Took my son Michael out tonight for his birthday to J.J. Garden for some old school cantonese food. With the never ending tea pot, home made fried noodles with duck sauce,General TSO chicken thats so juicy and Beef chop suey to die for. Where aspirations for authentic and comforting cantonese cuisine are fulfilled. On a dime. The best steam pork Dimsum in queens.#jjgarden

Fresher & Tastier Chinese in J Hts

My go to for Chinese American in J. Hts, a step above the other options. Fresher tasting and more vegetables like chinese broccoli. The chicken is less rubbery. They also have dumplings and traditional Chinese dishes like roast duck. When you eat there they bring you a pot of tea on request which I love!

Good if you're craving classic Chinese takeout. Ordered Wonton Soup, General Tso's Chicken, and Fried Chicken Wings via DoorDash. The soup was nothing to write home about, but the wings were crispy and the General Tso's chicken actually had some good spice to it, which some places don't do enough of. Would order from here again.

    Jj's shrimp!

Love Jj's. In particular their JJ's shrimp. I've never found a honey walnut shrimp as good as theirs and it's a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED dish. I've dined in and ordered out and always had pleasant experiences. Food always fresh and delicious. The General Tso's dish is a staple on every single Chinese restaurants menu but what makes theirs stand out is the choice between white and dark meat. I took a pic of my shrimp but way late as I remembered in the middle of devouring it. Do yourself a favor, get the shrimp. 18.95 but most delicious and enough to split into 2 maybe even 3 separate meals.

Good stuff! All yummy. Gotta try the pork and cabbage soup and the eggplant in garlic sauce.

They used to offer free delivery, but now they tack on $2 to every delivery, and there is nothing on the takeout menu stating that.

Had a smattering of apps along with some soju, and it was a good time. Food was good but it was more the authenticity and casual good vibes that boost the rating up. The banchan was solid, nothing exceptional, and for $4 was a bit steep. The chicken was also similar, good but nothing standout. The spicy rice cakes though were really good. Only complaint is that it was pretty lacking on rice cakes - it was half fish cake (which tbh I prefer but maybe not everyone does). I can tell the food quality is good though, so I'd be eager to try more of their signature dishes, such as the Bulgogi. Definitely worth a shot if you're in Astoria craving Korean food!

Turns out I did not need the additional sides of rice and of Kimchi as far as amount of food goes, however I think I liked the flavor and "kick" of the side of Kimchi over the Kimchi that was in the Ban Chan..... The food was pretty good! As I mentioned it came via door dash and the dasher was on a scooter and it was a few miles away so by the time it got to me it was only warm and not hot but that isn't really something the restaurant can do anything about. However I did ask for utensils to be included and I think that is something the restaurant has control over and I didn't get any utensils so there is that....

The atmosphere and ambience was warm and inviting, while people were engaging and having fun it never got too loud where you couldn't have a convo at your table. It was also still happy hour, so we enjoyed a few glasses of wine, the QR burger, and the Roast chicken breast. Both equal delicious. We also wanted to try the crab and avocado dip to share, but we weren't sure if the chips were safe for my friend to have, who has a GF allergy. Our waitress was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The waitress knew which plates could be modified to accommodate dietary restrictions which was super helpful in decision making process. Overall the food, service, and atmosphere were great. If we wanted to get a table in the main dining room, the wait was estimated to be over 2 hours (we went around 8pm), so I highly recommend making a reservation if you plan to go. The staff were very quick with service and very friendly. We were offered toasty bread with some lemon and an olive spread while we waited for our food (which also came out super quick!). We ordered the octopus and lamb chops. The octopus was incredibly tender, the meat was very soft - I personally would've preferred a little more bite to it, but it still tasted good. The lamb chops were flavorful. The medium here is on par with medium rare at most other places, and one of our pieces was borderline rare. At the end of the meal we were also offered complementary desert, which was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our meal overall, but just know that it's a little on the pricey. The octopus and lamb chops came out to $80~ pre-tax and tip. Would recommend if you're a fan of seafood!
