Always busy bakery. Savoury products are excellent - esp this week's focaccia with roasted tomatoes. Definitely an 9/10! Montreal style bagels are excellent but only available on Thursdays. Love the new cheese scone and onion scone. Sweets are hit or miss and given the higher price, not something I regularly buy. Service is friendly and fast. Always busy bakery. I love this bakery! I have been going there since I moved to Edmonton and they always have high quality and delicious products! In my last visit, I had to wait about 20 minutes in the line that shows how popular this bakery is. I went for a couple of items but they had so many amazing items that I could not resist and I ended up coming out with 15 items!!! The bakery looks like an old fashion bakery that gives it even more character! I don't think this business really needs my recommendation but if you haven't been there, put that on your list! :) They are really good! read more

This bakery is worth stopping by when on the west end of the city. They consistently have fresh, high quality breads and desserts. The staff are friendly and helpful! On this visit, I purchased a key lime tart and cheese bagels. The tart wasn't too sweet and the crust was perfect! The bagels were large and soft on the inside. Highly recommended! read more

The baked goods are excellent here and you can tell by the lineups. It's a medium sized shop with a variety of higher end quality baked goods. Ambiance is cozy. Strictly take out. The sourdough bread is excellent. They have deluxe cinnamon buns with raisins, brownies with nuts, high end fruit cakes with nuts. I like nuts. Most coffee shops don't serve pastries with nuts. They have icing cakes. You have to take a number and wait. Staff were friendly. There is free parking. They also have canned good like sardines. Who knew! The pastries are so much better than the Italian Market. I do not like the cheap pastries at the Italian market. read more

I stopped by this bakery recently to buy some dessert. They follow COVID protocols and have someone at the door to ensure the right amount of people enter the store. The bakery is fairly big and there were a wide variety of items to choose from. I ordered a piece of coffee cake and flourless orange cake. The coffee cake had a very strong coffee flavour and was creamy on the inside. The orange cake was soft and moist. Both tasted great and were not too sweet. I would love to try more of their deserts in the future. The bakery also decided to give me a free sampler of one of their bakery items which was a delightful surprise. Overall my visit here was quite pleasant and service was friendly! read more

Excellent service, great product, location is easily accessible. I have enjoyed every visit and every purchase!

Love the bread and the bagels, but one too many times in the last few years I have purchased rather lacklustre treats from Bon Ton. Still-frozen macarons, terrible hard and powdery meringues (they went in the bin they were so bad) and then the chococroissant I bought as a gift were burnt and unedible on the bottom. There is absolutely zero excuse for putting burnt product on the shelf in the first place, then to sell it to people and somehow not notice that the bottoms are scorched as you are bagging them? Yeesh. Stick to the breads and get your bakery treats elsewhere, we have many great bakeries in Edmonton where you can purchase really good quality treats. I've been burned too many times at Bon Ton to hazard it again. Perhaps quality is being replaced by volume, it's a busy wee place, although their service ticket system and increased staffing have gone a long way in dealing with the chaos of customers. read more

This bakery has everything and more, it is not small like most bakeries and sells sauces, jams, specialty salt, chocolate and tons of baked goods. I walked in and was overwhelmed by the amount of products you can purchase. It's located in a strip mall with lots of parking and has been here for the longest time. The cinnamon buns are delicious, cookies are sold in packages of 6 perfect for gift-giving, individually or by the dozen. Bread and buns are behind the counter, cold desserts such as tarts, cakes and cake slices are in the showcase and they all look fresh and yummy. The cakes can be made larger but you need to order at 7-10 days in advance. There were quite a few people shopping after work but there were lots of items so no need to fear of them running out! Lots of staff working too so service was very quick. Take your time to check everything out and you might buy more than you planned! read more

Our office loves their cakes- the carrot cake and the black forest cake are two of our favourites and they are to die for. They are loaded with fresh ingredients in generous amounts. They are using cream cheese and butter, and less sugar so you can enjoy a full piece after lunch guilt free especially with Christmas around the corner. Great bakery and accommodating staff. read more

The sense of community revolving Bon Ton is astounding. The relationship this little bakery has with the locals show to hold strong and genuine. Patrons coming back weekly for the aromatic baked goods along with the bonus of friendly faces! Caramel eclair - $4.75 - - not the best eclair I've had. The coating on the top was really gooey and messy, rather than coating the actual pastry, it basically slipped off entirely once taking a bite. Also expected more filling inside the shell but was sadly disappointment with how sparse and empty it was after my first bite. Macarons - $1.95ea - 4/5 - Expectations for their macarons were a bit low to start with how mixed the reviews were. Thankfully I chose to try them for myself because damn, these were pretty good. Not top tier but definitely satisfied the craving. Flavor wise everything was pretty standard, the shells were so pretty and delicate though which made them that much more appealing. Red Velvet macaron is also to die for. Bon Ton is so close to home and I'm so glad I tried it out, finally. Yeah, I'll probably come back for more of their macarons, and I'm also dying to pick up some tarts and pies to try next time too! read more

