I got the food yesterday. Good food. Good and prompt service Their portions are good. Wait time is lesser Than other stores read more

I like the quick service they offer. This restaurant turned into my favorite Chinese take out place. The food tastes great. They do not use MSG and this makes a huge difference. They cook with fresh vegetables. When I order the vegetable mei fun with curry, I can taste every vegetable. The broccoli with garlic sauce (with white rice) tastes superb! No other place can match the taste. The prices remain fair. Other places hike up the prices if the orders do not appear on the menu. This place costs less than other take out places. A small place, many locals come here due to the location. I like the fact that the girl remembers me and knows what I usually order. Cash only when you order at the counter. read more

Yesterday my job ordered lunch, how do you serve bad shrimp? I'll attach a photo of it on the other side of the box you'll see the slimy shrimp. There's no reason for this, none. read more

Halal Kitchen - Bad spoilt shrimp not edible - Chinese Near Me - Sunnyside, New York

Going by just the title alone, one might be surprised to learn this place is actually a Chinese restaurant. Not just any Chinese restaurant, but a Chinese takeout joint. And not just any Chinese takeout joint, but a HALAL Chinese takeout joint. Is the Halal food legit? Maybe. Does the place seem like the dime-a-dozen Chinese takeout places in the hood? Yes x 10. The place is not as dingy as some of the other Chinese places, but large enough to host about 3-4 tables. During the hot summer months it's so muggy in there, I wonder how the cooks can handle the kitchen heat let alone the humidity. The hole in the wall feel is evident, but that is to be expected with most places like this. After some talks with the folks behind the counter, I learned the manager is of the Muslim faith. Though the word Halal will have many thinking of gyro meats, chicken and rice with white/hot sauce off the carts, all one will find here is the usual Chinese takeout suspects: General Tso's, egg rolls, fried rice, etc. There is no pork on the menu obviously and all meat (chicken, beef) is preceded by a "Halal" notation on the menu. With all of the talk of the food, how was it? On just a Chinese-American takeout scale, the place is mediocre. There hasn't been one outstanding dish I've sampled that would warrant another visit here. Tried a combo of things: General Tso's, curry chicken, beef with broccoli, and some mixed vegetable lo mein and it was no dice on all of them. Bland, barely seasoned, and about on par with the rest of the Sunnyside Chinese joints. The prices aren't bad, but for $6.95 for a medium order of chow fun, I'd much rather the Halal carts in Jackson Heights. read more

I just wasted my $33.65. Old and unhealthy chicken and bad rice, getting me stomach ache my children are not feeling well after eating food from here. The worsted experience, even I just learned Malaysian owner runs this store by the employee who eats pork at the same kitchen. It is highly unlikely " halal place ". read more

So the food is great. As far as delivery it can be a wait depending on the time you call or use grub hub. I just got my lunch and after I requested no peas I still have peas in my rice. Hence the 4 stars. Food is fresh , price is inexpensive and it's pretty good considering they don't cook pork. read more

Halal Kitchen - Shrimp n broccoli - Chinese Near Me - Sunnyside, New York

This used to be amazing a few years ago. As of the last 5 years, everytime I've ordered from, the food has been terrible. The fried chicken drumsticks are so small and almost nonexistent. The shrimp in the shrimp roll tastes like rubber and is extremely overcooked. The shell is also hard and actually hurts to chew. The broccoli and chicken sauce has no flavor. It is a sad excuse for Chinese food. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE unless you want disgusting bland no flavor over fried food. read more

BEWARE!!! NOT HALAL!!! Not Muslim!!!! 1. When asked for halal certification, I got a shady and unclear response. No halal certification presented. 2. Owned and run by non Muslim family. Nothing wrong with it but the owner wouldn't have an incentive to keep things halal. 3. Asked multiple times if meat was halal, flat out lied and said yes. Again no certification in sight. 4. Got some fried rice w/ shrimp. Food is horrible. Not tasty at all. Anyone truly wanting to eat Halal then DO NOT GO THERE. NOT HALAL! read more

The food is good, but their current delivery guy is not. He calls you from outside your building and wants you to come outside to get your food. That is not the point of delivery! read more

Wow. The worst I've ever had. Don't get anything from the specials. The food had zero flavor.

Obviously if you're a regular around the neighborhood, you'd be aware that it's a Halal Chinese take out. Anyways, as a Muslim-American or southeast asian myself I love their fried chicken wings! it has some kind of curry taste to it. The other reason why it is Halal and fabulous is because it serves no pork and on top of that, they do not mix their fried food or anything stirred in a wok with pork oil,. BIG A+ and Ameen to that! As an added note, only the ignorant will make reference of halal food to only gyro meat, chicken and rice, and kebabs. It's amazing that although NYC is diverse culturally, very few are knowledgeble of what is meant by Halal. The existence of the halal kitchen in sunnyside will hopefully break the limited notion of what is halal. read more

It's such a shame that I have to give this place a lower rating! The quality of the food hasn't gotten worse, but every time I order certain dishes, like a chicken with broccoli for example, they throw in a ton of broccoli with just a couple of pieces of chicken. I have requested them to add more chicken in the next time they prepared the food, but the same issue occured twice after. I haven't been going back there since. I might try it again soon though, since the food still tastes pretty good. read more

