Made by Marcus ice cream is made using high quality, local ingredients. I like that there are many unique flavours and the rotating menu ensures that there is always something new to try. They offer a split scoop so you can try two flavours. This cute shop is located down an alley, and the service is always fast and friendly. I chose the raspberry rose lychee and lemon curd blueberry ice creams. Both were flavourful!

I LOOOVE made by marcus! Ice cream is always so yummy and always hits the spot (even in the winter)! Service is always friendly as well. The place is small with little to no seating especially in the summer months so definitely not a place to hang out and chill while you savour the ice cream but definitely an Edmonton staple

Amazing artisan ice cream. You can really taste the dairy! Roasted strawberry buttermilk is my favourite!

It's interesting when you see a long line in an alley and it leads you to this lovely ice cream parlor. An eclectic ambiance. Great way to end your night or start your day. Leave it to Marcus to come up with the most unique and perfectly balanced flavours - pictured here: lemon curd blueberry & apple cheddar pie (left) lemon curd blueberry & apricot almond tart (right).

When looking for places to eat while working in Canada, I came across this ice cream place and decided to give it a chance. Being from the States, I was hesitant because it's located on an alley....but man...it was good. The service was great and I had the chance to try some incredible flavors. Definitely satisfied the sweet toot

Location is always so interesting - to have to go down a long alley to find it! Smell is absolutely wonderful as you get closer the smell of fresh baked waffle cones is drool-worthy and you can see them make them fresh as you walk in. I got the kids scoop which was so reasonably priced for the portion I was very happy. Not as many flavors as I remember but I didn't have trouble picking a few I wanted to try! I tried the Moonshine Brown Butter Pecan. I was asked if I had any allergies which is really kind of them to confirm. They also let me know it has real alcohol and if that was okay. It had a lovely caramel sauce in vanilla ice cream flavor. Very light/if at all alcohol taste. Giant pieces of pecans were cool but my preferences would have been if they were diced into bite-sized and more evenly distributed in the ice cream. Friend got the soft serve in a cup - they really need a small size! Soooo much soft serve for $4. Great for sharing - would be a lot of any 1 person. Couple tables inside and benches outside to enjoy the dessert. Overall still one of the BEST unique ice cream places in Alberta.

This is a nice little hidden jem found in an walking alley just off Whyte ave. It is a great place to go during a hot day for a cold treat. (The air conditioning feels great too). You can have the option of a cup of ice cream, a tub of ice cream, or a waffle cones with ice cream. They make the waffle cones fresh right in front on you, and they have many different types of ice cream; including some gluten free and lactose free options, such as a few sorbet or cashew based options for those with dietary restrictions. The service is friendly and fairly fast. I will definitely be going again.

The seasonal apricot almond tart was delicious! Had a kid scoop. They had cake pieces in the icecream too. Line was long and moved slow on a Saturday afternoon but it was worth it!

Really great ice cream. No wonder there are lines out the door. We tried a bunch of flavours but our favourite was the sea salt carmel goat milk and lemon curd blueberry. I also felt the El Tigre was really authentic in flavour. I liked the butternut squash and coffe cake but my husband didn't. WE will be back to try the seasonal flavours.

It's never too cold for ! For ice cream that loves you back, look no further than MADE BY MARCUS. Crafted in Alberta, using dairy from grass-fed cows and real ingredients, the freshest ice cream you'll ever have! The store has popped up in the same building that houses Wilfred's @eatwilfreds in the Brewery District at 10429 121 Street NW, Edmonton. Look at the colour scheme of the interior, it's so, so stunning! Thank you Patricia and the team! You guys are awesome! Best Ice Cream in Alberta!

Single scoop divided into 2 flavors!

Made by Marcus is simply divine! Since discovering the best ice cream in Edmonton during the Fringe, I've brought two additional people here and stood in the entirely worth it long lines! I'm yet to try the skip the line pint option because I always want to sample the current offerings. The quality here is second to none with grass fed cows, small batches, and local ingredients whenever possible. You can get a single scoop split into two flavors or order a flight of 4 small scoops if you just can't decide! Faves for me so far include Chinook Bee Pollen & Lavender, Hansen Moonshine Brown Butter Pecan, and Duchess Earl Grey Financier & Raspberry. Be sure to get a frequent flyer stamp card because once you try Made by Marcus, you'll be back!