The Bon Ton always has good baking. They also have delicious dips. Service is excellent

Wow, this place is packed with delicious looking bread and baked treats! We stopped here on an random Saturday evening just before they were closing. My initial plan was just to get coffee here, but they had already shut down their machine unfortunately. After looking around for a bit, I decided I had to try a blackberry crostata and a carrot cake as they both looked super delicious. I also really like the ticket system that they use as it ensures everyone gets served when it gets busy. The carrot cake was absolutely amazing! It was not too sweet and has just the right amount of frosting. The blackberry crostata was incredible as well and the sweet and tart flavours were well balanced. I wish now that I had bought some macarons and some sourdough bread as well! Oh well, I'll just have to go back :) read more

Bon Ton Bakery - Cake day! - Bakeries Near Me - Edmonton, Alberta

Have tried the citron poppy loaf, cheesecake, hazelnut cake and multi grain buns. They were all great. I especially love the loaf - the tartness and sweetness is well balanced. There is always a line up whenever i drop by, even on weekdays. Also, their products do not last on the shelves so make sure to go there before noon for more options. When i went there once after 3pm, only a few items left. If you wanted to ensure on getting a specific item, order online for pick up the next day. In addition, all the staff were very accommodating and friendly and won't rush you on ordering. All the times ive been there, i needed to go around around first to see whats left and also bec i did not know what i wanted. They gave me space and let me take my time. read more

Wide selection of good things to eat. Good variety of sourdough breads! Tasty products.

Bon Ton Bakery is one of Edmonton's oldest and most established bakeries. It sells a variety of breads, cookies, cakes, pastries, and other baked goods with distinctive flavours and textures. Some of the classic items here include the danishes, which come in a variety of flavours and have a buttery, flaky dough to them. Other old favourites include the large, soft flax cookies (a meal in themselves), ginger bread, rum cake (with a thick, pink, rum-flavoured coating), and sugar cookies with happ faces (a childhood staple of mine). In recent years, Bon Ton has become more conscious of health and the environment. The store is powered using natural energy, and the selection of breads include numerous healthy options using grains and omegas. Bon Ton is one of the few places in Edmonton where you can get a decent challah, which is a traditional Jewish egg loaf. Bon Ton also has a few coolers full of spreads and light foods, many of which are locally made. read more

Memories of Bon Ton include my dad getting pastries here for an occasional treat and they looked and tasted delicious. Fast forward more than 20 years and I find myself in the bakery on a Saturday morning. It's a bustle of activity with close to 20 people inside. They have a ticket system which is easy and not chaotic. While waiting for my number to be called, I wandered the store. There were samples including bread with oils and hummus, and a few different sweet treats to choose from. It was only a few minutes and my number was called. The line moved quickly with about 4-5 people assisting customers. I ordered a few mini cinnamon buns (75 cents each), and a pretzel ($1.25), and bought a bag of the 600g granola ($10.95). There was more savoury and sweet treats (cakes, and flans if you are looking for dessert for an occasion) but I will save those for my next visit. It's wonderful this bakery is still operating and so busy! I can create my own Bon Ton memories now! read more

Best lil' Bakery this side of the city. West end delights !! BonTon added a Sandwich & Coffee Bar last year. This was a welcome addition to those of us looking to grab our weekly treats & a fan-freaking tastic speciality drink in one stop. You'll be given a tasty little cookie with each coffee purchase. I've been shopping here bi-weekly for 12 years. TIP: Order your Paska in time for Easter / other seasonal favourites available as the seasons change. TIP: TAKE A NUMBER TIP: PIES LIKE SASKATOON BERRY are seasonal & in high demand. They are also my favourite hostess gift! The fruit combinations are so good! I also love their classic oatmeal raisin monster cookies & shortbread (available all season) in-fact, i purchase a few hostess / other gifts here every few months. Artisanal, home made style jelly, jams, preserves, sauces & so so much more. It's a great place to come browse, shop, nibble samples! BonTon supports local. Stocking items from our city friends like Pinocchio ice cream. read more

Not the friendliest of service. Went in to ask a question and nobody even acknowledged my presence. Maybe it was my fault for not grabbing a number. My suggestion is to grab a number even if you just have a quick question or they will avoid you completely. On a positive note their cheese cake looks yummy! But they have no dairy/lactose free products (my quick question) Just be kind to people. Say hi and if they forget to grab a number just remind them. Not everybody is with it all of the time. read more

The olive sticks are my favourite. Lemon tart with meringue is second to none. It's made with a short crust vs pastry so it's double yummy. I was disappointed in the oatmeal raisin cookies. Too gummy for my liking and the ginger barley are a pass. Not enough gingery goodness. Stay away on Saturday! Too busy. Breads are always fantastic read more

Always tasty baking goods. Service quick and easy to order quality items. Best jelly rolls ever!! Order ahead!!

Great sourdough, pastries, and collections of other unique groceries that accompany the baked goods.

I've been going to this bakery for eons! Wonderful bread, bagels, and specialty jams and chutneys. Their rye and challah are outstanding.