The food is better than any Chinese food I have eaten before. The place is clean so one can sit in and dine. The service is amazing and I would recommend anyone who likes Chinese food as well as quick service and HALAL to go here. Happy Dinning!!! read more

So, we've tried a few of the Sunnyside Chinese places, and it's pretty slim pickings. My Hunan chicken was sadly mild. However, Halal Kitchen did not make us ill, like most everyone else did, so that's a big win for delivery Chinese. btw - dumplings are *heavy* and thick-doughed. Sauce, though, is awesome. read more

I have ordered the lamb curry and chicken curry for take out. I cannot tell which is which from the appearance, smell and taste... The curry is very sour and resembles a Chinese style spicy and sour soup. Also it is covered in 0.5 cm of oil over the curry. Stick to their Chinese food... Should've gone for a McDonald instead. read more

Super delayed! I wait for totally two hours to have the food. Does not recommend. I called the restaurant twice and each time they said the food would be delivered very soon and I wait like extra hours! This experience so bad read more

The broccoli, lo mein, vegetable roll, and rice is delicious

This spot is so utterly cheap and the worst. Expensive halal food should be quality, not cheap meats. I ordered chicken wings and the pieces were so tiny, I don't think it was even chicken. They are thieves. My pepper steak had more pepper and onion than actual meat. So why am I paying $12 for just vegetables? Shut them down! read more

I'm pretty sure everybody who steps in this place is expecting the same, but ends up disappointed. I stepped in expecting the same menu I would get if I were to go a Halal Street Cart . NOPE! Just the same run of the mill Chinese food joint. Then I figured it would taste different from the usual since following the strict Halal dietary rules, so I ordered. Wrong again, tasted the same as any other Chinese joint. I'm pretty sure if Allah ate here he be would most displeased. read more

Best Chinese takeout place in Sunnyside! This place is always open when I need it and the food is great. I love the Hunan chicken with rice and the black bean chicken. They make the food pretty fast and delivery never takes too long. You can always depend on this spot for a quick meal. The quality of the ingredients is also very good! Vegetables taste good and fresh. There are also vegetarian options which is great when I'm skipping meat. Sometimes they mess up on the take out, last night they gave me chicken in a vegetarian dish but that happens. Overall, this is a great spot. read more

When ordering large plate, THEY GIVE SO LITTLE MEAT AND SO MANY VEGETABLES. When you tell them no vegetables, they add so much sauce. Food is good only when they don't add so much sauce. A cheap way to do business. I DON'T RECOMMEND THEM! read more

This place is our usual Chinese eatery. When they say authentic, they really mean authentic. It is amazingly similar to regular Chinese restaurants, and taste amazing in comparison. We almost always get it delivered to us and they give a free can of soda if over $10. We almost always order the chicken with broccoli, but some times we get very small amounts of chicken, and too much broccoli. They give sauce packets, but they give so few packets unless you ask them for extra. All in all, this place has great tasting food with only a few flaws. If you can't find a good halal Chinese restaurant, this is the place to eat! read more

Ordered through GrubHub. Food had huge volume and was very reasonable. Had beef with garlic sauce and chicken chow mein. Did not realized that chow mein was not a noodle dish here. Which can happen in some restaurants. Should have ordered lo mein. Aside from that, the dishes were good overall. A little on the bland side with flavor, but not bad. Will probably order from them again. read more

First of all I believe this place isnt Halal the delivery truck bring Purdue chicken brand last time i checked it thats not halal. I would love the lady in the front to show someone that it actually is halal the box brand etc. 2. Over priced and always changes prices look at the menu prices she always going to charge you more and if you say something she gets mad. We need more halal options in sunnyside but beware of this place PLEASE ASK TO SEE THE CHICKEN BOX's and meat box's to see if its halal if it really is she would have no problem showing it. read more

Prices are cheaper than other places and delivery was prompt. We had General Tso's and fried chicken wings. We got a small and the portion of General Tso's is a lot of food. My only complaint and the reason I am knocking down 2 stars is because the chicken arrived soggy. The flavor is good, but I really hate soggy chicken. The rice is superb, best takeout rice I've ever had! The wings are good as well, but keep in mind they aren't hot wings. Just regular wings with no sauce on them. What drew me in was the fact they they are halal and dont use MSG. Maybe it's best for takeout read more

I was very disappointed when I went to order about two days ago with a couple of friends. It wasn't busy, so there was no reason for there to be any problem with time management. It took about over an hour to get our food ready, although we didn't order much- two orders. The lady who took our order was quite rude and had to be constantly reminded that we were still waiting for our food. Requests for the food to be spicy were forgotten. The food wasn't all that great either, which is a shame because it actually was a couple of years ago. We chose this spot to eat from because we thought it would be convenient, but that wasn't that case at all. read more

The only reason this place is getting a three stars is because the food is decent and is also halal. The female worker in the front is so rude. She has no emotion and seems pissed off all the time. the best halal chinese restaurant in nyc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This order was very quick and painless.the foods and the scent when i opened the bag was so sweet and therapeutic. The flavors that the chicken was coated where live flavor crystals bursting in my mouth with every bite. The cuisine is halal which is a plus and most of all budget friendly. Delivery was less than an hour and most memorable was the service experience, especially on a friday. You just gained a new satisfied customer! read more
