The egg drop soup was not bad, felt like lots of msg. The general tso was below average. Chicken was somewhat dry and the pieces were smaller than what I'm use to for general tso. It didn't have a nice bite to it. I'd rather eat panda express' orange chicken than this. This place is a household name, since I was a kid. To this day, the barbeque chicken cannot be stopped. I don't really eat chicken skin, however, when they roast the chicken just right, it's imperative to eat that flavorful goodness. Also, their shrimp fried rice is amazing. Especially, with some hot sauce, my mouth is salivating thinking about it. The only issue will be that they charge tax, without stating that on their menu. I love the shrimp lobster sauce, General tso and sesame chicken, and fried and the bbq chicken. The delivery is very quick as well. I have nothing to complain. To the untrained eye nothing about Long Spring Garden stands out, but they are sorely mistaken. This unassuming Chinese food take out joint has some of the best barbecue chicken I've ever had. I've been eating this chicken for about 20 years, and no matter where we've moved - Astoria, later LI, we return for the chicken. Recently, at the bequest of a friend I tried the boneless spare ribs. These were superior to the ribs at any other take out spot I've been to. Soft, deliciously marinated, real meat. The people that run the place are very friendly, and even dabble in some Spanish. I grew up 3 blocks from this restaurant and I've been going here since 1982. LSG's Shrimp with Lobster sauce (SLS) is the best in the WORLD. Yes, the WORLD. I've since travelled all over Southeast Asia and Europe. Went to college in the SanFran Bay area and now live in Southern CA (eat in LA, Monterey Park, Diamond Bar: all the places w great chinese food). For years, I've tried SLS at each chinese restaurant I visited in all those places. After countless renditions of SLS (over 100?) I gave up trying to do better than LSG. I don't order it anymore unless I'm at LSG. Whether americanized or not, the LSG SLS rocks! Whenever I visit NYC, it's the first meal I eat when I visit home and the last meal before I leave. Pour it over rice, mix and .... awesome! The shrimp is sooo tasty and juicy. Just the right texture. Now, my wife and kids are hooked. BTW: At first, my wife didn't think the SLS was anything special. That's because she didn't try SLS at more than a few different places. Afterwards, I started ordering it for her at different, high quality, chinese restaurants and then she could tell how good LSG's SLS was. Like drinking Dom P as your first sip of champagne. This place used to make some of the best rotisserie chicken I've ever eaten. This was all until they changed ownership and the 'new' owners can't seem to get it right. You used to get a half a chicken, juicy, skin was yummy with soy sauce baked on that was so delicious, and vegetable fried rice that was also really good, for $5.50 Now it's $6.25, no big whoop, but the quality is abysmal. Sad bad service they got the order wrong I can't eat meat dumplings when I'm allergic...from that to the rude delivery boy who wanted a big tip then they close 9:30 instead of 10:30 so tried calling within a minute of getting my food. The man answering kept telling me "wha what What?!! In the most mocking manner possible and hung up on my three times when what I tried to do was explain their mistake. Take two; I go out in the blizzard cold to at least get my refund and I was told to leave n come back tomorrow. So no food no money. Stay away from these people. read more

That's my only real beef with this place. The chinese food here is tasty and the price is for sure right. They do a full rotisserie chicken that's super most and flavorful with a half pint of of pork fried rice for less than ten bucks!! The mongolean beef was great too. amazing chinese food. i order from here whenever i can. there are quite a few chinese food places but this place is the best. there's a reason why they've been in business for years. their food tastes absolutely fantastic and i'm always pleased with it. portions are very reasonable for the price (which is competitive with the other chinese restaurants in the area). another thing this place has that NO OTHER RESTAURANT has is their extremely fast delivery. nine times out of ten they will deliver within 10-20 minutes of you placing your order. the order i just got took about 12 minutes to come during the evening!! that's unheard of. granted i live about a 6 min drive from there but that's still amazing. i will never stop ordering food from here (unless something drastic happens). their service, quality of food, and speedy delivery cannot be matched. i highly recommend anyone in the area to order from here (either delivery, pickup, or dine-in). you will NOT be disappointed. read more

I love this place. The quarter BBQ chicken with pork fried rice. That's the shit right there.

I did not expect too much from this Chinese take out, since it looks like any other dinky take out place. However... I was so surprised when my husband got the lo mien, and it was so fresh and delicious. The best lo mien I've ever had! Looks can be very deceiving. The fried rice, shrimp with lobster sauce and ribs are also very good. Egg Foo Yung was just ok. I haven't had the bbq chicken yet, but I see from other reviews that it is good. My son, who has allergies usually can't have fried rice because of the egg, but is able to have their pork fried rice, and loves it. An easy meal with all the food groups when we are in a rush. I would recommend this place, for people who want a fast, yummy meal and want great value for their money. read more

Ordered food for years but in the last several months a new cook has completely spoiled the soup--and pretty much everything else. Nuanced spice has turned into scorching hot, sickenly hot, and nauseating. The Mongolian Beef is ineatible, the Thai Basil Shrimp lost in a sea of heat so you can't taste the basil or shrimp.
