    GF hipsterberry donut
    Dana S.

Guru has different donut styles and flavors with vegan, GF, and "regular" options (no vegan AND GF though). I thought it was cool that they make fried GF donuts (not from Boise so I don't know what the situation is here, but every donut shop I've visited elsewhere with GF options only had baked). I tried a GF hipsterberry donut (fried donut with lavender huckleberry glaze). I really liked the texture - maybe fluffy isn't the right word exactly, but it had a consistency very similar to non-GF cake donuts with just a slightly different feel. Not dense but not too airy either. The name is kind of silly but the glaze was really delicious! Great atmosphere in an interesting building with lots of seating and good music. The person working was very friendly. It was a very enjoyable quick morning snack stop.

Cute little donut shoppe in downtown Boise. Nice selection of gluten free and regular donuts. The seating area is very casual with several couches and small tables.

Delicious donuts! They had a wide variety of vegan donuts to choose from! I got 1 to eat in the shop with hot tea, took 2 for later. Comfortable seating area! Staff was helpful in choosing what to get!

Yum! Guru is a downtown Boise staple! I've been going since they were located on Capitol Street. Their new location in the Idanha bon Main Street is more spacious. My go to is the hipsterberry. My husband loves the Boston cream pie. The donuts always have incredible texture and flavor! Of note, they avoid artificial ingredients. Looks like they've changed ownership a few times, but thankfully I haven't noticed a difference in quality. Currently, their hours are 7 AM to 4 PM on weekdays and 8 AM to 4 PM on weekends

It has been forever since I have had a donut from Guru. I don't think I have been in since the remodel. Guru was a hit at my wedding! Instead of cake I had a variety of donuts. Everyone couldn't get enough of them. It was later in the afternoon when I stopped in. I was in the area. I wanted a sweet treat so it was only common sense to come in. Since it was later in the afternoon, there were still a couple donut options available but not a lot. A couple sprinkled donuts, chocolate glazed rounds, chocolate bars and some coconut ones. Honestly, they all still looked hella good. I snagged a small chocolate glazed donut. It had fun sprinkles on top. The shop was getting ready to close in about 30. I sat at the window and smashed out my donut. I'm sure it was made this morning but it was still soft. It tasted so good! I probably could have had a couple more but I only needed one. I don't remember the donuts being as small as they are. This donut was pretty small but the ones I've had in the past seemed bigger. It has been a while since I have been in so I could be wrong. Eating that donut today brought me back to my wedding day. I can vividly remember how excited everyone was grabbing a donut from the "cake" table. It's amazing how something as simple as a donut could make someone relive some of their best memories. I'm happy I stopped in today. It was a great way to add a little happiness to my day.

If you want fancy expensive donuts this is the place. Very cool building in downtown Boise with artistic interior.

Been here a few years back, I noticed the inside changed a bit as well as the menu. Still pretty good, I had the Alice in wonderland donut and a sandwich. Service was amazing, it was our friends birthdays and they let us bring balloons and gifts inside for her! She loved it!!! The vibe is chill, casual and quaint!

Came looking for a really good donut and found a fantastic treat. I got the hot mess donut, powder covered raspberry donut that was so good, I bought one for now and one for the plane ride home. Thank you Guru donuts for making my day.

Really wish I could give 2.5 stars, because I have some Jekyll and Hyde feeling on Guru. The good. If you have allergies. There is no better place for donuts. I appreciate their efforts here and I suspect it's a top reason many choose to come here. Additionally, the staff is willing to ensure cross contamination is not an issue via new gloves, new sheet, clean boxes, etc. And the donuts themselves are very good. This place is really good for those that want a donut without risking anaphylactic issues. The bad. Starting with "to go" donuts, they stack the donuts. I acknowledge there is no way to ensure donuts don't touch (and this is not about the allergies, they will definitely put those in separate boxes), but some of their donuts have juicy or otherwise easily transferred toppings. Although delicious, especially if you like that flavor, they become inedible if you don't. Another inconvenience is the bathroom. It's not in the restaurant, rather, it is down some stairs, down a hall, and you must remember to get the key (not the most welcoming walk). Finally, parking. It's not great. There's paid parking in a few areas, but not always convenient. In the end, Guru is solid, and I would recommend it. But I'd also recommend targeting your visit when you are on foot in town, when you have time to eat there, and preferably find a restroom in advance.

