Gluten-free granola is a highlight. This is the first totally safe açai bowl I've had in Canada…read more They use a coconut rather than oat base, so for all my oat-avoidant celiacs out there, this is a pleasant surprise. It's definitely worth considering taking home a bag of this granola. The predominant milk they use in their lattes is oat (gluten free), but alternatives are available. I've tried a couple of the mushroom lattes, and the Chana Charger is my favourite. The lunch bowls are predominantly gluten free or can easily be adjusted to be so. The produce is always fresh, which allows natural flavours of the ingredients to really come through and make their dishes stand out. The location on 104 St is very accessible from downtown, but if you drive, expect to pay a couple bucks for street parking. With an order at the till and sit anywhere system, it is an accessible place to go on your own and/or get some work done. There is also plenty of space to go with a group or meet for coffee. It was a bit pricey, $22 for my açai bowl and latte, but you definitely get what you pay for. And that's what keeps me coming back!

Now I'll be putting that Wednesday in my calendar every month! Their juice concoctions are amazing and I adore the Edmonton landmark themed names! Storefront entrance is small but clean and welcoming. Street parking right out front no problem. On top of the customer appreciation discount (which is for regularly prices items) they also had some extra discounted juice. Summary: Blackmud Creek: charcoal lemonade was sweet and tart Ice District: that ice blue color and coconut meat was such surprise, reminded me of a bubble tea where you gotta chew your drink which I love. Churchill2: probably the husbands favourite as it was made with the rich mans nut: cashews. Very filling and more like a smoothie so it definitely felt like a meal replacement. WEM: so interesting the matcha flavor and Brazil nuts giving it a full, thick creaminess. Yellow head: we got this one for the kid and it was a simple orange juice that he enjoyed. We also tried the recovery and elderberry shots, but these were not as much to our liking. The recovery shot was exceptionally spicy and potent. Bring the bottles back for a little kickback discount onto your next order!

When I showed up at the store after making a 40 minute drive to the location, I was greeted with hand written sign and closed door. The owner was extremely rude via text to me, telling me that i should just understand that things happen and to expect a refund via a 3rd party app, never once addressing the fact that I wasted so much time, money and otherwise coming in. Only after being told that I'm going to review the experience poorly did she offer to make any sort of resolution but at that point I certainly couldn't trust that the owner wouldn't tamper or taint the product that I was to pick up. The customer service here is appalling, taking a very bold stance of even calling me a liar? Which I truly couldn't understand. I can not stress enough, avoid this location and business. With so many other establishments within Edmonton it would be easy to find a positive experience elsewhere. let's let the power of social reviews teach this owner that proper customer service trumps product or anything else and you can not treat people like this. I'd rate 0/5 if possible. Don't spend a cent here, they don't deserve any community support

It's always kind of surprising that a large, cozy independent cafe like this exists on this part of 124th street, which gets progressively seedier as you travel north towards 118th Ave. My theatre-going companion and I ordered a hot chocolate and a coffee respectively, both of which I'd grade a B-. Not spectacular, but very good. In addition to my coffee, I ordered a slice of some sort of delicious-looking berry and graham cracker square from the cooler filled with trays of individually-wrapped treats, But looks can be deceiving; I bit into it and was greeted with a flavour reminiscent of the post-flood smell of the elementary-school art projects my mom had saved in a box in the basement. Closer inspection of the square revealed large spots of mold that had obviously had at least a few days of time to settle down and procreate. In retrospect, I should never have ordered a saran-wrapped pastry from a huge pile in a shop that can't possibly move more than a handful of them on a regular day. For this particular area, the Sugar Bowl is still your best bet, but if I were to visit again I'd steer clear of the pastry case.

If you visit SUB, you would see the usual establishments like Subway & Edo at the food court but…read morethat's not the case for Juicy. They are located by the elevators near the bookstore, hidden & quiet from the chitchatting of students. They have a decent selection of smoothies along with paninis, ice cream and sandwiches. I decided to give the Berry Forever smoothie a try. Unlike Booster Juice which blends in the juice & sliced fruit, Juicy has it mostly premade, only needing ice before going into the blender. Aside from that, my drink turned out to be pretty good, not too sweet or sour, just right. There's not a whole lot of seating from a couple tables inside and in the hallway but it is a nice hangout place if going with your friends or classmates. Prices at Juicy are reasonable and definitely a cheaper option than the numerous Booster Juice's on the University of Alberta campus.

To be honest, I haven't tried too many of them, because my absolute favourite is the Breakfast Smoothie. It's got your standard smoothing ingredients (orange and banana in this one, I think), but they also add a scoop of oatmeal that makes it taste like you're eating an oatmeal cookie. I love it. They also have sandwiches and soup, making them one of the better lunch choices in SUB.

I went inside and to my right to see a modest counter and glass display case showing off some of the menu items. Two staff were helping a man who, as I later found out was a regular, had a hard time communicating. They were very patient and kind to him, giving him their full attention to complete his order. I scanned their chalkboard menu and saw a few vegan options. I settled on the Vegan Tikki. The cashier took my order and busied herself while I took some pictures and a closer look at their menu. After a few seconds she came back out and asked me how my day was. A common question in the industry, however she said it with an air of sincerity. It was very obvious she enjoyed people and wanted more than a generic answer. She was inquisitive but not intrusive. The eatery has been open since November 2016 and serves a wide variety of tastes with a conservative menu. They also offer catering in the downtown and use as little processed food as possible. Although I'm vegan I was informed that all their meat is prepared and cook on site and not processed. This also applies to all the other ingredients. I took my Tikki sandwhich back to the office and unwrapped the butchers paper it was wrapped in. The aroma of coriander and cumin drifted up to my nose and the yellow gravy dripped over the edges of the soft bun. They say first impressions are important and the same goes for first bites. The rich flavours of the sandwhich made me forget all the worries and stress for the next 10 minutes. I highly recommend you give them a try. With all the hustle of the work day it's nice to stop for something made with love and served by kind people.
