Well I guess the rest of the reviews should tell you all you need to know. I can't even rate the donut because they don't adhere to their posted hours of operation. If you want to maybe get a donut one day, but really like to live on the edge and probably not get a donut, then this is the place for you. Also if you hate speaking on the telephone, you're in luck! They don't answer the phone during business hours either AND they don't even have an answering service to leave a message. If you don't like the donuts here, I don't know who hurt you or what's going wrong in your life. The pastries here are far better than Guru or Duck or any of the designer donuts around town that are twice the price. Their basic glazed is light and airy, but not as fluffy and insubstantial as Krispy Kreme. You still feel like you're eating a donut, but it's got that perfect tender texture and just the right amount of crackly glaze. Their bar donuts are just as good, with a tender base and a light chocolate or maple coating on top. Even a little bit later in the day when they get crispy they don't seem stale. My favorite is the old fashioned, which is dense and moist and has a beautiful, sweet glaze. They also offer buttermilk bars, which are the same dough just in a fun, crinkly bar which adds some nice density. If you're feeling adventurous, they have cake donuts with a variety of glazes and sprinkles, as well as maple bars with bacon that my friends rave about. As someone who enjoys the plainer things in life, I appreciate the perfection of their cake donut: not too sweet, nice, tender crumb, and just the right size. I don't need a donut the size of a hubcap. Something that will fit in my palm is just right. They lose stars, though, for running out of multiple donut types fairly early in the day. No fritters or twists or maple bars were available at 11:00 am on a recent weekday, and they still have 7 hours left before they closed. THe service doesn't offer an alternative or to bake a new batch any time soon--they're just done. The prices are also pretty high. You don't really get a discount per dozen; they charge per donut if you get a variety so 12 assorted is $12, which is much higher than anywhere else around (the fancy gourmet places notwithstanding.) They also still have their lobby seating closed. Why? I am all for customer and staff safety, but literally all establishments in Boise are open at this point, so it doesn't seem to be a health choice. The store itself isn't super clean, though, so maybe they're saving you from eating in the dumpy little front lobby. The parking lot is super handy and it's never busy when I've been, so there isn't a problem with a line. I stopped in here early morning, about 6 am, to get 2 dozen doughnuts for a work meeting. The couple working were friendly and are hard workers. They had the doughnut case super full and fresh. It was a busy morning for them and they were working hard to get everyone's day started right and timely. Durning the meeting there were many compliments on the doughnuts and asked where I got them. I thought that was cool because they're just doughnuts after all, but apparently, people know when they get a good doughnut and DK delivers. FUN FACT: This review had me pondering-- is it Doughnut or Donut. I hadn't put much thought into it until now. This place is okay, I arrived on a Saturday in the afternoon. Luckily nobody to wait for or nobody to be waited on behind, for I usually like to take my time on things. Immediately off the bat, 70% of the selection was gone. All the good ones I mind you. I asked if they were going to make more, and they said no. I mean, they would have too if they still had 4 more hours of operation. Regardless the cheapest donut is $.95, and they aren't anything special. My favorite donut shop in town! Seriously, I don't understand the hype about Krispy Kreme. DK Donuts is the real deal! I can get all my favorites that I learned to love as a child. I haven't had a donut in several months but today I splurged and had a chocolate bar for breakfasts and a chocolate cake donut with BSU sprinkles for lunch. I stopped in this morning to pick up 2 dozen donuts for an employee meeting. I got one dozen of mixed bars and the other dozen was a mixture of old fashioned, cake with sprinkles, custard filled, etc. The owners are friendly and it is always clean. This review is probably biased. But that's fine, because this DK Donuts is spectacular. Full disclosure: When I woke up at 3:40 a.m. on a vacation day and climbed out of bed and into -1 degrees of raw Idaho morning to make their 4 a.m. grand opening, I became more than this outlet's first customer, ever. I became its donut godfather, and