I stopped in to buy my favourite macaroons from where else, Duchess, when low and behold there is a store next door. Oh goodness, it is a whole store by Duchess filled with the most amazing, well like the name says: Provisions! There are cookie, cake and pie making equipment. A How-To kit for duplicating their famous macaroons. All the gadgets one would need to bake a masterpiece are in this delicious little side venture. They even have a wall stocked with jams, honeys, caramels, chocolates, nuts, salts, sugars and other high end, super must have ingredients to wow your taste buds (and show off to your dinner guests!) I bought a delightful crystallized honey as well as a jar of salted caramel that is so amazing it could be drizzled on a dust bunny and make it taste divine! I also added to my insane cookie-cutter collection, which I hide from my other half so he doesn't think I'm Kitchen Cuckoo! Oh, wait... I think he's on to me ;) This is definitely a must visit store if you are a culinary wizard, or just like to wing-it! It is a go-to destination to pick up that perfect hostess gift or for your super foodie friend. And even a $4 jar of something, in its beautiful package, will make anyone feel like a Duke or a Duchess! read more

I love Edmonton born stores especially when they offer excellent customer service and carry quality products. As I entered this store, at their new location, the first thing that caught my eye were their displays. They are like little pieces of art telling stories about the items they carry. They have a kids section inspiring fun ideas on how to engage kids in the kitchen. There is a wide selection of flours, sugars and other baking gems (some organic and some not). They carry cookware, bakeware, bread making products, books, teas, chocolates, extracts and compounds, preserves, canning supplies, mixers, cake stands, serveware, kitchen linens, aprons and so much more. With Christmas approaching this is an excellent place to find gifts. And if you're hungry, Café Linnea is definitely worth a try next door. read more

I think every speciality hobby should have a speciality shop like Provisions. A great place to browse and argue with the owner over Ladurée vs Pierre Hermé macarons, it has raised the bar of Edmonton in ways only Duchess bakeshop had, in the past. The ingredients available here are the best you can ask for. They are the best there is. While the store is clean and organized, don't be fooled by its size. There are lots of things available here, whether you like to bake cookies, cakes, make ice creams and gelatos, bake brioches, or are a recipe book hoarder. Get your Anita's flour (super expensive, but excellent) here, or your bergamot extract - because we all need that, don't we? ;-) - or, a good quality baker's blade! The best thing about this store is that they carry the highest quality products in every department of baking. Instead of spending hours sifting through pointless books on baking, they just carry the best ones here. Of course, while they are the best in my opinion, they also tend to be some of the most traditional and painstaking ways of making things. I believe they are the only shop in Edmonton that sells patinas. I've looked for bread patinas for a while, so this was a great find for me. I don't bake. I never have. So I never thought I would step foot in this shop. However, I do make Icecream and only the best home made Icecream was going to do for a going away party for one of my favorite people. This is where Provisions comes in with heavenly Salted Caramel, perfectly fine sugar, vanilla bean, chocolate and enough inspiration to have me attempt Macarons on a later date. Salted Caramel Vanilla Icecream with chocolate shavings is now the new standard for homemade Icecream in my house. Thanks to their amazing ingredients it turned out perfectly and I should have made twice as much! This store is a beautiful extension of Duchess. They have many recipe books and baking kits and quality ingredients as well as cooking cutters, sheets, and really beautiful cake stands. I want to learn to make cake now just so I have an excuse to buy a stand! I will be back here the next time I need a jar of Salted Caramel to go or if I ever decide a whole cookie sheet of macarons for one girl is a good idea! read more

I am ecstatic that Duchess opened Provisions. I seriously don't think there is a happier person in all of YEG. I adore Duchess with my whole heart, and I will extend the same love for it's sister Provisions. So much amazing stuff here: macaroon kits, cook books, jams and jellys, different types of flours, what more could you possible ask for? There is everything you need to make tasty french treats all in one store. Plus if you are hungry you can go next door to pick up some goodies! Not only will you be able to tackle any baking endeavour after visiting this store, many of the items would make lovely gifts. Everything on this store feels like it is on display, the packaging is perfect and it makes you feel like all warm and fuzzy inside. I just want to wander and get lost in this store. Provisions is my favourite kitchen store in Edmonton, no question. It isn't huge and it doesn't have 50 different kinds of the same item, but you can trust that what it does have will be fantastic. And despite the specialty nature of the store, the prices of most items aren't outrageous (especially considering the quality). The service is always top notch and they even sell frozen pie dough, chocolate, salted caramel and baking books to put it all together. Provisions by Duchess can be dangerous. I always take a look in here when I'm at Duchess for some treats, but I have to turn my self-control on high in order to not buy anything. I've picked up a few things here, and I might own half the shop if I went more often. They have a great selection of good quality baking products and tools, as well as flours, extracts and jams. The prices are pretty reasonable too, given the quality of the products. They also sell kits for making your own Duchess products at home, although I haven't tried them out. read more

Provisions has quickly become a local gem and a place I turn to when I need top quality ingredients. High end salts, the best vanillas, chocolates, and a whole bunch of great local flours plus ones that would appeal to the gluten free crowd highlight the kind of stuff you can expect to find here. This shop really exceeded my expectations -- and after being a patron of Duchess for a few years, those expectations were set pretty high! My first visit to Provisions was a delight. I never saw it pre-renovations, but the new store is a beautiful, clean bakeware store that's well-stocked without being too crowded. In addition to great baking tools and recipe books, Provisions also boasts collections of spices, extracts, food decorations, and dried fruits. Items like lavender extract which I had no idea where to find in the city are now readily available in my new favorite specialty shop! I was happy to see the prices were reasonable, as I worried hard-to-come-by items would be pricey. This is a really great store to get a gift for a foodie relative or friend. I don't know too much about this store, but have purchased several small gifts there. It is on the pricey side, but they have beautiful items and obscure flavors to add to baking that I haven't seen at other stores. I have seen a good variety of cookbooks, chocolate, cake stands, bakeware and tools, flavorings, flours, and more. Seriously the only place in to go in Edmonton for so many things - chocolate, baking books, extracts, organic nuts, and sheet gelatin are my usual vices. Good luck finding tonka beans anywhere else, let alone at such reasonable prices! Also an amazing loyalty program - just by giving them your name and phone number, you build up a cash account of store credit amazingly fast, and they've never called me to harass me with marketing in 4+ years.
