Courteous staff. Prompt service. Food is good quality and arrived at my table hot. Kinda pricey for the area. Good place for business lunches or dinners. read more

Our waitress, Hannah, and her recommendations were ON point! Ahhhhhhhhhhmazing!!!!!!!!

Love this place. Missy has to be hands down the best waitress ever!! The food was delicious and the drinks was Bussin!!

We went back! Ordered our food to go. It wasn't as great as last time when we ate inside. I had the oyster sampler which was salty. The lobster, crab corn bisque was Splendid. It had nice chunks of meat and corn that added a great texture. I also had The cinnamon roll bread pudding. Yummy. read more

The food and service was excellent I had grilled oysters and my wife ordered raw. They were both excellent as we shared each other's order. For the main course I had the grilled tuna it was cooked perfectly. My wife had the grilled sea food platter and said it was very good. It is now on our list of favorite restaurants. read more

The Orleans crab claws are awesome!! I loved the seasoning used on them. I also got the Pink Pearl Martini. It's my go-to drink at Half Shell! read more

After traveling from Mississippi headed down towards the beach, I saw Mobile had my favorite restaurant on my Yelp App! Reading the negative reviews almost deterred me, but I decided that it was best if I formed my own opinion! So glad I didn't let the negative nancies trick me out of a delicious meal tonight! From my Voo-doo shrimp, then my half-dozen char grilled oysters, to my seafood pasta with sweet potato brûlée, this meal was the absolute bomb!! Staff was nothing like the reviews I read and our sever Hannah was awesome!! Super tentive and amazing personality!! Must visit when in the Mobile, AL area. read more

It was a very busy night. We had to wait 45 minutes and were seated in two different rooms. Party of 10. We received our appetizers in a timely matter but our entrees were extremely late. Once we got them the food was fabulous. I had the grilled asparagus with Gorgonzola butter and the red potatoes with Parmesan. The Fried shrimp was tender and tasty! read more

Excellent sea food for a great price. Stopped here on the way from Atlanta to New Orleans; easy stop off the highway. The seafood pasta lunch special was a great deal and delicious. read more

So I'm normally a raw oysters kind of guy. Horseradish and Tabasco and I'm set. Was in Mobile on business and on the advice of my client, came here. No oysters of the raw variety on offer so had the sampler of cooked ones. OMG. My heart may still be recovering but the meal was ridiculous. So good. Nice wine and cocktail list too. Service responsive and friendly. read more

As a girl plucked from Florida and now living in the desert of West Texas, I sure do miss Oyster Rockefeller. So, on a business trip to the Gulf, had to find the best place around. The Half Shell did an excellent job. They were delicious and the oysters were cooked to perfection. Yum! The service was excellent as well. I will hopefully be back soon. read more

Delicious dinner. No wait at 6:45 but filled up quickly after us. Had the yellowfin dip and voodoo shrimp apps. Both delicious. For entrees, the oysters and surf and turf were both delicious. My sons steak was under cooked (rare not medium). They took it back to bring it up and it came back...under cooked (med-rare not medium). Third time they got it right - cooked perfectly but by then, the rest of us were done eating. They apologized. For three of us the bill was $150. That included two drinks for hubby and I. Our server Tori was phenomenal. She was kind, had great suggestions and handled the mishaps with professionalism. Food was delicious overall. Service great overall. Only downside was the steak issue. read more

A picture is worth a million words, that's why I posted the pictures of my 3 plates. I was a little surprised by the great reviews and pictures and what I saw. I'm new to the area so I was following my directions closely. I came off the highway and turned into the lot where Baby's r us was I looked all around and was surprised that this restaurant was in a strip mall. I took a seat at the bar and was greeted by two men shucking oysters. I met my waiter/bartender, Tyler. It was a nice touch that he left his name on a little tent card which had pictures of the food and had my order written on the back. I ordered fish and grilled asparagus with a salad. The salad came out first and was fresh however; I should have asked for the dressing on the side; a little much for my taste. Next came out the fish and grilled asparagus on two separate plates. It was a bit cumbersome to deal with all three plates while at the bar and i didn't understand that. I was also surprised that my grilled asparagus had a large glob on it. Turns out it was cheese and it was amazing then the lightbulb clicked, this is why the three plates... asparagus needed to be baked to melt the cheese. The fish was fantastic probably the best baked fish that I have ever had.. and trust me, I don't say that often. If in Mobile, this place is worth the stop. read more

So after waiting an hour and 3 minutes to be seated I didn't realize that you all had a segregated section My party were seated in a room with all blacks and after being seated I was looking around this table had been available because no one left the building as so was waiting to be seated. Please do better Black money spends just like white money we want to be treated equally. read more

The food was very good but expensive two draft beers and an appetizer 30 dollars you can sit and watch them cook the oysters right in front of the bar that was pretty cool read more

The service was excellent! The food was amazing! The Smoked Yellowfin Tuna dip makes a great appetizer. The seafood sampler with added oysters provided so many great options! The sweet potato brulee was heavenly! read more

We only have been here once for lunch. It was just off the interstate, easy to find and park and just what we needed. Big place but booths give you privacy. Clean and nicely decorated. All the staff was quick and friendly just what we needed in the middle of a long road trip. Had the soups, bisque and gumbo both were very good. Both of us had the "Royal Red shrimp" I had never heard of them before. They are big and sweet and do taste a little like lobster. A couple were kind of soft a mushy which detracted a bit. I want to try them again maybe cooked differently but they were good as is. I had to ask for some crackers to go with them. It would be nice if they came without asking. They didn't seem to serve bread. It was a pleasure to try a food i had not known before. read more

Very friendly staff, great food! Definitely recommend this place! The Rockefeller oysters were my favorite!