Guru donuts is always consistent. Always fresh in the morning with lots of choices. The breakfast burrito is delicious. Ordered avocado toast for takeout, and they gave me a breakfast sandwich instead. Didn't realize it till I got home. Was delish though.

Cool hipster type donut spot. They taste like donuts but the aesthetic is very stylish.

**Guru Donuts ** in downtown Boise is a treat to behold. You walk in and the vibe is cool. There are so many places to sit and relax and lots to look at. There is complementary water with cups to have with your doughnuts. A cool mural sits on the wall, there are seats to look out on the street and plenty of room for a crowd. The unassuming building on Main Street houses a business who's motto is " both food & life should be fun." Eating donuts here at Guru is fun experience. They open at 7 on weekdays and 8 on weekends. I tell you this because I didn't give it much thought till I arrived 2pm and donuts were scarce. For the best choice in doughnuts go early! Regardless, lucky me , my fav Boston Crème were still available. This donut was ooey gooey and had the perfect chocolate topping. The filling is the best Boston Creme filling I have had anywhere! We also tried the cup of donut holes that are the essential and tasty on the go treat. So good, light & fluffy. Another good one is the High Priest. A bacon topped glazed donut that not only looks good but is tasty. That bacon trend was from years back but the salty and sweet still works so well. Of course there is coffee. The day was too hot for that for me. There were breakfast type things to eat but it was afternoon. So, for us it was The donuts! Just go here!

I ordered The Sandwich which includes bacon, eggs, white cheddar, onions, and more. The decor is modern and hip. The two workers were the sweetest. The sandwich was $10, seemed like a great deal to me, also seemed to be fresh. There is also a vegan option. I have the menu pictured in one of my photos. There is ample seating available on a weekday, comfortable chairs, good wifi network.

Honestly, at that moment in time, I wasn't even excited for the fritters after having such a dry donut the day before. I asked for 1 fritter to be in a box and the other 3 to be in another. The gal that helped me the day before opened the window, didn't greet me, stared at me which was an awkward interaction. I told her I was there to pick up my fritters and her response was "I know". Yes, you know but I didn't know if you remembered..... A sweet gal popped up with my boxes. Explained to me which box was what and sent me on my way. I got my goods and made my way home. When I was picking up the boxes, I noticed the warmth of the box and the weight. I can tell these were going to be heavy weight fritters. Opening the box, this baby was huge! Perfectly glazed from top to bottom. My husband took his first bite. He was very happy with the fritter. I took a chunk and was very delighted at how sweet, crunchy and delicious this fritter was. The middle was soft and airy. The exterior of the fritter was crispy and crunchy even though there was a glaze over it. The cinnamon and apple chunks were in every bite. It was a fantastic apple fritter! My husband was greedy and ate a majority of it. I'm happy I got a nice chunk of it to try out. The donut and fritter was night and day. I'm happy that I got to experience the hype of the apple fritter that everyone had raved about! Believe the hype! The apple fritters here were money. If I could do half stars, this visit would have been 4.5 but it's going to be a 4. My first initial interaction with the first gal wasn't the best. You deal with a ton of different people everyday, how was I to know you knew what I was there for if you don't say anything to me? A simple "we are grabbing your fritters" would have been cool but I got stared at. I'm assuming the gal that gave me my order was the person in charge. Professional, sweet and great line of communication. I don't know when I'll be back for another round of goodies but if someone asks where they could get some fabulous fritters, I'll be suggesting this joint for sure.

