The food is awesome and the service is great! This restaurant has been in the neighborhood for years and has been a gem.

The food here is always really good, and that's the main reason I keep coming back. Unfortunately, the delivery service seriously needs improvement. The delivery driver was rude, tried to leave without giving me my change, changed the price of my order, and didn't even give me a receipt. When I asked for my change, he gave me attitude even though I still tipped him. The restaurant really needs a better delivery person because the food deserves better service. read more

The food was your typical Chinese fare - the menu is restricted in certain ways to encourage larger spending which I'm not a fan of - EX| Most Chinese food restaurants have about 15-20 combos, this only has 5, so if you wanted something particular you would have to dish out 20+ dollars for a full size entree. 30+ dollars total is far too high a price tag to justify both quality and quantity. My go to for Chinese American in J. Hts, a step above the other options. Fresher tasting and more vegetables like chinese broccoli. The chicken is less rubbery. They also have dumplings and traditional Chinese dishes like roast duck. When you eat there they bring you a pot of tea on request which I love! read more

Love Jj's. In particular their JJ's shrimp. I've never found a honey walnut shrimp as good as theirs and it's a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED dish. I've dined in and ordered out and always had pleasant experiences. Food always fresh and delicious. The General Tso's dish is a staple on every single Chinese restaurants menu but what makes theirs stand out is the choice between white and dark meat. Where do I start.... I ordered the General Tso's chicken, Cantonese Wonton Soup, and Beef Lo Mein. General Tso's Chicken- 1/5- if you like the soft breading of sweet and sour chicken, this is for you. The breading was soggy and served with a watered-down version of something similar to General Tso's sauce. The pork fried rice was bland. Beef Lo Mein- 1/5- Bland, bland, bland...even with soy. Cantonese Wonton Soup- 2/5- Could have been good, but, again, very bland. Overall, this is a no. You can't mask the bland flavor with garlic. What was lacking in flavor was replaced with harsh, bitter, raw garlic. read more

Food was very good. But be careful. I ordered on the phone for a pick up order. The lady at the restaurant said $20 and change. When I got to the restaurant it was $26 and change. The lady is liar, she said I misunderstood. I would believe that, but this has happened three times already. Again food was good. The best Chinese restaurant on 31st Avenue. If you are disappointed with the Chinese food scene in Astoria, travel a few miles up 31st Avenue until you reach the Jackson Heights shopping center. We were repeatedly told how good the food was, and they were right. We ordered dumplings and honey-dipped chicken wings. With hot tea, the food was delicious. Had lunch recently at JJ's after several years, it was good enough, but not like it used to be. First, they didn't have the same fried noodles as they had before. Their fried noodles now are the same as every other local takeout, dry and tasteless, and you have to ask for them as well. Second, the soup was barely warm and then the fried rice was just cold. Although I went home with a full belly I thought the quality was not as it used to be. I will try again sometime in the future and hope for the better. read more

Not your usual chinese restaurant, though they include popular items from one. Place is white table cloth setting and spacious. Staff really dont speak much English but enough to get your orders right the first time you speak. I come here for their duck, fried rice and Zombie drink. I work around the corner from here once a month and I have to stop by here for lunch every time. The General Tso is crispy and delicious with an amazing sauce and the right amount of spice. The fried rice is delicious and so is the hot and sour soup. The lunch specials is very reasonably priced and the quality of the food is top notch! Definitely worth a try! read more

Not a bad place. Get plenty of food customer service could be better. They just weren't happy to serve you. They have a order to go station to if you don't want to sit down. Not much of a wait ever to be seated. Make sure you ask for extra sauce because when they say they gave it to you already it usually means they gave you one of each sauce. I ordered chicken broccoli with white rice and my partner ordered fried rice. Overall it was delicious and certainly worth the trip. The menu also had a lot options for those willing to explore. We usually ordered for pick up and didn't have any issues until we ordered for delivery. The last time we ever ordered from this place, the delivery guy did not like the tip we gave him for a 20 dollar order, we gave him $2 tip. He asked us if that was all the tip we had and when we told him that was all we had for him. He proceeded to point to my pockets and asked me to make sure... In disbelief I apologized and told him that a tip is not mandatory and we really only had $2. He told us that gas is expensive and that he had to drive to us. We live within a 10 block radius. He then raised his voice and said "don't order again if we don't have the money." Upon arrival, the staff was very friendly and sat us down immediately with menus and tea. The waiter dropped off a plate of what seems to be their homemade tortilla chips with sweet and sour sauce on the side (disgusting! Please stop serving this!) We ordered our food and a person in my party asked for recommendations or a chef's special and all of a sudden, the waiter pretended he didn't speak Cantonese and spoke strictly Mando but he was speaking Cantonese to us the entire time! He also said he doesnt know anything the restaurant is known for and its up to us to order what we want. Uh... What? Our dishes: (3 people) - Mixed Veg with fried tofu - Wonton in soup - General Tso Chicken - Satay Beef with Scallions - Singapore Chow Mein (waiter told us not to order this because its disgusting but I actually thought this was the only thing that had flavor) Everything was honestly worst than the usual "Americanized Chinese Food" and this restaurant isn't suppose to be that type of cuisine. This is my Dad's favorite Chinese restaurant. He likes the set up mostly and the service. The food can sometimes be a hit or miss but it's overall decent. They have a large parking lot that they share with a shopping plaza and also if you have a large party they have special sitting in the back of the restaurant. The staff is nice and helpful and are always ready to assist. I've tried almost every dish on the menu because I've been coming here since I was a child. Whenever I come here we usually eat family style where everyone orders a bunch of stuff and we all just share. The genera tso's chicken is tasty; the sauce can be a little thick sometimes. The roast duck is really meaty and has a nice skin. I always get chicken on a stick it's really simple but so good. Overall, they have so many dishes to try and the price is very fair. I also love the little pineapples they offer after dinner, it's a sweet and refreshing little touch. read more

This is still one of my favorite restaurants. Yes, they did increase their prices, but what restaurant hasn't? It has been a bit tougher to order out, so I make it a treat and within my favorite restaurant rotations. We have done both take out and delivery. Sometimes delivery takes long, but they tell you before you place the order if you're ok with the wait time. The food is always good with decent portions. I'm glad JJ Gardens is still around as it's been tough knowing many other of my favorite restaurants who haven't made it through the pandemic. read more

The roast pork didn't look fresh because I can tell that it has been re-heated. The duck didn't taste fresh either. All in all it was a mediocre lunch. Neighborhood sit down Chinese restaurant. Not like the ones in flushing as someone previously claimed. The food is definitely more your typical American style Chinese food (pork fried rice, wonton soup, chicken and broccoli - they serve you fried noodles and duck sauce upon arrival) with a few more authentic Chinese additions such as soup dumplings and casseroles. If you're a fan of soup dumplings, the ones here are quite delicious - large and filled to the brim with a light soup stock. I'd recommend it to people living in the neighborhood and I will probably return again for the soup dumplings. read more
