a cup of ice cream on the dashboard of a car

Tasty ice cream in homemade waffle cones. So many decadent flavours. Gluten free and vegan options. A gorgeous store with candy and pop. I felt like a kid again. Espresso is available. Community picnic table on sunny patio. This is an essential addition to the neighbourhood. I parked across the street at the community center.

Delicious little ice cream shop in the Westmount area. I came here on Sunday afternoon and it was very busy. There is some parking along the street. There were about five people ahead of us in the lane but it moved quickly. I wanted to try their dark cherry and lemon curd flavor, however, they were sold out. Instead, I went with the seasonal lychee and the banana honeycomb. I love the banana honeycomb, which is so strange, because it is vegan! The lychee was nice and refreshing but a bit icy. I prefer ice cream that's more creamy than I see but it was still tasty. They have a nice seating area outside and a few seats inside as well. I will definitely go again, and hopefully be able to try their dark cherry lemon curd flavor.

A unique ice cream store in the heart of the Westmount neighborhood. I have been here a couple times for ice cream or coffee. Once I started talking to the owner, I realized what detail and care he takes to put into his homemade ice cream. He will use expensive, real ingredients. His flavours are very unique and delicious. I never thought I would like matcha mint but it's now my favorite. I also really appreciate that he has vegan options. The honeycomb banana is very tasty. On a nice hot summer day, I would recommend ordering the afagato and sitting on his nice patio.

Cute little neighborhood icecream shop! It has a vintage and colourful vibe to it. There is no seating inside but lots of bench seating outside the shop. There were lots of flavours to choose from and also seasonal flavours. They offer kids, single, double scoop and quand taster. I wanted to try many flavours so I orders the quad taster $9.50 so I could try 4 types. The flavours I chose were the seasonal mango passion pavlova, strawberry balsamic and the regular Brazilian Canadian coffee and Tres Leches. All the flavours were on point and I really enjoyed them.

Tried this last night with the hubby and definitely wasn't disappointed. The flavours here are creative and well done. I personally prefer a creamier style of ice cream rather than a more crystallized milk version, but Twice Cream hits that nostalgic mark with elevated flavours that bring the whole package home.

I made a special trip here due to all of the rave reviews I was reading online. The first thing I noticed was how cozy the place is. It looks to be a converted garage, with a patio and lots of chalk art on the pavement. An entire wall is filled with sweets and other fun things, and there is a cooler with specialty pop and other drinks. But the main star here is the ice cream. I had a single scoop split between two flavours, the tres leches cake and the rosewater pistachio, which is one of the specialties here. I'm not a huge fan of pistachio but the unsalted nuts worked well with the rosewater ice cream, which is a flavour I have enjoyed before but is not common. The tres leches tasted heavily of coconut and had cake bits. The two flavours worked well together. There was one vegan option, and a couple of rotating flavours, and about eight "forever" flavours. Service is a bit slow - there was only one person scooping ice cream and there can be line ups on hot days - but Twice Cream is worth seeking out.

Very cute hidden spot ! Great waffle cones. Delicious ice cream. It was a bit odd when the staff told me there is caffeine in the coffee ice cream (I didn't know that was a question lol) nice portions, 1 scoop is more than enough. They also sell ice cream to go and other candy cane style candies. You can sit outdoors at the ice cream shop ! Definetly a cute place to bring your friends and family!

Oh goodness, it is a whole store by Duchess filled with the most amazing, well like the name says: Provisions! There are cookie, cake and pie making equipment. They even have a wall stocked with jams, honeys, caramels, chocolates, nuts, salts, sugars and other high end, super must have ingredients to wow your taste buds (and show off to your dinner guests!) I bought a delightful crystallized honey as well as a jar of salted caramel that is so amazing it could be drizzled on a dust bunny and make it taste divine! I also added to my insane cookie-cutter collection, which I hide from my other half so he doesn't think I'm Kitchen Cuckoo! Oh, wait... I think he's on to me ;) This is definitely a must visit store if you are a culinary wizard, or just like to wing-it! It is a go-to destination to pick up that perfect hostess gift or for your super foodie friend. And even a $4 jar of something, in its beautiful package, will make anyone feel like a Duke or a Duchess!