Marcus made my mouth merry. We have been hearing about this shop for ages and finally checked it out in the molten hot weather of YEG. It was slightly too hot out in that by the tone we reached a place to sit and eat this there was definitely some ice cream soup going on. I wish there was more seating like right outside the store, but the Strathcona market area wasn't too far. My kid loves ice cream so he was very excited for this but he is more of a plain Jane so we were glad to see a fancy vanilla option for him. He also ended up being a fan of the lemon saffron coconut sorbet. And the flight of ice cream is a wonderful and thoughtful way for customers to experience a multitude of flavors. The seasonal flavours were absolutely memorable as unique and exquisite. We tried the peach blackberry & haberniao which we were pleased to find it reminded us of fuzzy peaches. The Earl Grey and raspberry ended up melting too much to really get any Earl grey flavour, mostly we just tasted raspberry which was too bad. Staff were friendly and quick. No more or they ran out of stamp cards, and it is still encouraged that customers wear a mask. Finding this little gem tucked down the alley was super fun.

Made by Marcus is a delicious little indulgence that's worth it, even at $3 for a single kid's scoop. It might even be worth the line! At least with the funky alleyway location and well-spaced outdoor seating, the wait is tolerable and unobtrusive. The menu is separated into two categories: seasonal and signature. It was hard to choose, the flavour combos all sound so good. Fortunately they offer an ice cream "flight", which is 4 scoops for $9. Perfect for the indecisive, the hungry and those who want to share. Our group tried Malted Chocolate with Honeycomb, Bananas Foster Rum Caramel, Lemon Curd Blueberry, and Toasted Hay & Saskatoon Berry flavours. We didn't try the waffle cones, but they are made fresh, smell great, and cost $1. You have to try the Toasted Hay & Saskatoon Berry while it's available, really unique flavour, lovely toasty taste with a hint of saskatoon. The hay flavour is similar to that of genmai cha (tea with roasted rice), so if you like that you're gonna love this ice cream. We took a pint for the extended Saskatchewan family to try, and everyone from traditional elders to picky kids absolutely loved it. I've never seen a pint of ice cream disappear so quickly! Totally worth the $8. I do wish there had been more saskatoon in it however, it was mostly a few streaks of syrup, no actual berries. The malted chocolate with honeycomb had a great malt taste, one of my fave flavours that you don't see much anymore. One piece of honeycomb was a bit salty though, it's chocolate coated and then salted, and I happened to get a bad chunk. I thought the bananas Foster was quite understated, not as rich a banana flavour as I expected. My friends liked the lemon curd blueberry and wished they had got 2 scoops. They liked that it was a bit tart and not too sweet. I like that you can buy little and big containers to go, and plan to bring more fun flavours to our Sunday family dinners. You can also try free samples (metal spoons not plastic, yay), but maybe take it easy until the line-ups die down. Summary: Really good ice cream, thoughtful and fun flavours, and it's not overly expensive. Great addition to Whyte Ave, I hope it becomes a permanent resident!

