This most recent visit has made me feel quite disappointed with their food. Mediocre meat quality with a below average portion. It's a surprise to see the significant decline in price value compare to my last visit some time ago. With the same price, there are way a lot of choices around. Paid $150 and still felt not eating much... The only aspect is still considered acceptable is their service. Unfortunately, that was it. It is no longer good and honestly can't keep up with the competitions. All those noodle dance and mini shows now have become gimmicky simply because the core value no longer exists. I would not like to go again and not recommended.

I love HDL hotpot and usually come here 4-5 times a year. My initial few visits, the service was implacable and so well trained in attention to details. The service in my recent few visits were still good but they don't seem to go above and beyond now. The food is usually really good! The soup base is flavourful, the sauce bar has a nice variety, the ingredients are fresh. They also have promotions during late night and happy hour. We also always order the noodle dance which is really fun! They pull the noodle in front of you with a dance and music. We were so sure our noodle touched the floor during the dance lol! They give you a small slice of cake for your birthday and sing you a song. In the past they also give you a small gifts but we have not had this in the last two birthdays we celebrated. You either need a reservation or you can easily be waiting up to two hours for a table on a weekend. It's usually really busy and hard to find parking at this location.

Had an enjoyable time at Haidilao today! Our server Derek took great care of us! There were SO many birthday celebrations, staff were literally singing 'Happy Birthday' every 5 mins lol We did a la carte instead of waiting until 8:30pm for the AYCE (weekday only). We got 4 quad soup base, and I really liked the tomato, and the mushroom soup base :) All ingredients were fresh, the sauce counter was clean and filled. Staff often came by to make sure our soup bases are always full. Absolutely would come again! Don't forget to use all the secret codes for Haidilao freebies ;)

Came here with a group of 8 for the late night ayce beef special. Reservations are highly recommended. Overall, wow. Haidilao hot pot experience was almost like an all inclusive - type feel. Service was great. Attentive. Responsive. Meat was plentiful, flavourful & soup bases were packed with flavour. Was a fan of the laksa soup base. Loved the sauce station, with so many options to customize your sauces!! Can make a bunch of different sauces to compliment your hot pot meats/noodles/items. P.s. there are secret haidilao codes that you can request from the servers for free items. Feel free to look them up online. We personally used "I like your golden bricks" and obtained free condensed milk deep fried buns (YUMMY!!!!!). Service was so attentive that they pay attention to empty water often, gives gloves if ever using your hands, aprons (to prevent splashing), hair ties for the girlies, and also nails (done with reservation) if available! Overall 5/5, would definitely come back!

Haidilao is a great spot whether you're craving a late night snack or going all in for a full meal. Been here couple of times. They often have late night promos and different codes you can use for free items, which is always a bonus. My favourite is the tomato soup base you can even ask them to pack it up to go, or use the I love your tomato soup base code to get a new bag of tomato soup to take home. You can also ask for fruit like watermelon while you're there. I especially love coming here for my birthday. If you join their membership (which is free), you can get $30 off when you spend $100, and they really go all out giving you free dancing noodles, a cupcake, small gifts, and even a birthday song. You can also request decorations. The staff are always incredibly friendly and accommodating. It's definitely on the pricier side, but the top tier service makes it totally worth it. They are always making sure you have everything like offering aprons, hair ties, candies and more. I also love their bathroom lmaoo. They have extra hair ties, mouth water, perfume and other items.

This has easily become my FAV place for hot pot!!! The food is consistently good & the quality is high. My parents who are generally very critical on food taste & quality agree that it is done well here. My hubby who used to hate hot pot now loves it after his visit here. The service is top notch. There are special touches here such as aprons we can wear. This is good for me since I always end up splashing broth/food all over. They also give you baskets to put certain food items in so it doesn't get lost in the pot. Hair ties to keep your hair out of the way. They also do free manicures Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. onwards but can't recall what time the lady there says it ends. The ambiance is great here! High ceilings, bright and very spacious! They also have secret codes you can tell them for free items.

