Pear and cheese and After 8.
    Jennie L.

Nice place to grab some gelato. They have a great selection and a lot of interesting flavours. I decided to go with the pear and brie which was refreshing and amazing. I also went with the After 8. It was okay but the mint was overwheming and not enough chocolate to balance it. However, I would for sure come back here again. It is small, and I can't say it would be comfortable to sit and have a long engaged chat. It is more of a place to grab and go. Service was okay but probably could use some more training.

You're allowed to trial 3 flavours before making a purchase! They have a lot of unique flavours like 'pear and brie'. I got the figs and cheese and that was an absolute hit. I'd go back for some more!

This is a little gem to visit for gelato, ice cream, sherbert; along with specialty coffees or teas. They have a fair amount of options of deliciousness made to make you taste buds water! The location is very small, but they do have a small seating area to sit and enjoy a cold desert or cold/hot drink of your choice. They sell the gelato in tubs if you wish to grab and go as well. The restaurant is clean, and the service was fast during our visit. I would happily go here again.

Delicious gelato. Creamy and super flavourful. So many flavors to choose from. AUTHENTIC. This small joint on jasper avenue is a gem. They opened their first shop in florence italy. And miraculously the second was in edmonton. The gelato is authentic. I have been to italy and extensively sampled gelato all over the country. And ate it until i was sick before leaving. They have the typical popular flavours like chocolate, ferraro, and etc. But what i like is that they are quite inventful and have many flavours not offered anywhere else. Banana gelato was my favourite in italy and i have never been able to find it anywhere else. But la carriaia has it! My suggestion is to stick with the fruit flavours. The flavours are more intense and really are unique to this brand. I have never had a strawberry gelato as flavourful as this one. The best part of the gelato here are the chunks of fruit or nuts in every bite. This place is my go to place every time i drive by.

I couldn't believe it when I saw this their freezer... The flavours were authentic and not too sweet. It was the perfect cool Mediterranean treat for the 32 degree weather.

One of the best gelato places downtown - it's this or La Chocolaterie on 124 St, and this is much more convenient for central downtown. It's a small place but they typically have a big selection of gelato in a variety of delicious flavours. There are some vegan options as well as a wider choice of standard (milk-based) gelatos. A great option for a hot summer day!

    Just admirable!!

One of the best gellato in Edmonton. You can rest up and just take a break while having their lovely gellato!

We've been experiencing a bit of a heat wave the last while in Edmonton so having a gelataria around the corner from my office is awesome! And conveniently enough, today I didn't bring a lunch to work and decided at +25, gelato would make the perfect lunch. They have a wide variety of flavours available, that can be seen on the board outside their store front. However, in store, they only had about half of them. It's possible they rotate flavours or have them hiding in the back, but I didn't ask because the one I wanted was in the display case. They also have tiramisu, baked treats, and espresso drinks; however, I came for the gelato today I had one scoop of the toasted almond in a cup and it was exactly what I was hoping for. Super creamy, fresh with nutty notes and slivers of blanched almonds! You can also have the gelato in a cone, but I am a cup girl.. and if you are having a difficult time choosing between the options, dont be shy to ask for a sample/taste. The girl working was super friendly and helpful! The decor is super fresh and bright and there are a couple tables inside as well as out on the patio, so no matter the weather, you can can enjoy your gelato comfortably! I'll certainly be back for other flavours in the future and this was definitely a great way to do lunch on a Friday!

Love the selection of flavours - I have never seen so many gelato choices before, including vegan ones. However, I opted for a gelato milkshake, as I was hot and thirsty. For $8, it was a very small cup, and the shake was very loose (I expect a milkshake to be thicker). I do plan to return and will stick with the scoops.

I've never had gelato so good before. I've also never been to Italy. But I wouldn't doubt this must be quality stuff. The only La Carraia in Canada. Ingredients imported from Italy and no artificial garbage. I sampled about 6 different flavours and it was hard to pick just one. So I picked two. The fig and the yogurt Nutella. I honestly can't wait to go back for more. I can only describe it as what I would imagine eating clouds to be like. And best of all, this place is open EVERY DAY and LATE! Don't wait for warm weather. Live every day to the fullest. Go get yourself some gelato.

