arrived around 7 on a Friday night to a modestly busy clientele. We were seated immediately to our table complete with a miniature pirogue that held the hot sauce and squeeze bottles of tartar and cocktail sauces. Our server arrived almost immediately and took our drink orders. Their menu has the usual compliment of seafood dishes including poboys and gumbo. Tammy did try the shrimp poboy. She was very impressed with the amount of fried shrimp that was overflowing out of the french bread. The fry on the shrimp were spot on. It was complete with lettuce and a fresh tomato. However it wasn't traditional gambino bread and the french bread they did use could've been toasted for that little bit of crunch on the outside... well at least that's how I like it. Rachel sampled the crab cakes and received 2 perfectly browned crab cakes. If there's one thing Kravers should be known for, it's frying. I ordered the Seafood platter. It's only made fried with no substitutions with shrimp, oysters, crab claws, sutchi and stuffed crab. Served on a bed of crinkle fries, I received a literal mountain of food! Shrimp: fried golden brown with tail on... yom yom yom Oysters: a tad over fried, too much batter Crab claws: a very generous portion, fried perfectly Sutchi: a variety of fish, also battered and fried nicely Stuffed crab: I found the stuffing a bit bland and dry This platter will easily meet one's daily caloric intake. The amount of batter and oil also won't be on the top of anyone's most healthy option list, but the food was freshly cooked and temperature was spot on. I would've preferred catfish in my platter, but the menu specifically states "no substitutions". Speaking of catfish, Sam polished off his catfish basket before I could finish squeezing the tartar sauce into my basket! Tammy's fried (of course) okra was very good. The okra was fresh and bright green under the batter! My seafood gumbo was not the best I've ever had, but it had great flavor. The coleslaw was also made fresh and spot on. If you make it a habit to ask locals for their recommendations in towns that you visit you will almost always get pointed the right direction. When you ask several locals where to go and they all point you in a particular direction you know that you have found a place you have to try. On a recent trip town that is exactly how this place was brought up to me. There's nothing fancy here but as is the case so often Simplicity is a good thing. As had been recommended to me I got the shrimp and crab basket all fried which is pretty typical of the menu here and all delicious!