Coming from someone who usually prefers hot pot at home, it's a rare occasion for me to go out for it, especially when it's a chain. That said, the quality of the food was pretty good, even if the price was a bit steep. They definitely make up for it with the service and the entertainment. The day I went, they had a Chinese performance with a performer who switched between what felt like a zillion masks. I swear I've only ever seen that kind of thing on TV, so seeing it live was actually pretty cool. I ended up paying around $80 for my portion alone, though we definitely over-ordered. Apparently, if you eat quickly and leave earlier, they give you a discount, which I only found out after the fact. This place isn't AYCE (which is what I prefer), but I still ordered way too much because I wanted to try so many things. Though I think recently saw that they do have an AYCE option... which may be more cost effective. We went with two soups, tomato and spicy version, it really adds up the price, especially the spicy soup base. If I go again, I'd probably get an extra portion of plain "soup" (aka boiling water) just to rinse off some of the spice. I noticed a few other tables doing that, and it honestly makes sense. We got their signature seasoned meats, some meatballs, shrimp paste, and a variety of veggies. Everything was solid, though in hindsight, we probably didn't need the seasoned meats--the spicy and tomato broths added more than enough flavor. I also really liked the DIY sauce station and the shaved ice dessert bar. Nice little touches that round out the experience. Though I can't say I'll be jumping to revisit again. I think I heard the Scarborough location may have a free manicure, which I think is much better value for me.

My first hot pot experience in Canada and won't be the last! Saw this place on TikTok and had to check it out.. it met all of our expectations and more! They had great lunch specials, the ice jelly station was so fun & we used some secret codes to extra items! "Your soup base is so yummy" = a free bag of tomato soup base! "Can we have the golden bars?" = order of fried dough with sweetened condensed milk Pro tip: you can take home whatever you don't eat, including your broths!

We always love a good hot pot place! We had a great time at Haidilao Hot Pot. The service was excellent and they were very accommodating for toddlers. The kids meal was a hit! Everything was very clean - I'd recommend the prime boneless beef ribs and shrimp paste.

Most interesting experience at a restaurant! This chain stands apart from any Chinese restaurant let alone hot pot. They are overly well staffed beyond any restaurant I've seen, so that there is always attentive service. This is pretty unusual of any Asian restaurant, let alone The Keg steakhouse! There is a lot of small details here that they offer and I'm sure we didn't even see all of it. From sealed hand wipes, soup splash aprons(even kiddy sized), kid friendly plates/cups/toy puzzle, wipes for eyeglasses and hair ties you can request for, plastic sealed hair combs and hair dryer in the clean washroom. There are pull out cubbies under your booth seat to store jackets/purses. A swivel holder for water/beverage jug. We came for early dinner at 5:30pm on a Wednesday evening, and when leaving the place was full and line up crowding into the cold. This is a sleepy looking plaza at night but do not be fooled how busy this place can be and how hard parking can become. Once we arrived we were quickly, warmly welcomed. Funny, as my kids wanted to wait so they could check out the free snacks, look at the hot fruit teas, and I wanted to get a manicure since the little girl was almost done her polish by the manicurist. Order is done by tablet, pick your flavoured broths or you can request hot water which is free. We tried and would highly suggest their House Tomato, and Sukiyaki (Japanese, sweet soy sauce like) for the kids or meat lovers. Everything we tried was delish and soft. The tender beef, no idea what part this is from, but the kids gobbled it up and wanted more. Chicken, shrimp, beef tendon balls is typical. The shrimp baggie is neat, really plump and tender. The server came to portion it into the soups for us. It's very neat to watch their finesse; squeezing the bag and snipping it into bite size, while I would have made a different art project with it! Veggies, tofu pockets/rolls, lotus root are a must try and partly strategic. They absorb the flavour and soup so well. You can order noodle from the Dancing Guy for $4.95. It's entertaining as we had a good dancer and he has different jams playing on his speaker while making his noodle lasso but it's not a lot of noodles. Let's say 4 feet of noodle, making it nice to try but any noodle fan would want more. $3.99/person for the sauce and dessert bar. It's a tradition for hot pot patrons to make their own saucey concoction. Some swear by a recipe and it gets copied in the family to make this experience. Some are just trying new flavours and making experiments but it's part of the fun of hot pot. We skipped this add on as the soup broth is enough flavour. The dessert bar is more "toppings one can find in a bubble tea drink" and not fruits or cakes. They gave individual Chapman ice creams to us instead and some fruit slices on the house. This place is neat to try with anyone new to hot pot. It's not cheap ordering Ala carte, we could have saved money dining at an AYCE but it's not the same quality as here.