I was happy that there was quite a selection still. They all looked so good! Even the classic glazed looked tasty. After looking over the goodies, I decided on a half dozen of mixed donuts. The sweet lady behind the counter was so patient with me as I was looking and second guessing my choices. With the mixed variety you get 3 classic, 2 specialty and 1 extra fancy donut. I snagged a round glazed, a chocolate and maple bar, 2 apple fritters and a fancy donut with cream and strawberries on top. I was planning on giving 3 of the goodies to my in laws. Headed to gym event, but needed doughnuts haha! Did they have them? Nnnnnnope! Made me very sad. This place sells their cookies in WinCo and I think Whole Foods. Their cookies are RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING! I could easily eat a bag of 8 in probably half a day lol. Then I'd get all depressed because my bikini wouldn't fit right :( So when I asked about the doughnuts she said they haven't been making them and I think she said it was because of staffing issues. Thanks to the virus and people now refusing to work because the government is giving them too much in unemployment, this is the case with way too many restaurants, bakeries, etc. That's my subtle jab at the current government and what they're doing to the country lol! So I left without doughnuts BUUUUT I did buy a bag of cookies. The same bag I could have bought at WinCo or Whole Foods. She said basically everything they did that morning was make the cookies for the stores and she watched them leave to take them to the stores. Exciting! I felt all guilty as soon as I bit into one of the cookies but OMFG THEY ARE SO GOOD! Have y'all ever been to a crumbl? If you have one where you live GOOOOO! This places cookies are basically they lower calorie version of Crumbl because some Crumbl cookies have 850 calories in ONE cookie hahahaha! Is it worth it tho? Absolutely lol So are these cookies, but if you are trying to watch your calorie intake then maybe stay away because you can tear through a bag of these with ease. Chocolate crinkle and snickerdoodles are my go-to's! Ooooooh! Ok, y'all, WTF is with the twist ties you used to tie up the bags of cookies? STOP using those! They are literally THE WORST! I'm sure they're cost effective but stop! I'm also sure with selling to those two major grocery stores plus selling them in your bakery that you can absolutely afford to use better ties, ones that we can actually open and reuse vs these where you can't just open them, you have to cut the top of the bag and then basically...the bag is useless after that. I know this sounds petty, but ugh they're they worst! Aside from that, this place is super nice. It's in a very weird location tho, I was surprised by that. It's like the only sit down place on this street. Across from them is a warehouse of some sort, half a block up are homes, it's just seems like it would be better on the north end, or NW Boise, basically anywhere other than where it is lol. The staff is super sweet, the ones that were there lol. I'll definitely be going back. Glad my first experience there was a decent one even if they didn't have doughnuts for my heffa ass hahahaha! That little bite was a piece of heaven, it was so good! The strawberry mangolade was tasty! You can't go wrong with a strawberry mango lemonade. I do wish the drink was a little bigger. It's basically 4 bucks for a couple sips. It was good but just too small. My husband and I really enjoyed our time here today. We even took a couple shots at the claw machine. It would be nice if that vendor doesn't shove the toys in the machine, it might allow people to win some goodies. I'm determined to get that Hello Kitty in that machine! If you're looking for a fun treat with your date, friends or family, this joint should be your spot to hit up. You'll have a good time.

The display cases had a great variety so I know sticking to my plan was going to be challenging. Grabbing a couple things and go sure was hard! They had some specialty donuts on display and man did they look killer! I didn't know what they were specifically but they looked delicious! All of them nicely decorated and garnished. But, with much restraint, I got a big apple fritter for my husband and some donut holes for the grandmas. My mom didn't let me grandma have any donut holes so I had to take one for the team and enjoy them for her. They were so good! They were soft and tasty. Every donut hole was nicely glazed. It's amazing you can polish off 7 donut holes and not realize that you had that many. They are so dainty that you don't realize how fast you're eating them. Each one was great! The gal that worked today was really sweet. I did take a bite of my husband's apple fritter and it was tasty as well! My husband also enjoyed it. My other grandma enjoyed her donut holes. She too didn't have a beard time eating 7 of them. I'm happy I stopped in today. Looking forward to coming back and grabbing more treats real soon.