Couldn't CONE-trol myself and had to stop by for a scoop while in the area. This is my third time here and tried lemon, pistachio, tiramisu, and pineapple. All were true to flavour, creamy and tastes genuine to gelatos I've tried in Italy. It's a small store with limited seats. Not an issue during winter time though :)

Yelo'd is Whyte Ave's famed…read moreFilipino and Asian inspired ice cream shop and I have heard nothing but rave reviews about them since they opened in 2018. Named Favourite Dessert on the Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2022 list, "yelo" means ice in Tagalog... And this shop is going to change your whole ice cream world. Located in Old Strathcona, Yelo'd used to be located down the street (on the other side of the tracks) in a much smaller space. They have since moved right into the action and are now in a gorgeous historic building, adding so much to the vibrancy of the avenue. I've watched this building (originally the Dominion Hotel built in 1903) struggle over the years to find the right combination of business tenants and I think that they've finally done it! The interior of the shop is large and spacious but the most striking feature is the elaborately decorated Victorian wooden porch at the entrance. You can just picture yourself sitting out there on a hot summer day with a delicious ice cream in hand, taking in the sights of Whyte Ave. The vibe inside is a bit more modern with gleaming pastry and ice cream cases, mural-covered walls, and neon lighting. The colour scheme leans purple which makes complete sense once you realize that ube (purple yam) is the signature flavour at Yelo'd. The shop feels bright and fresh, exuding an upbeat atmosphere while still maintaining a specific identity. I visited on a Sunday afternoon with the intention to taste and experience as much of Yelo'd as I possibly could! There was only one employee serving us and she was incredibly gracious as we proceeded to bombard her with our large and varied order. I certainly appreciated her efficiency and kindness. Before we even begin the topic of ice cream, it bears mentioning that Yelo'd offers a whole cafe menu of various coffees. This also includes tropical sodas and milkshakes. You could honestly visit just for the cafe aspect and to sit with a delicious beverage (and yes, I will be doing this). Most drinks can be made hot or iced which is handy depending on the season outside. I was drawn to their Iced Ube Latte ($5.50) which seemed like a great way to carry the purple theme into my coffee. Swirls of purple ube syrup mingled with the coffee and milk. It wasn't long before the entire beverage wore a violet hue. I liked this coffee a lot. It was sweet in just the way that I like it and I believe that it may have been made with evaporated milk which would also account for some of the sweetness. The ube flavour (and colour) made this beverage interesting and unique. I could see myself ordering one of these regularly, both hot and cold. Yelo'd also makes this same latte with pandan or yema, which I'm sure are equally delicious. I also noticed that there are seasonal drinks to choose from and that there's a secret staff drink menu??! Clearly, I have a lot more to discover in terms of sips at Yelo'd! There are so many exciting ice cream options at Yelo'd!! Not only do they offer a wide range of hard ice cream but their soft serve has become pretty famous in its own right. However, there's even more beyond that because they make sundaes and ice cream sandwiches as well. No matter what you're craving, they've certainly got you covered. One of the main things that I wanted to try was their straight-up Ube Soft Serve on a charcoal Waffle Cone ($6.50). Yelo'd usually has two soft serve flavours on the go at all times which rotate, but they always keep ube on hand. You can get one solid flavour or a swirl of two. On my visit the second flavour was macapuno (coconut). I decided to forgo the swirl because I really just wanted to try their ube soft serve all on its own (and in all of its glory). This perfectly simple cone was magic. The quality of the soft serve was top-notch and ultra creamy without an ice crystal in sight. The flavour of the ube was nutty and somewhat similar to vanilla, captured wonderfully on this cone. Of course the violaceous colour is part of what makes it so much fun! I loved the crunchy and sweet waffle cone, the charcoal black acting in striking colour contrast. This soft serve is some of the best in the whole city, if not just the overall best. (I sometimes go around saying that hard ice cream is "over" and this soft serve only convinced me further.) Next, I had to try the most popular item on the menu and the dessert synonymous with the Philippines; Halo Halo (Philippine shaved ice with jellies, jackfruit, coconut strings, red beans + your choice of soft ice cream or scoop - $12.00). I find it incredibly exciting that halo halo has arrived in Edmonton and that there are a few places to try it these days. "Halo halo" means mix-mix in Tagalog, which is exactly what the dessert entails - a mix of ingredients that you get to mix together! It's like a big Filipino sundae filled with an array of flavours and textures. Halo halo can be prepared in a bunch

I wasn't that big of a fan of the Matcha Berry since it was more sour tasting and the matcha wasn't that strong. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back to try more flavours though. The truck doesn't have a fixed location so remember to check their Instagram page before going.