Our final bill, including tips $162.15 for 3 people. Not cheap! I think Dolar Hotpot in Richmond BC is better in food and service.

Went there for hotpot tonight. 5 pm seating was good not busy yet. We were told they are fully booked for the night and we must leave after 90 minutes. 3 of us picked 15 dishes among us. We picked the pork none soup base, $24.95 The dishes were ok but not as good as last time in August. Surprisingly the Hostess told me I got a 15% discount because we finished eating in less than one hour! Total cost after tax and tips $162.15

Obsequious I havent written a review in a while, but feel compelled to do so here. Fantastic meal. My wife had told me many fantastical stories about this place. From the aprons to the noodle dance, it was exactly as she described. I know its technically a chain, but for anyone who hasnt been, I would highly recommend two stars a la Michelin Star system: "worth a detour"

April 29, 2025 - I went to get the late night special, meat carnival, $19.95 pp. The food was great. It was an all meat special, so we ordered an assortment of meat; fish, chicken, lamb, beef etc. We also got the sweet buns with condensed milk using the special code. That was good too.

The lid on my shredded potato salad wasn't on properly and the sauce leaked through my Fantuan bag. The food gets five stars. Sadly, the lid on my potato salad wasn't securely on the container. I had my food in my insulated bag, so the sauce leaked into the Fantuan bag and my insulated bag. Luckily, my car was fine. As a result, my rating is four stars. I wanted to try a new eatery. I looked at my Fantuan app and noticed He Bei Chinese Cuisine. It had dumplings and snacks that I enjoy, so I said yes to placing a dinner order from this eatery. I ordered these items: - Pork and chive steamed dumplings (large has 14 dumplings) - Tea eggs - Shredded potato salad On Fantuan, when you purchase $15 worth of food, you get the shredded potato salad for a cent. Deal! After placing my order near my home, I drove over to this eatery. The drive was ten minutes. I was given an estimated time of fifteen minutes. It was ready in ten minutes. I had no problem finding this eatery. There was plenty of parking. I pulled into a spot and walked in. I saw the Yubu sign. My heart sank, as I loved the Korean tofu pockets from this joint. I liked seeing places to sit down and eat at He Bei. Nice! A woman behind the counter came over. I said that I had a Fantuan order. She talked to me in Mandarin. I don't understand it, but we were fine communicating with each other in our languages. She pointed out the blue Fantuan bag on the table behind me. I thanked her and wished her a nice day. She said thanks right back. I put my food in my insulated bag. With the leak, I managed to launder the Fantuan bag and clean my insulated bag. After I cleaned up, I had dinner at home. The food was amazing and filling! I loved the shredded potato salad. Sure, a lot of the sesame-soy sauce was gone. However, it tasted yummy. It was worth the cent! The steamed pork and chive dumplings were so good. I didn't dunk them in soy sauce. The filling had so much moisture that I felt like I was eating soup dumplings. The filling had yummy flavour and the dumplings were steamed to perfection. Excellent! You can buy frozen dumplings from this place. I'll need to do it. The tea eggs were the perfect snack while streaming hockey games. I peeled the shells off both of them. The eggs were cracked to allow the amazing soy-based sauce to marinate and get into the eggs. Delicious! I'm a fan. I'll take a closer look at the lids on my food next time. I'm glad that I put food in my insulated bag. It saved cleaning my car's upholstery! (59)