We just put our name on the waiting list via Yelp Waitlist and once we entered the restaurant to check in after waiting 45 minutes the VERY RUDE hostess informed us that the restaurant does not seat via Yelp's Waitlist app and that we would have to put or names on the list and wait an additional 1 hour and half. Worst customer service I have ever experience in my life. I will never visit this establishment again!!!!! read more

Pretty good little spot food was good and bread pudding was to die for!!! It was pretty crowded because of the COVID but we got right in.

Awesome as usual. First time to this location but the two locations in Biloxi MS and Gulfport MS are just as good. Ordered oysters of course and the crab cakes with fried green tomatoes. Service was great. Only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. read more

Half Shell Oyster House - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Mobile, Alabama

Was suggested this place by a local person, and it was the bomb. Had the royal reds appetizer. Large shrimp that tastes like lobster. Awesome. The had the seafood gumbo soup, and the seafood corn bisque soup. My wife and I shared everything and it was incredible. Finally had the shrimp po boy, with the voodoo sauce. This was a sandwich to remember. I would put that sauce on everything. Great food and great service. read more

Oyster sampler was tasty but looked like it had been coiked for a while and barely warm. Crab cakes/green tomatoes were ok, but might have been good if it was hot, it wasn't even warm! Disappointed. My hush puppies were cold and tastless. Sorry guys it was awful. I am reviewing this just after finished my meal. Server was very polite. read more

Excellent seafood and service. Oysters are fabulous! Grilled oysters are some of the best in town.

The oyster sampler was the reason for the stop. It didn't disappoint! Big place with lots of seating. We hit shift change at 230 so our food and service was super slow. Limited beer selection but they had an AL IPA in bottle that was really good. Food 4-1/2 stars, service 2 stars. read more

I love this restaurant. Food is great. Staff attentive and friendly. Oysters are so fresh and delicious (all preparations).

The only reason I would suggest this place is the bar. The bartenders are very skilled. Other than that the prices are far too high and the food is under expectation every time without fail. If you disagree, just go see for yourself. The oysters are not anything to wow over either. Just go to any of the other oyster bars in town. This review goes for every half shell... since they are a chain. read more

Ordered the Oysters Sampler and OMG it was soo good! I'm not a big oyster fan (especially raw) but do love Oysters Rockefeller. After reading the different types they had, I really wanted to try them all and was so glad to have this option. They were really good and each one had such a unique and different taste! My personal favorite were the Oysters Orleans. For dinner I had the seafood pasta and let me just say, they do not shy on the seafood! Their was a mountain of lump grab on top and the pasta was filled with shrimp and crawfish, great dish for any seafood/pasta lover! read more

To begin with we were not greeted by our waiter for about 8-10 minutes. Our server was nice and had a pretty smile but she had too many tables and was unable to be attentive. The two cocktails were weak but the beer and wine were good. We ordered the original oysters and they were good. Now for the bad part. We ordered the redfish orleans with bisque and cheese grits. The bisque was fair, the grits were subpar and the redfish was seriously overcooked and had the consistency of steak. Everything tasted of crab boil. Overall it was a disappointing dining experience. read more

Loved this place - had the oyster sampler platter and it was awesome - perfectly done and hot on the table - wait staff was perfect and lovely in every way - thanks Kelsey - this a hidden gem - hiding in plane site - I will be back read more

Started out with half a dozen oysters on the half shell. They were served with cocktail sauce, horseradish, lemon, and crackers. They were fresh and delicious. I could have eaten about 3 dozen more. For my entree I ordered the shrimp Orleans with turnip greens and cheesy grits as my sides. The greens were made very well. The shrimp were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The grits were a bit thin, but they tasted great. I actually dipped my shrimp in the grits and made my own shrimp & grits. It was fantastic. All in all it was a great meal. The service was friendly and fast as well. I would come back for another visit. read more

Excellent dinner as well as excellent service. So happy we had dinner here! We enjoyed Juliana as our server. We had an amazing dinner after 17 hours of travel! Best stop we made! Thanks read more

Very disappointing!!! This place had been recommended by several people, plus it received nappie awards. What a crock! Especially considering it's a oyster house. The chargrilled oysters were terrible. Not one of the dozen was larger than a nickel. The only taste they had at all was the smoke from the fire. read more

Really good oysters, we got the sampler, my favorite was the seafood stuffed ones. Stuffed portobello mushrooms were small but also really good. The service was great and very personable.
