My lunch go to place when I am on NEU campus. The food is inexpensive but of higher quality as compared to other restaurants nearby.

The place says "Legit" gyros and it's totally true! Amazing fresh made bread instead of the normal old pita bread that every other place uses...I ordered the slow braised lamb and it was crazy good! Fresh veggies, killer Tadiki and avocado tahini...I'm hooked! I would highly recommend this place because you truly taste the freshness and feel the love in the food. YUM! We ordered from here for a coworkers bridal shower and it was so good and I just went on my own for the first time today. I got a falafel plate. The falafel is great and the spicy whipped feta is to die for. The plate is a very generous portion size. The owner is extremely rude and tried to charge me extra for something I didn't buy. There was no way he could have confused me for somebody else because nobody had ordered that item either. The free water container was out and he refused to put more water in it, telling me that my only choice was to buy a water bottle. I asked an employee and they more than readily got water for me. Amazing. Seriously just delicious. I had seen this place as I go to the YMCA across the street & finally went to check it out. So glad I did. This place is adorable, really funky decor, spacious & not like other things you've seen. So the staff are super friendly & helpful. I was so excited to see all the veggie options, although what I wanted to have (eggplant) they were out of, so I got the zucchini & that was a fabulous choice. All the different things you get to put on it makes for lots of yummy choices. Wow. This place was absolutely delightful. The food was incredible and scrumptious with every freshly made bite. You could tell that everything was very freshly made and the dough of the pita in the gyros was soft and warm and delicious. The hummus and feta were tasty and smooth and the portions were perfect and filling. The service was outstanding. The man made it clear he was there for me and made an effort to give quality service and food. He was very personable and genuinely cared about my experience. When I asked for the restroom which was still in the works, he graciously guided me to the one in the kitchen which was surprisingly well kept. We happened to come here on a whim to escape the winter weather....what a find; BEST escape! When I couldn't decide between a Gyro or tabouli, the owner offered me a side dish of tabouli on the house. Growing up in a traditional Lebanese family where tabouli was a nightly salad, I didn't have very high expectations--don't tell my mom, but the tabouli here gave my mom's salad a run. Pita bread is made to order, which means you get a ridiculously tasty and fresh one to wrap your food. The flavors are bold and unique; ranging from mild to spicy. There are many, many vegetarian and non-vegetarian options--really so much to choose from. I am already planning my next meal there--it was truly delicious. Tried this place for the first time today and was pretty satisfied. I got a falafel bowl and it's a generous amount of food that I was able to split into two meals. The staff was super kind and service was fast. The only complaint I have is that the falafel is really dry, definitely not the best I've had, but maybe they're still working on their recipes. I love the pita! It's different from other pitas I've had - it's thinner but stretchier and flavorful. Overall, pretty good! I'd go back but probably not for the falafel. read more

I'll preface this review by saying I've never felt compelled to write a review or even make a yelp account until I ate here. First of all charging $13.81 after tax for a gyro plate is outrageous. If you walk down half a block you can get a much better meal at Boston Sharma for $9.I wish the price point was the worst thing about the establishment, because I can live with paying a little extra for a good meal. When ordering a gyro I thought I'd actually get a sufficient amount of lamb with my meal. However, after the server filling 3/4 of the plate with rice and then the another 1/8 with condiments, you'd have to use a microscope to see the amount of lamb they gave me. These leads me to my next point which is the lamb itself. You could have fooled me and told me that it was pork judging by the taste and texture of it. I'd never had soggy gyro meat until now, thank you!! I considered eating my pre-packaged gyro from Trader Joe's tonight and boy did I make a mistake by not doing so. So to sum it all up, moral of the story is if you want to pay almost $14 for a huge plate of rice, then this place will be right up your alley!! read more

As a student at Northeastern, I'm so happy this place has opened. Formerly known as BHOP, the location was dark and depressing, and though large in size, felt small and closed-in. The atmosphere inside Gyroscope is, from the ground up, the most inviting place to eat near my campus. It's the perfect place to go alone and have some food while studying, or as a group of friends - not to mention the fact that it's open late on Fridays and Saturdays, a welcome addition to the drunk food on campus. I had a lamb gyro, and my girlfriend had a falafel plate; the food is fresh and delicious, and feels much better to eat than Boston Shawarma (right around the corner). Management made it a point to inform us that they source their ingredients locally and organically. Lastly, all of the employees were beyond friendly and welcoming. I hope that they continue to keep that up as they gain traction and popularity, because it certainly sets them apart from the rest of the restaurants near campus. I'm really excited to see how it does when the city floods with students this Fall! read more
