Hi Tea & Hi Chicken - Mango slush and classic milk tea

The drinks were good, both tasty. The service was quick. The store itself is very minimal and is…read morequite small, just enough to function. There are not a lot of places to sit down and enjoy your drink, more of a grab and go.

Yet another facelift done to this infamous location and they are sticking by with the Taiwanese…read moreinfluenced food to go along with their BBT. Any OG Edmontonians remember when this place was Taiwan Bubble Tea with the eye soar red booths, dimmed lighting and split sitting areas that didn't go with either scheme? Yeah, well when you walk into HI Tea you don't see any remnants of that decade which I'm glad we've moved on from. They've managed to renovate the space and make it more modern with LIGHT! Nothing like a 2018 cafe without some scattered potted plants for decoration, wooden panels for an accent wall and of course tables and chairs with the same wood to blend it all together. Ah, now Hi tea you've sure got the aesthetics down now! Now to their menu, before Hi Tea became Hi tea it was a split between Taiwan bubble tea and Cheers Cut (that place with the giant flimsy piece of chicken that was half bone and looked nothing like the display out front) Food wasn't great, and it was more of a novelty visit more than anything. Fast Forward to today, food wise nothing really different or tantalizing, same mix of Taiwanese snacks and bowls and bentos. Bubble tea prices start from $4.80 for an artificial flavor all the way to $7.50 for milkshakes and milk caps. More epensive than coco's but -OKAY HI TEA. We got the Toufu Mik Tea - ($6.xx) - Bae liked this a lot, One of their specialty drinks that wasn't on their main menu but a seperate picture poster, pretty unique! Super Fruit Iced Tea ($6.99) - I paid 7 dollars for a cup for 70% sliced fruit, lol. I mean it was good, but like $7. This was my bad. It was on a poster and looked super pretty. Competition especially around this area will probably be the reason why I wouldn't revisit. Not a bad place to go if you're in to try for something different though.

If you visit SUB, you would see the usual establishments like Subway & Edo at the food court but…read morethat's not the case for Juicy. They are located by the elevators near the bookstore, hidden & quiet from the chitchatting of students. They have a decent selection of smoothies along with paninis, ice cream and sandwiches. I decided to give the Berry Forever smoothie a try. Unlike Booster Juice which blends in the juice & sliced fruit, Juicy has it mostly premade, only needing ice before going into the blender. Aside from that, my drink turned out to be pretty good, not too sweet or sour, just right. There's not a whole lot of seating from a couple tables inside and in the hallway but it is a nice hangout place if going with your friends or classmates. Prices at Juicy are reasonable and definitely a cheaper option than the numerous Booster Juice's on the University of Alberta campus.

Juicy was one of my favourite places to get a snack on campus when I was there. To be honest, I haven't tried too many of them, because my absolute favourite is the Breakfast Smoothie. It's got your standard smoothing ingredients (orange and banana in this one, I think), but they also add a scoop of oatmeal that makes it taste like you're eating an oatmeal cookie. I love it. They also have sandwiches and soup, making them one of the better lunch choices in SUB.