I'll be honest I haven't tried the sorbet, but the other two flavours are delicious. They also have four rotating seasonal flavours that change each month, and one of those will be vegan and so good for me. This month November 2025 the vegan flavour is Poached Pear and Brown Sugar Streusal. It is heavenly and I went to Made By Marcus two days in a row for this. You can get most of their flavours in to-go pints and I'm pretty tempted to pick this up. Downside to Made By Marcus is the line outside will be crazy in the summer. Yelo'd is Whyte Ave's famed…read moreFilipino and Asian inspired ice cream shop and I have heard nothing but rave reviews about them since they opened in 2018. Named Favourite Dessert on the Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2022 list, "yelo" means ice in Tagalog... And this shop is going to change your whole ice cream world. Located in Old Strathcona, Yelo'd used to be located down the street (on the other side of the tracks) in a much smaller space. They have since moved right into the action and are now in a gorgeous historic building, adding so much to the vibrancy of the avenue. I've watched this building (originally the Dominion Hotel built in 1903) struggle over the years to find the right combination of business tenants and I think that they've finally done it! The interior of the shop is large and spacious but the most striking feature is the elaborately decorated Victorian wooden porch at the entrance. You can just picture yourself sitting out there on a hot summer day with a delicious ice cream in hand, taking in the sights of Whyte Ave. The vibe inside is a bit more modern with gleaming pastry and ice cream cases, mural-covered walls, and neon lighting. The colour scheme leans purple which makes complete sense once you realize that ube (purple yam) is the signature flavour at Yelo'd. The shop feels bright and fresh, exuding an upbeat atmosphere while still maintaining a specific identity. I visited on a Sunday afternoon with the intention to taste and experience as much of Yelo'd as I possibly could! There was only one employee serving us and she was incredibly gracious as we proceeded to bombard her with our large and varied order. I certainly appreciated her efficiency and kindness. Before we even begin the topic of ice cream, it bears mentioning that Yelo'd offers a whole cafe menu of various coffees. This also includes tropical sodas and milkshakes. You could honestly visit just for the cafe aspect and to sit with a delicious beverage (and yes, I will be doing this). Most drinks can be made hot or iced which is handy depending on the season outside. I was drawn to their Iced Ube Latte ($5.50) which seemed like a great way to carry the purple theme into my coffee. Swirls of purple ube syrup mingled with the coffee and milk. It wasn't long before the entire beverage wore a violet hue. I liked this coffee a lot. It was sweet in just the way that I like it and I believe that it may have been made with evaporated milk which would also account for some of the sweetness. The ube flavour (and colour) made this beverage interesting and unique. I could see myself ordering one of these regularly, both hot and cold. Yelo'd also makes this same latte with pandan or yema, which I'm sure are equally delicious. I also noticed that there are seasonal drinks to choose from and that there's a secret staff drink menu??! Clearly, I have a lot more to discover in terms of sips at Yelo'd! There are so many exciting ice cream options at Yelo'd!! Not only do they offer a wide range of hard ice cream but their soft serve has become pretty famous in its own right. However, there's even more beyond that because they make sundaes and ice cream sandwiches as well. No matter what you're craving, they've certainly got you covered. One of the main things that I wanted to try was their straight-up Ube Soft Serve on a charcoal Waffle Cone ($6.50). Yelo'd usually has two soft serve flavours on the go at all times which rotate, but they always keep ube on hand. You can get one solid flavour or a swirl of two. On my visit the second flavour was macapuno (coconut). I decided to forgo the swirl because I really just wanted to try their ube soft serve all on its own (and in all of its glory). This perfectly simple cone was magic. The quality of the soft serve was top-notch and ultra creamy without an ice crystal in sight. The flavour of the ube was nutty and somewhat similar to vanilla, captured wonderfully on this cone. Of course the violaceous colour is part of what makes it so much fun! I loved the crunchy and sweet waffle cone, the charcoal black acting in striking colour contrast. This soft serve is some of the best in the whole city, if not just the overall best. (I sometimes go around saying that hard ice cream is "over" and this soft serve only convinced me further.) Next, I had to try the most popular item on the menu and the dessert synonymous with the Philippines; Halo Halo (Philippine shaved ice with jellies, jackfruit, coconut strings, red beans + your choice of soft ice cream or scoop - $12.00). I find it incredibly exciting that halo halo has arrived in Edmonton and that there are a few places to try it these days. "Halo halo" means mix-mix in Tagalog, which is exactly what the dessert entails - a mix of ingredients that you get to mix together! It's like a big Filipino sundae filled with an array of flavours and textures. Halo halo can be prepared in a bunch

I love how the flavors offered are unique and it stuck to the theme of Filipino icecream. I tried the Matcha Berry and the Keso+Ube cake. The keso+ube cake was so yummy and it was the perfect sweetness. I especially liked the ube cake as it added a delightful texture to the icecream. I wasn't that big of a fan of the Matcha Berry since it was more sour tasting and the matcha wasn't that strong. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back to try more flavours though. The truck doesn't have a fixed location so remember to check their Instagram page before going.
