I've seen Homer's signature donut sign along Fairview for a couple of weeks, beckoning me to come and visit. Finally, it was the day, after some shopping at Fred Meyer's, we headed over to Scottie's Donuts and parked in front. TIP 1: This location used to be the Empanada Emporium We walked inside, and for an early Sunday morning, many guests were having a fritter, a cup of coffee, or a pink sprinkled donut. It was quite welcoming inside, and the smells - oh boy! The donuts were nicely displayed in the trays in the display case, and the display monitor behind the counter explained how the box of dozens works. A regular box of a dozen = you can choose from any of the donuts on display in the top two trays. If you want a specialty donut from down below or to the right, then there's a small additional charge. We picked mostly from the top two trays, except for two specialty donuts - The Fruity Pebbles My mom did not hesitate to take one of the old-fashioned cake donuts out of the box, still warm, and devour it in the car, still in the parking stall. I let her stay in her donut bliss until she left no crumb behind before putting the car in reverse. I texted my son to let him know that we were bringing donuts home, and I was totally expecting to get a meme of excitement, but it was probably too early for him. Later that evening, most of the dinner party decided on a donut for dessert. As of this writing, the following, any trace of the donuts and their box has been erased from the evidence tape. To Scottie and his team, welcome to Meridian.

The service (thanks to Riggen) was as sparkling as the donut case and interior of the shop is clean and although we planned to share a donut, we found much to our surprise that they make cinnamon rolls too. Have they always and we just didn't notice? Regardless, today one of those was our choice. My 100% Italian heritage husband who grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn never has quite warmed up to cinnamon rolls, a staple of my WASP Portland-Seattle upbringing so it is usual that if we order one to share then I will get the lion's share. But as we sipped our Americano's and enjoyed this one, I nearly had to stab his hand with my plastic fork to keep him from eating some of my half. Another great surprise on this visit was their donut holes, offered in a bag and little clear container, made with their sour cream cake donut batter! Samples were offered on the counter and SO good that I thought about picking up a container before we left but a woman came in while we were eating and sipping, tasted the sample and bought the bag and every one of the six or seven containers of them to take away with her. Yes, they are that good. Other details in my previous review comments from 2023. If you want donuts, cinnamon rolls, expertly made hot Americano and with warm service in a sparkling space playing of-the-day FM music at the just right level to know it is there but no so much as to compete with conversation this is the place. PS - ice cream by the scoop or pint or in milkshakes available too.

I used to go to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory when it was out at the outlet mall. Now there's a new owner and new store front in Meridian which is so much closer to me. My friend swears by their Dubai chocolate bars here. I finally got to try out the Dubai chocolate and I see the hype in them, they are so good! I made my way in to see what kind of goodies they had. I like that you're not committed to a pound here so I'll be able to get a variety of treats. Walking in, you are smacked in the face with this amazing smell from the caramel they were using to dip the apples in. You are visually sent into overdrive with all the chocolates, Valentines decor and dipped apples perfectly displayed all over. I didn't even know where to begin! I wanted to look at everything, God forbid I miss out on something good. I would literally get one of everything if I could. The truffles, fudge, dipped twinkies, apples covered in caramel and chocolate, smores, it was all calling my name. Trying to narrow my selection down was going to be a difficult decision. But I ended up going with a milk chocolate sea salt caramel, a milk chocolate caramel, a milk chocolate truffle and one more piece that I can't remember. I also snagged a little bag of peanut butter melts for my husband. The gal that helped me out today was kind and patient with me. I was looking over the display case and wanted to make sure that I got anything that called out to me. It was neat seeing the dipping of the apples, it's an art for sure. The store is very cute, perfectly laid out and welcoming. I'm looking forward to eating my goodies later. I will have to make my way back soon. There's more treats that need to be tried out.

I appreciated that she took the time to help me, talk about awesome service!! If you're looking to treat yourself or grab a gift for someone else, there were a ton of options.