thus assumed all the responsibility and impartiality that such a made-up title implies. I'm totally rooting for Darren, his family, and their little slice of a strip mall that has long been a place where Meridian's small businesses go to die. Partly because he shook my hand and claimed I'd been good luck when I came back for a second box at 11 a.m. on their first day and found they had almost sold out, but mostly because they're a close and easy place to get delicious donuts. And they most definitely are delicious donuts, fried in stages all morning so you're always likely to get something fresh. Their strawberry and blueberry frosted cake donuts are the best of their kind, anywhere, and their old-fashioneds live up to the standard set by DK's flagship Boise location. The old-fashioned crueller, in particular, is a hard-fried, butter-soaked monument to West Coast donut supremacy that would rank as the single dopest pastry in the Treasure Valley if it weren't for Country Donuts' legendary fritters. Speaking of fritters, the apple ones at DK are decent -- a little thin, flimsy and dry, but still far superior to Winco, Albertsons or Freddie's. Likewise, their other raised options suffer from the same pitfalls that plague the original DK: thin, watery-tasting frosting, gluten-heavy dough and an unenthusiastic fry job that leaves their exteriors without enough rich crust. That said, their maple bars are still totally worth a shot, mainly because the DK dudes do a spectacular job of hiding their flaws though the simple expedient of slapping a slab of bacon on top. That alone is a good enough excuse to drop by for the occasional breakfast, although I'm pretty sure the tremendous cake donuts are enough of a draw on their own. read more

This place is such a welcome addition to Meridian. Love their donuts. They always are very fresh and there is always a wide selection. Much better then the grocery store bakery donuts which seem to be the standard in this area. The shop is bright and clean and the staff is always friendly. My favorite guilty pleasure is the bacon maple bar. But I regularly get an assorted dozen for the office and they are quickly devoured. I tried the apple fritter today. One of the things we miss in Idaho is a good donut shop. We are not a big fans of Dunkin' Donuts nor Krespy Creme. We found it is lacking simple but descent donut shops in the metro of Boise. You can find donuts from the grocery stores but they are just not the same. This is my first personal visit. My husband always swings by and grabs donuts from DK donuts and we have been loving it. The donuts here are very fresh, soft and made the ways we think donuts should be. Not sure if it was because I was there around 10:30 a.m. (a bit too late) or the selections were not that many. The shop is small but nice and clean. Quite some stools and chairs you can sit down and enjoy a donut with a cup of coffee. There is a surcharge of 40 cents if you want to charge your purchase less than $4 on a credit card. I did not try their coffee but there is a Starbucks right next door if you prefer that. I am born and raised East Coast girl with parents from the Midwest. I grew up in the same state as the donut master Dunkin Donuts , Honeydew Donuts. Plus the famous Mike's Pastry close enough to me. Krispy Kreme are just too loaded with glaze to even taste the donut. I have to say that we love DK Donuts. On the occasion of needing a tasty sweet on those lazy Sunday mornings. The Kolache are incredible I get the regular and can never stop myself from eating it before we get home to heat it up. With the light and fluffy glazed donuts are heavenly and the kids love the maple and chocolate bars too. It might need a good scrub down to me but very friendly service. Some would say a bit pricey for donuts but you don't get that light as air amazing sweet glaze flavor for free. read more

I'm surprised to only learn about this place this year. I tried looking up Meridian donut shops on Google maps, only to see Krispy Kreme, which is out of the way for my commute to work. I found a workable situation where I'd get KK donuts from a Chevron on the way, but it just wasn't the same as getting hot fresh donuts from a local source. Then one day, it's as if a perception filter was turned off, I actually just saw DK donuts with my own eyes. So I went in, and it's pretty much everything I hoped from a local donut shop: Hot fresh donuts, a creative variety, a good price, and it's on the way to work. The best thing about these donuts is that they're not heavy like Albertsons' Donuts, but nor are they unrealistically light, like Krispy Kreme. They're the perfect mix of both, in my opinion. read more