They even have a wall stocked with jams, honeys, caramels, chocolates, nuts, salts, sugars and other high end, super must have ingredients to wow your taste buds (and show off to your dinner guests!) I bought a delightful crystallized honey as well as a jar of salted caramel that is so amazing it could be drizzled on a dust bunny and make it taste divine! I also added to my insane cookie-cutter collection, which I hide from my other half so he doesn't think I'm Kitchen Cuckoo! Oh, wait... It is a go-to destination to pick up that perfect hostess gift or for your super foodie friend. Yelo'd is Whyte Ave's famed…read moreFilipino and Asian inspired ice cream shop and I have heard nothing but rave reviews about them since they opened in 2018. Named Favourite Dessert on the Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2022 list, "yelo" means ice in Tagalog... And this shop is going to change your whole ice cream world. Located in Old Strathcona, Yelo'd used to be located down the street (on the other side of the tracks) in a much smaller space. They have since moved right into the action and are now in a gorgeous historic building, adding so much to the vibrancy of the avenue. I've watched this building (originally the Dominion Hotel built in 1903) struggle over the years to find the right combination of business tenants and I think that they've finally done it! The interior of the shop is large and spacious but the most striking feature is the elaborately decorated Victorian wooden porch at the entrance. You can just picture yourself sitting out there on a hot summer day with a delicious ice cream in hand, taking in the sights of Whyte Ave. The vibe inside is a bit more modern with gleaming pastry and ice cream cases, mural-covered walls, and neon lighting. The colour scheme leans purple which makes complete sense once you realize that ube (purple yam) is the signature flavour at Yelo'd. The shop feels bright and fresh, exuding an upbeat atmosphere while still maintaining a specific identity. I visited on a Sunday afternoon with the intention to taste and experience as much of Yelo'd as I possibly could! There was only one employee serving us and she was incredibly gracious as we proceeded to bombard her with our large and varied order. I certainly appreciated her efficiency and kindness. Before we even begin the topic of ice cream, it bears mentioning that Yelo'd offers a whole cafe menu of various coffees. This also includes tropical sodas and milkshakes. You could honestly visit just for the cafe aspect and to sit with a delicious beverage (and yes, I will be doing this). Most drinks can be made hot or iced which is handy depending on the season outside. I was drawn to their Iced Ube Latte ($5.50) which seemed like a great way to carry the purple theme into my coffee. Swirls of purple ube syrup mingled with the coffee and milk. It wasn't long before the entire beverage wore a violet hue. I liked this coffee a lot. It was sweet in just the way that I like it and I believe that it may have been made with evaporated milk which would also account for some of the sweetness. The ube flavour (and colour) made this beverage interesting and unique. I could see myself ordering one of these regularly, both hot and cold. Yelo'd also makes this same latte with pandan or yema, which I'm sure are equally delicious. I also noticed that there are seasonal drinks to choose from and that there's a secret staff drink menu??! Clearly, I have a lot more to discover in terms of sips at Yelo'd! There are so many exciting ice cream options at Yelo'd!! Not only do they offer a wide range of hard ice cream but their soft serve has become pretty famous in its own right. However, there's even more beyond that because they make sundaes and ice cream sandwiches as well. No matter what you're craving, they've certainly got you covered. One of the main things that I wanted to try was their straight-up Ube Soft Serve on a charcoal Waffle Cone ($6.50). Yelo'd usually has two soft serve flavours on the go at all times which rotate, but they always keep ube on hand. You can get one solid flavour or a swirl of two. On my visit the second flavour was macapuno (coconut). I decided to forgo the swirl because I really just wanted to try their ube soft serve all on its own (and in all of its glory). This perfectly simple cone was magic. The quality of the soft serve was top-notch and ultra creamy without an ice crystal in sight. The flavour of the ube was nutty and somewhat similar to vanilla, captured wonderfully on this cone. Of course the violaceous colour is part of what makes it so much fun! I loved the crunchy and sweet waffle cone, the charcoal black acting in striking colour contrast. This soft serve is some of the best in the whole city, if not just the overall best. (I sometimes go around saying that hard ice cream is "over" and this soft serve only convinced me further.) Next, I had to try the most popular item on the menu and the dessert synonymous with the Philippines; Halo Halo (Philippine shaved ice with jellies, jackfruit, coconut strings, red beans + your choice of soft ice cream or scoop - $12.00). I find it incredibly exciting that halo halo has arrived in Edmonton and that there are a few places to try it these days. "Halo halo" means mix-mix in Tagalog, which is exactly what the dessert entails - a mix of ingredients that you get to mix together! It's like a big Filipino sundae filled with an array of flavours and textures. Halo halo can be prepared in a bunch

I love how the flavors offered are unique and it stuck to the theme of Filipino icecream. I tried the Matcha Berry and the Keso+Ube cake. The keso+ube cake was so yummy and it was the perfect sweetness. I especially liked the ube cake as it added a delightful texture to the icecream. I wasn't that big of a fan of the Matcha Berry since it was more sour tasting and the matcha wasn't that strong. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back to try more flavours though. The truck doesn't have a fixed location so remember to check their Instagram page before going.