So we ordered Maggi Lobster (~3lbs) for $34/lb, and stir fried beef with Chinese broccoli (gai lan). The lobster was cooked perfectly, with the Maggi sauce not being too salty. They definitely gave us all the pieces of the 3lbs lobster. The gai lan had a bitter aftertaste, which is common for this vegetable. I wished they had a way to get rid of that. They were generous with the amount of beef and was well marinated. The cut wasn't that great, but that is to be expected. I don't think they added much MSG or at least used good quality ones, as we did not feel overly thirsty later in the evening. They give free daily soup and dessert. What we were most impressive was with the service. The waiters were very attentive, changing our plates twice during our 1ish hour meal. But I will be back as I said this place hardly disappoints and Even with this experience it's still an easy recommendation to come here I hope next time the quality is up to their old 30 year standards.

My childhood fave was the familiar taste of century egg and shredded pork congee which we often ate with 油条 a freshly fried dough. B17 - Shredded Pork & Preserved Egg Congee. Good value. Fast service. Always tasty. Congee Wong is generous with their soup ingredients compared to other congee restaurants. Popo and Gunggung's favourite soup was D9 - Shrimp Dumpling Noodle in Soup. Rice noodles were made right and they were not overcooked. They preferred it with a bit of gai lan. P72 - Vegetable with Oyster Sauce. The veggies were slightly overcooked but still edible. This establishment has been here for years. Some people might find the decor outdated but it holds special memories to many of us patrons.

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

If you break it down, it's actually such a good deal: the snakehead upgrade is usually +$3 each and their handcrafted drinks run around $6. No extra charge for any of that with this combo, so... why not? I got the scallion pickled cabbage fish soup (mild spice) and my friend went for the Laotan boiled fish (a bit spicier). For the snack, we picked half Taiwanese sausage and half glutinous rice cake to get both savoury and dessert vibes. When the bowls came out, they looked huge, but the portion was kinda deceiving... it's a very wide, shallow bowl, so the amount of actual soup wasn't as generous as it looked. For a fish soup restaurant, I definitely expected a deeper bowl. But the fish itself was fresh with that nice bouncy texture, plus vermicelli and a solid amount of pickled veggies. They also have a self-serve rice station with both white rice and multigrain rice. The rice cookers even have little signs showing when a new batch is cooking, which I thought was cute and convenient. Overall, flavour wise, it was solid and the promo made it worth the visit. But I am not sure if I'd come back again.

They are known for their sauerkraut fish soup that comes with unlimited self serve rice on the side. Servers were attentive, spacing of the seating and tables were tight. Often times people kept brushing up against my chair while getting up to go get their rounds of rice. Although not a deal breaker, was annoying while trying to enjoy your food. The portions are big enough for 2 if you get a large, but since it was our first time we wanted to try 2 different soups. Here's what we got: Chicken wings 4/5 - Came out raw the first time after we bit into it. But quickly flagged a server to let them know how this issue. They brought us a new one shortly after that was perfectly cooked, juicy and crispy on the outside. Laotan boiled fish with pickled cabbage and chili 4/5 - Their number one classic so we had to try. It's sour and spicy with the right amount of kick to it. Basa fish filets were also tasty. Came out luke warm. Princess's tomato fish 4/5 - Packed with tomato flavour. Savoury and paired well with the basa fish filet. Came with bean curd noodles as well. Came out luke warm. Easily would be a five star review if both soups that we got came out piping hot rather than lukewarm. Regardless, a great spot for a quick in and out meal.