Large selection of treats. If you are a first timer can be overwhelming and they really try to rush you to pick what you want. Got a delicious, rich birthday cake, awesome date squares and some other pastries. Will be back as it was very hurried to see everything available. read more

Bon Ton Bakery - Coffee flavoured cake with chocolate ganache. - Bakeries Near Me - Edmonton, Alberta

Anytime someone mentions Bon Ton Bakery, I am instantly filled with delicious childhood memories of cookies, croissants and cakes laced with the aroma of fresh baked goods. And yes, I mean childhood memories, because Bon Ton has been around much longer than I have been alive. What makes Bon Ton standout? Well, firstly, the pies. This is not your average apple pie. This bakery staple marries apples and plums with an intricately woven, perfectly flaky crust. If you get a chance to try the sour cherry and peach pie - take it. It is delicious. Another standout feature is their overwhelming selection of artisanal breads and baked goods. The croissants and biscotti are two of my favorites. Lastly, the bakery is located on the west-end away from the hustle of downtown traffic. It is easy to get to, with parking available in front. Staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable. If you haven't yet, put it on your list of must-visit places in the city. read more

This bakery is dangerously in the same plaza as my vet, so whenever I'm dropping my cat off for something I'm tempted to look in on their tasty treats. They seem to have a decent selection of sweet baked goods, although the one cookie I tried was fine but nothing special. It looks as if their breads and savory goods are their actual specialty. What I buy most often is their roast garlic hummus, which is deliciously garlicky and very recommended! read more

Five stars! We don't live anywhere convenient to make Bon Ton a regular stop but it was absolutely adorable and we had a wonderful experience. We picked out a box full of treats to take to a friend along with a few loaves of bread for home. The almond croissant was a favourite - flaky and delicious! We purchased 4 slices of cake and some macarons. The raspberry passion slice was described as "the best piece of cake I have ever had in Canada" by my daughter. The mille feuille was amazing as well. The macarons were also very good, the pistachio one I tried was perfect. We will definitely be back in the future to try out some of there other backed goods. I love the sausage rolls that Bon Ton makes. A friend recommended them several years ago and I've never forgotten. Sadly I didn't see any today. This is the "destination bakery" in Edmonton. There used to be another destination bakery in Old Strathcona but it closed years ago. Bon Ton is big, and they have a lot of bread types plus others that are only made on certain days. I think that they even sell white bread from the bottom shelf but why go to a bakery for white bread? There are long rows of pastries under the counter and recently they started a sandwich bar but there are no tables here. I haven't tried the sandwich bar yet. You must take a number from the ticket dispenser upon arriving but even then it's usually quite busy so you'll have to wait a bit to be served. I've brought breads and pastries here for years and have always been satisfied with the product. It's certainly not the cheapest place in the city but for sheer variety Bon Ton has no equal. There is parking and it's usually busy and yet I've always found a spot near the bakery. Service is helpful and polite. Depending on your tastes you may find a better product elsewhere but, more likely than not, Bon Ton's breads are as good as the best Edmonton has to offer. I can honestly say that after coming here for years I am sure that I've never been the only customer in the store. That says a lot about their product. read more

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS BAKERY!!! Coming from Montreal, I did not think I would ever find a bakery in Edmonton that produced the very finest baked goods, the kind of baking as superb as Montreal is known for, but I was wrong. When I discovered Bon Ton Bakery several years ago now, I was greatly impressed. I was so impressed that I was willing to drive all the way from Millwoods to their west end location to purchase their products. Over the years, Bon Ton's baking products seem to have gotten better and better and more and more innovative. Breads, pastries, pies, everything they produce is of the highest quality and supremely delicious. If you haven't tried Bon Ton, you're missing out on a delicious experience. read more

I was in the neighbourhood so dropped into Bon Ton last week. They must have new management. Gone is the quality in favour of quantity. I purchased chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies and a pumpkin pie. The cookies were rock hard and tasteless. Too much cheap filler. The pie crust was bizarre, almost wax-like: translucent and tasteless. Such garbage. I will never set foot in Bon Ton bakery again. read more

Bon Ton is a classic! I grew up eating Bon Ton and make it back most times I come back home. It was always a good Saturday to wake up and someone had already brought raspberry turnovers back. It's still going strong. The croissants are above average and the danishes are good (especially cheese, and poppy) although they could have a crisper crust. The bread is good too, especially the cheese bread, although nothing terribly special. Try to grab the end piece if you get the cinnamon bread. Just a classic, really good neighbourhood place I love coming back to. read more

I have only stopped into Bon Ton a handful of times and mostly for the bread. However, this time I tried the flourless chocolate truffle cake for my husband's birthday and it was definitely a hit.The flourless cake is a great option if you have someone in your party that may be celiac or wheat allergy, and it seems like they have some other gluten free treats as well! The almond sponge was not overly dry, as some gluten free desserts sometimes tend to be. The chocolate ganache was rich but not overly sweet. I would definitely stop in again in the future to try other desserts and treats they have available! read more
